犹大王约沙法
亚撒的儿子约沙法接续他作王，奋勇自强，防备以色列。
And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
2他安置军兵在犹大一切坚固城里，又安置驻军在犹大地和他父亲亚撒所得以法莲的城镇中。And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
3耶和华与约沙法同在，因为他行他祖先大卫☛有些抄本和七十士译本没有“大卫”。从前所行的道，不去寻求诸巴力，And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
4只寻求他父亲的神，遵行他的诫命，不效法以色列人的行为。But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
5所以耶和华坚定约沙法手中的国，犹大众人给他进贡；约沙法大有财富和尊荣。Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
6他乐意遵行耶和华的道，并且从犹大再次除掉一切丘坛和亚舍拉。And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
7他作王第三年，差遣官员便．亥伊勒、俄巴底、撒迦利雅、拿坦业、米该亚往犹大各城去教导百姓。Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
8跟他们一同去的有利未人示玛雅、尼探雅、西巴第雅、亚撒黑、示米拉末、约拿单、亚多尼雅、多比雅、驼．巴多尼雅；跟他们一同的又有以利沙玛和约兰二位祭司。And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
9他们在犹大教导，带着耶和华的律法书，走遍犹大各城教导百姓。约沙法的功绩
And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
10犹大四围地上的邦国都惧怕耶和华，不敢与约沙法争战。And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
11有些非利士人送礼物，进贡银子给约沙法。阿拉伯人也送他七千七百只公绵羊，七千七百只公山羊。Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
12约沙法日渐强大，他在犹大建造堡垒和储货城。And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
13他在犹大城镇中有许多工程，在耶路撒冷又有战士，就是大能的勇士。And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
14他们按着父家的数目如下：犹大族的千夫长以押拿为首，率领三十万大能的勇士；And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
15其次是约哈难千夫长，率领二十八万；And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
16其次是细基利的儿子亚玛斯雅，他是一个自愿奉献给耶和华的人，率领二十万大能的勇士。And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
17便雅悯族有大能的勇士以利雅大，率领二十万拿弓箭和盾牌的人；And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
18其次是约萨拔，率领十八万预备打仗的人。And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
19这些都是伺候王的，还有王在全犹大的坚固城所安置的不在其内。These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
