以利亚和亚哈谢王
亚哈死后，摩押背叛以色列。
Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
2亚哈谢在撒玛利亚，一日从楼上的栏杆跌下来，就病了。于是他派使者，对他们说：“你们去问以革伦的神明巴力．西卜，我这病是否能痊愈。”And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.
3但耶和华的使者对提斯比人以利亚说：“你起来，上去迎见撒玛利亚王的使者，对他们说：‘你们去问以革伦的神明巴力．西卜，是因为以色列中没有神吗？’But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?
4所以耶和华如此说：‘你必不能下你所上的床，因为你一定会死！’”以利亚就去了。Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.
5使者回到王那里，王对他们说：“你们为什么回来了呢？”And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?
6他们对王说：“有一个人上来迎见我们，对我们说：‘去，回到差你们来的王那里，对他说：耶和华如此说，你派人去问以革伦的神明巴力．西卜，是因为以色列中没有神吗？所以你必不能下所上的床，你一定会死。’”And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
7王对他们说：“上来迎见你们，告诉你们这些话的人是什么样子呢？”And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?
8他们对王说：“这人身穿毛衣☛“身穿毛衣”或译“全身长毛”。，腰束皮带。”王说：“他一定是提斯比人以利亚。”And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
9于是，王派了一个五十夫长，带领五十人到以利亚那里。他上来，看哪，以利亚正坐在山顶上。五十夫长对他说：“神人哪，王吩咐你下来！”Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
10以利亚回答五十夫长说：“我若是神人，愿火从天上降下来，吞灭你和你的五十个人！”于是有火从天上降下来，吞灭五十夫长和他的五十个人。And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
11王又派另一个五十夫长，带领五十人到以利亚那里。五十夫长对他说：“神人哪，王这样吩咐，快快下来！”Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.
12以利亚回答他们说：“我若是神人，愿火从天上降下来，吞灭你和你的五十个人！”于是神的火☛“神的火”或译“大火”。从天上降下来，吞灭五十夫长和他的五十个人。And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
13王第三次又派一个五十夫长，带领五十人去。第三个五十夫长上去，双膝跪在以利亚面前，哀求他说：“神人哪，愿我的性命和你这五十个仆人的性命在你眼中看为宝贵！And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
14看哪，已经有火从天上降下来，吞灭前两次来的五十夫长和他们的五十个人，现在愿我的性命在你眼中看为宝贵！”Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.
15耶和华的使者对以利亚说：“你跟他下去，不要怕他！”以利亚就起来，跟他下到王那里去。And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
16他对王说：“耶和华如此说：‘你派人去问以革伦的神明巴力．西卜，是因为以色列中没有神可以让你求问他的话吗？所以你必不能下所上的床，你一定会死！’”亚哈谢死后约兰继位
And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
17亚哈谢死了，正如耶和华藉以利亚所说的话。犹大王约沙法的儿子约兰第二年，亚哈谢的兄弟☛“亚哈谢的兄弟”是根据七十士译本的一些抄本和其他古译本；原文没有。约兰接续他作王，因亚哈谢没有儿子。So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.
18亚哈谢其余所做的事，不都写在《以色列诸王记》上吗？Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
