大卫和拔示巴
过了一年，正是诸王出战的时候，大卫派约押率领臣仆和以色列众人出去。他们打败亚扪人，围攻拉巴。大卫仍然留在耶路撒冷。
And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
2黄昏的时候，大卫从床上起来，在王宫的平顶上散步。他从平顶上看见一个妇人沐浴，这妇人容貌非常美丽。And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.
3大卫派人打听那妇人是谁。有人说：“她不是以连的女儿，赫人乌利亚的妻子拔示巴吗？”And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
4大卫派使者去把妇人接来；她来到大卫那里，那时她的月经刚洁净，大卫与她同寝。她就回家去了。And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.
5那妇人怀了孕，派人去告诉大卫说：“我怀孕了。”And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.
6大卫派人告诉约押：“你派赫人乌利亚到我这里来。”约押就派乌利亚到大卫那里。And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.
7乌利亚来到大卫那里，大卫问约押好，也问士兵好，又问战争的情况。And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.
8大卫对乌利亚说：“下到你家去，洗洗脚吧！”乌利亚出了王宫，随后王送他一份礼物。And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king.
9乌利亚却和他主人所有的仆人一同睡在王宫门口，没有下到他家去。But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.
10有人告诉大卫说：“乌利亚没有下到他的家。”大卫就对乌利亚说：“你不是从远路上来吗？为什么不下到你家去呢？”And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from thy journey? why then didst thou not go down unto thine house?
11乌利亚对大卫说：“约柜，以色列和犹大都留在棚里，我主约押和我主的仆人都在田野安营，我岂可回家吃喝，与妻子同房呢？我指着王和王的性命起誓：‘我绝不做这事！’”And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.
12大卫对乌利亚说：“你今日仍留在这里，明日我打发你去。”于是乌利亚那日留在耶路撒冷。次日，And David said to Uriah, Tarry here to day also, and to morrow I will let thee depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow.
13大卫召了乌利亚来，叫他在自己面前吃喝，使他喝醉。黄昏的时候，乌利亚出去，躺卧在自己的床上；与他主的仆人在一起，并没有下到他的家去。大卫谋杀乌利亚
And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk: and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.
14早晨，大卫写信给约押，交乌利亚亲手带去。And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.
15他在信内写着说：“要派乌利亚到战争激烈的前线去，然后你们撤退离开他，使他被击杀而死。”And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.
16约押侦察城的时候，知道敌人哪里有勇士，就派乌利亚到那地方。And it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah unto a place where he knew that valiant men were.
17城里的人出来和约押打仗，大卫的仆人中有几个士兵被杀，赫人乌利亚也死了。And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.
18于是，约押派人去将战争的一切事奏告大卫，Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;
19又吩咐使者说：“你把战争的一切事对王说完了，And charged the messenger, saying, When thou hast made an end of telling the matters of the war unto the king,
20王若发怒，对你说：‘你们打仗为什么挨近城呢？岂不知敌人会从城墙上射箭吗？And if so be that the king's wrath arise, and he say unto thee, Wherefore approached ye so nigh unto the city when ye did fight? knew ye not that they would shoot from the wall?
21从前击杀耶路比设☛“耶路比设”：七十士译本是“耶路巴力”；参士9．1；撒上12．11。的儿子亚比米勒的是谁呢？岂不是一个妇人从城墙上抛下一块上磨石来，打在他身上，他就死在提备斯吗？你们为什么挨近城墙呢？’你就说：‘你的仆人赫人乌利亚也死了。’”Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went ye nigh the wall? then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
22使者就去，照着约押所吩咐的一切话来奏告大卫。☛七十士译本在此加：“大卫对约押发怒，对使者说：‘你们打仗为什么挨近城呢？岂不知你们会从城墙受到伤害吗？从前击杀耶路巴力的儿子亚比米勒的是谁呢？岂不是一个妇人从城墙上抛下一块上磨石来，打在他身上，他就死在提备斯吗？你们为什么挨近城墙呢？’”So the messenger went, and came and shewed David all that Joab had sent him for.
23使者对大卫说：“敌人强过我们，出到郊外攻打我们，我们把他们赶回到城门口。And the messenger said unto David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon them even unto the entering of the gate.
24弓箭手从城墙上射你的仆人，射死几个王的仆人，你的仆人赫人乌利亚也死了。”And the shooters shot from off the wall upon thy servants; and some of the king's servants be dead, and thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
25大卫向使者说：“你对约押这样说：‘不要为这事难过，因为刀剑可能吞灭这人或那人。你只管竭力攻城，将城倾覆。’你要勉励约押。”Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.
26乌利亚的妻听见丈夫乌利亚死了，就为丈夫哀哭。And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.
27居丧的日子过了，大卫派人把她接到宫里，她就作了大卫的妻子，给大卫生了一个儿子。但大卫做的这事，耶和华的眼中看为恶。And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.
