扫罗逝世
（撒上31．1－13）
非利士人攻打以色列。以色列人在非利士人面前逃跑，很多人☛“很多人”：原文是“他们”。在基利波山被杀仆倒。
Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.
2非利士人紧追扫罗和他的儿子，杀了扫罗的儿子约拿单、亚比拿达、麦基．舒亚。And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
3攻击扫罗的战事激烈，扫罗被弓箭手射中，被他们射伤。And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.
4扫罗吩咐拿他兵器的人说：“你拔出刀来，把我刺死，免得那些未受割礼的人来凌辱我。”但拿兵器的人非常惧怕，不肯刺他。于是扫罗拿起刀来，伏在刀上。Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
5拿兵器的人见扫罗已死，也伏在刀上死了。And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died.
6这样，扫罗和他三个儿子，以及他的全家都一起阵亡了。So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.
7住平原的以色列众人见以色列军兵☛“以色列军兵”：原文是“他们”。逃跑，扫罗和他儿子都死了，就弃城逃跑。非利士人前来，占据了他们的城。And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
8次日，非利士人来剥那些被杀之人的衣服，看见扫罗和他儿子仆倒在基利波山。And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.
9他们剥了他的军装，拿着他的首级和盔甲，派人到非利士人之地的四境，报信给他们的偶像和百姓。And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people.
10他们将扫罗的盔甲放在他们神明的庙里，把他的首级钉在大衮庙中。And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon.
11基列的雅比居民听见非利士人向扫罗所行的一切事，And when all Jabeshgilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
12他们中间所有的勇士就起身，把扫罗和他儿子的尸身送到雅比，把他们的尸骨葬在雅比的橡树下，禁食七日。They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
13这样，扫罗为了他的不忠死了；因为他干犯耶和华，没有遵守耶和华的话，又因他求问招魂的妇人，So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;
14不求问耶和华，所以耶和华使他被杀，把王国给了耶西的儿子大卫。And enquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
