耶和华的使者在波金
耶和华的使者从吉甲上到波金，说：“我领你们从埃及上来，带你们到我向你们列祖起誓应许之地。我曾说：‘我永不废弃我与你们的约。
And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.
2你们不可与这地的居民立约，要拆毁他们的祭坛。’你们竟没有听从我的话。你们为何这样做呢！And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?
3因此我说：‘我必不将他们从你们面前赶出。他们必作你们肋下的荆棘☛“肋下的荆棘”：原文是“肋旁”；原文另译“敌人”。，他们的神明必成为你们的圈套。’”Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.
4耶和华的使者向以色列众人说这些话的时候，百姓放声大哭。And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
5于是他们给那地方起名叫波金☛“波金”意思是“哭”。，并在那里向耶和华献祭。约书亚去世
And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.
6约书亚解散百姓，以色列人回到自己的地业，占各自的地。And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.
7约书亚在世的日子和他死了以后，那些见过耶和华为以色列所做一切大事的长老还在世的时候，百姓都事奉耶和华。And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.
8耶和华的仆人，嫩的儿子约书亚死了，那时他一百一十岁。And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
9以色列人把他葬在他自己地业的境内，以法莲山区的亭拿．希烈，在迦实山的北边。And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.
10那世代的人也都归到自己的列祖。后来兴起的另一世代不认识耶和华，也不知道他为以色列所做的事。以色列离弃耶和华
And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
11以色列人行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，去事奉诸巴力。And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
12他们离弃领他们出埃及地的耶和华－他们列祖的神，去随从别神，就是四围列国的神明，向它们叩拜，惹耶和华发怒。And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.
13他们离弃了耶和华，去事奉巴力和亚斯她录。And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
14耶和华的怒气向以色列发作，把他们交在抢夺他们的人手中，又把他们交给四围仇敌的手中☛“交给.手中”：原文是“卖给.手中”；本卷书下同。，以致他们在仇敌面前再也不能站立得住。And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
15他们无论往何处去，耶和华的手都以灾祸攻击他们，正如耶和华所说的，又如耶和华向他们所起的誓；他们就极其困苦。Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.
16耶和华兴起士师，士师就拯救他们脱离抢夺他们之人的手。Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
17然而，他们却不听从士师，竟随从别神而行淫，向它们叩拜。他们列祖所行的道，所听从耶和华的命令，他们都速速偏离了，并不照样遵行。And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.
18耶和华为他们兴起士师，耶和华与士师同在。士师在世的一切日子，耶和华拯救他们脱离仇敌的手。耶和华因他们受欺压迫害所发出的哀声，就怜悯他们。And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
19但士师一死，他们又转去行恶，比他们祖宗更坏，去随从别神，事奉叩拜它们，总不放弃他们的恶习和顽梗的行为。And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
20于是耶和华的怒气向以色列发作，说：“因为这国违背我吩咐他们列祖当守的约，不听从我的话，And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;
21约书亚死的时候所剩下的各国，我必不再从他们面前赶出任何一个，I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
22为要藉此考验以色列是否肯谨守遵行耶和华的道，像他们列祖一样地谨守。”That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.
23耶和华留下那些国家，不将他们速速赶出，也不把他们交在约书亚的手中。Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
