犹大王亚玛谢
（王下14．2－6）
亚玛谢登基的时候年二十五岁，在耶路撒冷作王二十九年。他母亲名叫约耶但，是耶路撒冷人。
Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
2亚玛谢行耶和华眼中看为正的事，只是没有纯正的心。And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.
3他的王国一巩固，就把杀他父王的臣仆杀了，Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.
4却没有处死他们的儿子，这是照摩西律法书上耶和华所吩咐的说：“不可因子杀父，也不可因父杀子，各人要为自己的罪而死。”与以东交战

But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.
5亚玛谢召集犹大人，按着父家为全犹大和便雅悯设立千夫长、百夫长，又数点人数，从二十岁以上，能拿枪拿盾牌出去打仗的精兵共有三十万；Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.
6又用一百他连得银子，从以色列招募了十万大能的勇士。He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.
7有一个神人来见亚玛谢，对他说：“王啊，不要带领以色列的军兵与你同去，因为耶和华不和以色列，和任何以法莲的子孙同在。But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim.
8你若一定要去，就奋勇作战吧！但神必使你败在敌人面前，因为神能助人得胜，也能使人落败。”But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.
9亚玛谢问神人：“我给了以色列军队的那一百他连得银子怎么样呢？”神人回答：“耶和华会把比这些更多的赐给你。”And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.
10于是亚玛谢把那从以法莲来的军兵分别出来，叫他们到自己的地方去。他们非常恼怒犹大，气愤地回自己的地方去了。Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.
11亚玛谢壮起胆来，率领他的军队到盐谷，杀了一万西珥人。And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
12犹大人又生擒了一万人，把他们带到西拉山顶上，从西拉山顶扔下去，把他们全都摔碎了。And other ten thousand left alive did the children of Judah carry away captive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces.
13但亚玛谢所打发回去、不许一同出征的那些军兵劫掠犹大各城，从撒玛利亚直到伯．和仑，杀了三千人，抢了许多财物。But the soldiers of the army which Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Bethhoron, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.
14亚玛谢击杀以东人回来以后，他把西珥人的神像带回，立为自己的神明，在它们面前叩拜烧香。Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.
15耶和华的怒气向亚玛谢发作，差派一个先知去见他，对他说：“这些神明不能救自己的百姓脱离你的手，你为何寻求它们呢？”Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?
16先知与王说话的时候，王对他说：“难道我们立你作王的谋士吗？你住口吧！为何要挨打呢？”先知就止住了，却说：“我知道神已定意要消灭你，因为你行这事，不听从我的劝戒。”与以色列争战
（王下14．8－20）
And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
17犹大王亚玛谢经商议后，就派人去见耶户的孙子，约哈斯的儿子以色列王约阿施，说：“来，让我们面对面较量吧！”Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face.
18以色列王约阿施派人去见犹大王亚玛谢，说：“黎巴嫩的蒺藜派人去见黎巴嫩的香柏树，说：‘将你的女儿嫁给我的儿子。’但有一只野兽经过黎巴嫩，把蒺藜践踏了。And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
19你说，看哪，你打败了以东，就心高气傲，以此为荣。现在，你待在家里算了吧，为何要惹祸使自己和犹大一同败亡呢？”Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thine heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
20亚玛谢却不肯听从。这是出乎神，好将他们交在敌人手里，因为他们寻求以东的神明。But Amaziah would not hear; for it came of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom.
21于是以色列王约阿施上来，在犹大的伯．示麦与犹大王亚玛谢面对面较量。So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they saw one another in the face, both he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
22犹大败在以色列面前，他们逃跑，各人逃回自己的帐棚去了。And Judah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent.
23以色列王约阿施在伯．示麦擒住约哈斯☛“约哈斯”就是“亚哈谢”；参王下14．13。的孙子，约阿施的儿子犹大王亚玛谢，把他带到耶路撒冷，又拆毁耶路撒冷的城墙，从以法莲门直到角门共四百肘。And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Bethshemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
24他带着俄别．以东所看守神殿里的一切金银和器皿，与王宫里的财宝，又带着人质，回撒玛利亚去了。And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obededom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
25约哈斯的儿子以色列王约阿施死后，犹大王约阿施的儿子亚玛谢又活了十五年。And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
26亚玛谢其余的事，自始至终，看哪，不都写在《犹大和以色列诸王记》上吗？Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?
27自从亚玛谢离弃耶和华之后，在耶路撒冷有人背叛他，他就逃往拉吉；他们却派人追到拉吉，在那里杀了他。Now after the time that Amaziah did turn away from following the LORD they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there.
28有人用马将他驮回，把他与祖先一同葬在犹大的城☛“犹大的城”：有古卷和七十士译本是“大卫城”；参王下14．20。。And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
