但支派的迁移
那时，以色列中没有王。但支派的人还在觅地居住，因为直到那日，他们还没有在以色列支派中抽签得地为业。
In those days there was no king in Israel: and in those days the tribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day all their inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel.
2但人从琐拉和以实陶派本族中的五个勇士，去窥探侦察那地，对他们说：“你们去侦察那地。”他们来到以法莲山区米迦的家中，就在那里住宿。And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.
3他们临近米迦的家，听出那年轻的利未人的口音，就绕到那里，对他说：“谁领你到这里来？你在这里做什么？你在这里得了什么？”When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?
4他对他们说：“米迦如此如此待我，他雇用我，我就作了他的祭司。”And he said unto them, Thus and thus dealeth Micah with me, and hath hired me, and I am his priest.
5他们对他说：“请你求问神，使我们知道所走的道路是否通达。”And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.
6祭司对他们说：“你们平平安安去吧，你们所行的道路是在耶和华面前的。”And the priest said unto them, Go in peace: before the LORD is your way wherein ye go.
7五人就走了，来到拉亿，见那里的人安居，像西顿人的生活一样安宁无虑，那地无人羞辱他们，无人夺取侵略。他们离西顿人很远，与世无争☛“与世无争”：七十士译本是“与叙利亚没有争执”；下同。。Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.
8五人回到琐拉和以实陶他们的弟兄那里。他们的弟兄对他们说：“你们怎么了？”And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What say ye?
9他们说：“起来，我们上去攻打他们吧！我们已经窥探了那地，看哪，那地非常好。你们还要待在这里吗？不要再迟延了，立刻出发去得那地为业吧！And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.
10你们去，必来到安居的百姓和两边辽阔的地。神已将那地方交在你们手中了；那里不缺地上的任何东西。”When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth.
11于是但族的六百人，各带兵器，从琐拉和以实陶出发，And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war.
12上到犹大的基列．耶琳，在那里安营。因此那地方名叫玛哈尼．但，直到今日。看哪，它在基列．耶琳的西边。And they went up, and pitched in Kirjathjearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahanehdan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kirjathjearim.
13他们从那里往以法莲山区去，来到米迦的家。And they passed thence unto mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah.
14先前窥探拉亿地的五个人对他们的弟兄说：“你们知道吗？这些屋子里有以弗得和家中的神像，以及一尊雕刻的像与一尊铸成的像。现在你们要知道该怎么做。”Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do.
15五人转身，进入米迦的家，来到那年轻利未人的房间，向他问安。And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, even unto the house of Micah, and saluted him.
16六百但人各带兵器，站在门口。And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate.
17那窥探这地的五个人上前去，进入里面，拿走雕刻的像、以弗得、家中的神像，以及铸成的像。祭司和带兵器的六百人一同站在门口。And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war.
18当五个人进入米迦的家，拿走雕刻的像、以弗得、家中的神像，以及铸成的像，祭司对他们说：“你们做什么呢？”And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye?
19他们对他说：“不要作声，用手捂口，跟我们去吧！我们必以你为父为祭司。你作一家的祭司好呢？还是作以色列一支派一族的祭司好呢？”And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?
20祭司心里欢喜，拿着以弗得和家中的神像，以及雕刻的像，跟这些百姓走了。And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.
21他们转身离开那里，把孩子、牲畜、财物安排在前头。So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them.
22他们离了米迦的家已远，米迦家附近的邻居被召来，追赶但人。And when they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that were in the houses near to Micah's house were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan.
23他们呼叫但人，但人回头对米迦说：“你召集这许多人来做什么呢？”And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company?
24米迦说：“你们把我所造的神像，还有祭司，都带走了，我还有什么呢？你怎么还对我说‘你在做什么’呢？”And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee?
25但人对米迦说：“你不要让我们再听见你的声音，恐怕这群恼怒成性的人会攻击你们，你和你的全家就会丧命。”And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.
26但人仍走他们的路。米迦见他们的势力比自己强，就转身回家去了。And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house.
27但人把米迦造的神像和他的祭司带走，来到拉亿安宁无虑的百姓那里，用刀杀了他们，放火烧了那城。And they took the things which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire.
28没有人来搭救，因为这城离西顿很远，他们又与世无争；这城在靠近伯．利合的平原。但人建造这城，在那里居住，And there was no deliverer, because it was far from Zidon, and they had no business with any man; and it was in the valley that lieth by Bethrehob. And they built a city, and dwelt therein.
29并照着他们祖先以色列之子但的名字，给这城起名叫但。原先这城名叫拉亿。And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first.
30但人为自己设立了那雕刻的像。摩西的孙子，革舜的儿子约拿单和他的子孙作但支派的祭司，直到那地遭掳掠的日子。And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land.
31神的家在示罗多少日子，但人为自己设立米迦所雕刻的像也在但多少日子。And they set them up Micah's graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.
