大卫王的晚年
大卫王年纪老迈，虽然盖着外袍，仍不够暖和。
Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.
2臣仆对他说：“不如为我主我王找一个年轻的少女，侍立在王面前，照顾王，睡在王的怀中，好使我主我王得暖。”Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.
3于是他们在以色列全境寻找美貌的少女，找到了一个书念女子亚比煞，带到王那里。So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
4这少女极其美貌，她照顾王，伺候王，王却没有与她亲近。亚多尼雅谋篡王位
And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.
5那时，哈及的儿子亚多尼雅妄自尊大，说：“我要作王”，就为自己预备座车、骑兵，又派五十人在他前头奔跑。Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
6他父亲从来没有责怪他，说：“你为何这么做？”他非常俊美，生在押沙龙之后。And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom.
7亚多尼雅与洗鲁雅的儿子约押和亚比亚他祭司商议；他们就顺从亚多尼雅，帮助他。And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.
8但撒督祭司、耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅、拿单先知、示每、利以，以及大卫自己的勇士☛“利以，以及大卫自己的勇士”：原文另译“他的同伴，大卫自己的勇士”。都不顺从亚多尼雅。But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
9亚多尼雅在隐．罗结旁琐希列磐石那里献牛羊、肥犊为祭，请了他的众兄弟，就是王的众儿子，以及所有作王臣仆的犹大人。And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by Enrogel, and called all his brethren the king's sons, and all the men of Judah the king's servants:
10但他没有邀请拿单先知、比拿雅和勇士们，以及他的弟弟所罗门。所罗门被立为王
But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.
11拿单对所罗门的母亲拔示巴说：“哈及的儿子亚多尼雅作王了，你没有听见吗？我们的主大卫却不知道。Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?
12现在，来，我给你出个主意，好保全你和你儿子所罗门的性命。Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
13你去，进到大卫王那里，对他说：‘我主我王啊，你不是曾向使女起誓说：你儿子所罗门必接续我作王，他必坐在我的王位上吗？亚多尼雅怎么作了王呢？’Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?
14看哪，你还在那里与王说话的时候，我会随后进去，证实你的话。”Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.
15拔示巴进入内室，到王那里。那时，王很老了，书念女子亚比煞正伺候着王。And Bathsheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king.
16拔示巴向王屈身下拜，王说：“你要什么？”And Bathsheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?
17她对王说：“我主啊，你曾向使女指着耶和华－你的神起誓：‘你儿子所罗门必接续我作王，他必坐在我的王位上。’And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the LORD thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.
18现在，看哪，亚多尼雅作王了，你☛“你”是根据一些古卷和七十士译本；原文是“现在”。，我主我王却不知道。And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not:
19他献许多牛羊、肥犊为祭，请了王的众儿子和亚比亚他祭司，以及约押元帅，他却没有请王的仆人所罗门。And he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called.
20但你☛“你”：有些古卷和其他古译本是“现在”。，我主我王啊，以色列众人的眼目都仰望你，等你告诉他们，在我主我王之后谁坐你的王位。And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
21若不然，我主我王与祖先同睡的时候，我和我儿子所罗门必列为罪犯了。”Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.
22看哪，拔示巴还与王说话的时候，拿单先知也进来了。And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.
23有人奏告王说：“看哪，拿单先知来了。”拿单进到王面前，脸伏于地，向王叩拜。And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
24拿单说：“我主我王，你果真说过‘亚多尼雅必接续我作王，他要坐在我的王位上’吗？And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?
25他今日下去，献了许多牛羊、肥犊为祭，请了王的众儿子和军官们，以及亚比亚他祭司；看哪，他们正在亚多尼雅面前吃喝，说：‘亚多尼雅王万岁！’For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king's sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.
26至于我，就是你的仆人，和撒督祭司、耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅、王的仆人所罗门，他都没有请。But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called.
27这事果真出于我主我王吗？王却没有告诉仆人们，在我主我王之后谁坐你的王位。”Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?
28大卫王回答说：“召拔示巴到我这里来。”拔示巴就来，站在王面前。Then king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.
29王起誓说：“我指着救我性命脱离一切苦难的永生的耶和华起誓。And the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,
30我既然指着耶和华－以色列的神向你起誓说：你儿子所罗门必接续我作王，他必继承我坐在我的王位上，我今日必这样做。”Even as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.
31于是，拔示巴屈身，脸伏于地，向王叩拜，说：“我主大卫王万岁！”Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.
32大卫王又说：“召撒督祭司、拿单先知、耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅到我这里来！”他们就都来到王面前。And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.
33王对他们说：“要带领你们主的仆人，让我儿子所罗门骑我自己的骡子，送他下到基训。The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:
34在那里，撒督祭司和拿单先知要膏他作以色列的王；你们也要吹角，说：‘所罗门王万岁！’And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.
35你们要跟随他上来，使他坐在我的王位上，他要接续我作王。我已立他作以色列和犹大的君王。”Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
36耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅回应王说：“阿们！愿耶和华－我主我王的神这样说。And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too.
37耶和华怎样与我主我王同在，愿他照样与所罗门同在，使他的王位比我主大卫王的王位更大。”As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.
38于是，撒督祭司、拿单先知、耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人都下去，让所罗门骑上大卫王的骡子，送他到基训。So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.
39撒督祭司从帐幕中取了盛膏油的角来，膏所罗门。他们就吹角，众百姓都说：“所罗门王万岁！”And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.
40众百姓跟随他上来，吹着笛，大大欢呼，地被他们的声音震裂。And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.
41亚多尼雅和所有的宾客刚吃完，听见这声音；约押听见角声就说：“城中为何有这响声呢？”And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?
42他正说话的时候，看哪，亚比亚他祭司的儿子约拿单来了。亚多尼雅说：“进来吧！你是个贤明的人，必是来报好消息的。”And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good tidings.
43约拿单回答亚多尼雅说：“我们的主大卫王已经立所罗门为王了！And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king.
44王派撒督祭司、拿单先知、耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人和所罗门一起去，叫他骑上王的骡子。And the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule:
45撒督祭司和拿单先知已经在基训膏他作王了。他们从那里欢呼着上来，城都震动，这就是你们所听见的声音。And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon: and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard.
46所罗门也已经登上国度的王位了。And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom.
47王的臣仆也来为我们的主大卫王祝福，说：‘愿神使所罗门的名比你的名更尊荣，使他的王位比你的王位更大。’王在床上屈身敬拜，And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.
48王也这样说：‘耶和华－以色列的神是应当称颂的，因他今日赏赐一个人坐在我的王位上，我也亲眼看见了。’”And also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.
49亚多尼雅所有的宾客都战兢，起来，各走各路去了。And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.
50亚多尼雅惧怕所罗门，就起来，去抓住祭坛的翘角。And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
51有人告诉所罗门说：“看哪，亚多尼雅惧怕所罗门王。看哪，他抓住祭坛的翘角，说：‘愿所罗门王先向我起誓，必不用刀杀死仆人。’”And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me today that he will not slay his servant with the sword.
52所罗门说：“他若作贤明的人，连一根头发也不致落在地上；他若作恶，必要死亡。”And Solomon said, If he will shew himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.
53于是所罗门王派人叫亚多尼雅从坛上下来，他就来向所罗门王下拜。所罗门对他说：“你回家去吧！”So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.
