巴兰对巴勒说：“你要在这里为我筑七座坛，又要在这里为我预备七头公牛、七只公羊。”
And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.
2巴勒照巴兰的话做了。巴勒和巴兰在每座坛上献一头公牛、一只公羊。And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.
3巴兰对巴勒说：“你站在你的燔祭旁边，我要往前去，或许耶和华会向我显现。他指示我什么事，我必告诉你。”于是巴兰上到一个光秃的高地。And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.
4神向巴兰显现。巴兰对他说：“我预备了七座坛，在每座坛上献了一头公牛、一只公羊。”And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.
5耶和华把话放在巴兰口中，说：“你回到巴勒那里，要这样说。”And the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.
6他就回到巴勒那里，看哪，巴勒和摩押的众官员站在燔祭旁边。And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab.
7巴兰唱起诗歌说： “巴勒领我出亚兰， 摩押王领我出东方的山脉： ‘来啊，为我诅咒雅各； 来啊，怒骂以色列。’And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.
8神没有诅咒的， 我焉能诅咒？ 耶和华没有怒骂的， 我岂能怒骂？How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?
9我从磐石的巅峰看到他， 我从山丘望见他。 看哪，这是独居的民， 不算在列国中。For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.
10谁能数点雅各的尘土？ 谁能计算以色列的尘沙 ☛“尘沙”或译“四分之一”。？ 我愿如正直人之死而死； 我愿如正直人之终而终。”Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!
11巴勒对巴兰说：“你向我做的是什么呢？我带你来诅咒我的仇敌，看哪，你竟为他们祝福。”And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.
12他回答说：“耶和华放在我口中的话，我岂能不谨慎地说呢？”And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my mouth?
13巴勒对他说：“请你跟我到别的地方，在那里可以看见他们。你只能看见他们的一部分，却不能看见全部。请你在那里为我诅咒他们。”巴兰第二次预言
And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.
14于是巴勒领巴兰到了琐腓的田野，上了毗斯迦山顶☛“到了...顶”或译“到了毗斯迦山顶上的瞭望台”。，筑了七座坛，在每座坛上献一头公牛、一只公羊。And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.
15巴兰对巴勒说：“你站在你的燔祭旁边，我要到那边去看看。”And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt offering, while I meet the LORD yonder.
16耶和华向巴兰显现，把话放在他口中，说：“你回到巴勒那里，要这样说。”And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus.
17他回到巴勒那里，看哪，巴勒站在燔祭旁边，摩押的官员也和他在一起。巴勒对他说：“耶和华说了什么呢？”And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken?
18巴兰唱起诗歌说： “巴勒啊，起来，听； 西拨的儿子啊，侧耳听我。And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:
19神非人，必不致说谎， 也非人子，必不致后悔。 他说了岂不照着做呢？ 他发了言岂不实现呢？God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
20看哪，我奉命祝福； 神赐福，我不能扭转。Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
21他未见雅各中有灾难 ☛“灾难”或译“罪孽”。， 也未见以色列中有祸患☛“祸患”或译“奸恶”。。 耶和华－他的神和他同在； 在他中间有欢呼王的声音。He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.
22神领他们出埃及， 为以色列有如野牛的角。God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.
23绝没有法术可以伤雅各， 没有占卜可以害以色列。 现在，人论及雅各，论及以色列必说： ‘神成就了何等的事啊！’Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!
24看哪，这百姓兴起如母狮， 挺身像公狮， 未曾吃猎物， 未曾喝被杀者的血， 绝不躺卧。”Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.
25巴勒对巴兰说：“你一点也不要诅咒他们，一点也不要为他们祝福！”And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.
26巴兰回答巴勒说：“我不是告诉过你：‘凡耶和华所说的，我必须遵行’吗？”But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do?
27巴勒对巴兰说：“来，我领你到别的地方，或许神喜欢你在那里为我诅咒他们。”And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.
28巴勒就领巴兰到那可瞭望旷野的毗珥山顶。And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Jeshimon.
29巴兰对巴勒说：“你要在这里为我筑七座坛，又要在这里为我预备七头公牛、七只公羊。”And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.
30巴勒就照巴兰的话做，在每座坛上献一头公牛、一只公羊。And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.
