大卫逃离扫罗
大卫到了挪伯的亚希米勒祭司那里，亚希米勒战战兢兢地出来迎接他，对他说：“你为什么独自一人，没有人跟随你呢？”
Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?
2大卫对亚希米勒祭司说：“王吩咐我一件事，对我说：‘我差遣你，吩咐你的这件事，不可让任何人知道。’因此我已告诉一些仆人到某处去☛“告诉...去”：死海古卷和一些其他古译本是“和一些仆人约在某处相会”。。And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.
3现在你手中有什么？请你给我五个饼或是可以找到的食物。”Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.
4祭司对大卫说：“我手中没有普通的饼，只有圣饼，只能给没有亲近妇人的年轻人。”And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.
5大卫回答祭司说：“我们确实没有亲近妇人，如同往常我出征的时候一样。平常行路，仆人的身体☛“身体”：原文是“器皿”。都还分别为圣，何况今日岂不更使自己分别为圣吗？”And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.
6祭司拿圣饼给他，因为在那里没有别的饼，只有那从耶和华面前撤下的供饼，就是换上热饼的日子取下来的。So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.
7当日，有扫罗的一个臣仆在那里，他留在耶和华的面前，名叫多益，是以东人，作扫罗的畜牧长。Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.
8大卫对亚希米勒说：“你手中有没有枪或刀？因为王的事紧急，连刀剑兵器我都没有带。”And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.
9祭司说：“你在以拉谷所杀的非利士人歌利亚的那刀，看哪，裹在布中，放在以弗得后边。你若要可以拿去，除此以外，再没有别的了。”大卫说：“没有什么可以跟它比的了！请你给我。”And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.
10那日大卫起来，躲避扫罗，逃到迦特王亚吉那里。And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
11亚吉的臣仆对他说：“这不是那地的国王大卫吗？那里的人跳舞唱和： ‘扫罗杀死千千， 大卫杀死万万’，不是指着他说的吗？”And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
12大卫把这些话放在心里，就很惧怕迦特王亚吉。And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
13于是他在众人眼前一反常态，在他们中间☛“在他们中间”：原文是“在他们手中”。装疯作癫，在城门的门扇上胡写乱画，任由唾沫流在胡子上。And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.
14亚吉对臣仆说：“看哪，你们看这人疯了，为什么带他到我这里来呢？Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?
15我岂缺少疯子，你们竟然带这人到我面前疯癫吗？这个人可以进我的家吗？”Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?
