所罗门祈求智慧
（王上3．1－15）
大卫的儿子所罗门巩固他的国度；耶和华－他的神与他同在，使他极其尊大。
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
2所罗门吩咐全以色列，就是千夫长、百夫长、审判官、全以色列的众领袖和族长前来。Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
3所罗门率领全会众往基遍的丘坛去，因那里有神的会幕，就是耶和华的仆人摩西在旷野所造的。So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
4只是神的约柜，大卫已经从基列．耶琳接到他所预备的地方，因他曾在耶路撒冷为约柜支搭了帐幕，But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5把户珥的孙子，乌利的儿子比撒列所造的铜坛摆在基遍☛“把户珥...摆在基遍”：有古卷、七十士译本和其他古译本是“户珥的孙子，乌利亚的儿子比撒列所造的铜坛在基遍那里”。耶和华的会幕前。所罗门和会众求告耶和华。Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
6所罗门上到耶和华面前会幕的铜坛那里，在坛上献一千祭牲为燔祭。And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7当夜，神向所罗门显现，对他说：“你愿我赐你什么，你可以求。”In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8所罗门对神说：“你曾向我父亲大卫大施慈爱，使我接续他作王。And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9耶和华神啊，现在求你实现向我父亲大卫所应许的话；因你立我作这百姓的王，他们如同地上的尘沙那样多。Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10现在，求你赐我智慧聪明，好在这百姓面前出入；不然，谁能判断你这么多的百姓呢？”Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11神对所罗门说：“你有这心意，不求资财、丰富、尊荣，也不求灭绝恨你之人的性命，又不求长寿；我既立你作我百姓的王，你只求智慧聪明，好审判我的百姓，And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12我必赐你智慧聪明，也必赐你资财、丰富、尊荣，在你以前的列王未曾有过，在你以后也不会再有。”Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
13于是，所罗门从基遍丘坛会幕前回到耶路撒冷，治理以色列。所罗门的兵力和财力
（王上10．26－29）
Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
14所罗门聚集战车骑兵；他有一千四百辆战车，一万二千名骑兵，安置在屯车城，在耶路撒冷的王那里。And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15王在耶路撒冷使金银多如石头，香柏木多如谢非拉☛“谢非拉”是音译，意思是“低地”；本卷书下同。的桑树。And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.
16所罗门的马是从埃及☛“埃及”可能不是南方的埃及，而是美索不达米亚北方的一国；下同。和科威☛“科威”可能是“基利家”。运来的，是王的商人按着定价从科威买来的。And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
17他们从埃及进口战车，每辆六百舍客勒银子，马每匹一百五十舍客勒；赫人众王和亚兰诸王的战车和马，也是经由他们的手出口的。And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
