大卫为扫罗和约拿单悲泣
扫罗死后，大卫击杀亚玛力人回来，在洗革拉住了两天。
Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;
2第三天，看哪，有一人从扫罗的营里出来，衣服撕裂，头蒙灰尘，到大卫面前伏地叩拜。It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
3大卫对他说：“你从哪里来？”他说：“我从以色列的营里逃来。”And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
4大卫又对他说：“事情怎么样？请你告诉我。”他说：“士兵从阵上逃跑，也有许多士兵仆倒死亡，扫罗和他儿子约拿单也死了。”And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
5大卫问报信的青年说：“你怎么知道扫罗和他儿子约拿单死了呢？”And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
6报信的青年说：“我恰巧到基利波山，看哪，扫罗靠在自己的枪上，看哪，有战车、骑兵紧紧地追他。And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.
7他回头看见我，就呼叫我。我说：‘我在这里。’And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.
8他问我说：‘你是什么人？’我说：‘我是亚玛力人。’And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.
9他对我说：‘请你站到我这里来，把我杀死，因为我非常痛苦，只剩下一口气。’He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.
10我就站到他那里，杀了他，因为我知道他一倒下就活不了。然后，我把他头上的冠冕和臂上的镯子拿到我主这里来。”So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.
11大卫就抓着自己的衣服，把衣服撕裂，所有跟随他的人也都如此。Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:
12他们为扫罗和他儿子约拿单，以及耶和华的百姓和以色列家的人悲哀哭泣，禁食到晚上，因为他们都倒在刀下。And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
13大卫问报信的青年说：“你是哪里人？”他说：“我是一个寄居者的儿子，是亚玛力人。”And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.
14大卫对他说：“你动手杀害耶和华的受膏者，怎么不畏惧呢？”And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?
15大卫叫了一个仆人来，说：“来，杀了他！”仆人击杀他，他就死了。And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.
16大卫对他说：“你的血归到你自己头上，因为你亲口作证控诉自己，说：‘我杀了耶和华的受膏者。’”大卫为扫罗和约拿单作哀歌
And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD's anointed.
17大卫作了这首哀歌，哀悼扫罗和他儿子约拿单，And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:
18并吩咐人把这首“弓歌”教导犹大人，看哪，它写在《雅煞珥书》上：(Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)
19以色列啊，尊荣者在你的高处被杀！ 大英雄竟然仆倒！The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!
20不要在迦特报告， 不要在亚实基伦街上传扬， 免得非利士的女子欢喜， 免得未受割礼之人的女子欢乐。Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
21基利波山哪，愿你那里没有雨，没有露！ 愿你的田地无土产可作供物！ 因为英雄的盾牌在那里受辱， 扫罗的盾牌没有抹油。Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil.
22在被杀者的血前， 在勇士的脂肪前， 约拿单的弓绝不退缩， 扫罗的刀断不虚回。From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
23扫罗和约拿单生时相悦相爱， 死时也不分离。 他们比鹰更快， 比狮子还强。Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
24以色列的女子啊，当为扫罗哭泣！ 他曾使你们穿朱红色的美衣， 使你们衣服有黄金的妆饰。Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
25英雄竟然在阵上仆倒！ 约拿单竟然在你的高处被杀！How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places.
26我兄约拿单哪，我为你悲伤！ 我甚喜爱你！ 你对我的爱何等奇妙， 过于妇女的爱情。I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.
27英雄竟然仆倒！ 兵器竟然废弃！How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
