埃及侵犯犹大
（王上14．21－31）
罗波安的王国稳固，他强盛的时候就离弃耶和华的律法，全以色列都跟从他。
And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.
2罗波安王第五年，埃及王示撒上来攻打耶路撒冷，因为他们背叛了耶和华。And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,
3示撒带着一千二百辆战车，六万名骑兵，以及跟随他从埃及出来的路比人、苏基人和古实人的军队，多得不可胜数。With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
4他攻取了犹大的坚固城，来到耶路撒冷。And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
5那时，犹大的领袖因为示撒的缘故聚集在耶路撒冷，有先知示玛雅去见罗波安和众领袖，对他们说：“耶和华如此说：‘你们离弃了我，所以我也离弃你们，把你们交在示撒手里。’”Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.
6于是以色列的领袖和王都谦卑说：“耶和华是公义的。”Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.
7耶和华见他们谦卑，耶和华的话就临到示玛雅，说：“他们既谦卑，我必不灭绝他们；我要使他们暂时得拯救，不藉着示撒的手将我的怒气倒在耶路撒冷。And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8然而他们必作示撒的仆人，好叫他们知道，服事我与服事地上邦国有何分别。”Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.
9于是，埃及王示撒上来攻取耶路撒冷，夺了耶和华殿和王宫里的宝物，尽都带走，又夺走所罗门制造的金盾牌。So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10罗波安王制造铜盾牌代替那些金盾牌，交给看守王宫宫门的护卫长看管。Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house.
11每逢王进耶和华的殿，护卫兵就来，举起这些盾牌；随后仍将盾牌送回护卫室。And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.
12王谦卑的时候，耶和华的怒气就转消了，不全然灭尽，并且在犹大中，情况也有好转。罗波安政绩简述
And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.
13罗波安王自强，在耶路撒冷作王。他登基的时候年四十一岁，在耶路撒冷，就是耶和华从以色列众支派中所选择立他名的城，作王十七年。罗波安的母亲名叫拿玛，是亚扪人。So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
14罗波安行恶，因他没有立定心意寻求耶和华。And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.
15罗波安的事迹，自始至终不都写在示玛雅先知和易多先见的《史记》上吗？罗波安与耶罗波安时常交战。Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
16罗波安与他祖先同睡，葬在大卫城，他的儿子亚比雅☛“亚比雅”：王上14．31称“亚比央”。接续他作王。And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
