拉结见自己不给雅各生孩子，就嫉妒她姊姊，对雅各说：“你给我孩子，不然，让我死了吧。”
And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.
2雅各对拉结生气，说：“是我代替神使你生不出孩子的吗？”And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?
3拉结说：“看哪，我的使女辟拉在这里，你可以与她同房，使她生子归在我膝下，我也可以藉着她得孩子☛“得孩子”：原文是“被建立”。。”And she said, Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.
4拉结就把她的婢女辟拉给丈夫为妾，雅各与她同房。And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife: and Jacob went in unto her.
5辟拉怀孕，为雅各生了一个儿子。And Bilhah conceived, and bare Jacob a son.
6拉结给他起名叫但☛“但”意思是“伸冤、审判”。，说：“神为我伸冤，也听了我的声音，赐给我一个儿子。”And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.
7拉结的婢女辟拉又怀孕，为雅各生了第二个儿子。And Bilhah Rachel's maid conceived again, and bare Jacob a second son.
8拉结给他起名叫拿弗他利☛“拿弗他利”意思是“较力”。，说：“我与我姊姊大大较力，并且得胜了。”And Rachel said, With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.
9利亚见自己停了生育，就把她的婢女悉帕给雅各为妾。When Leah saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah her maid, and gave her Jacob to wife.
10利亚的婢女悉帕为雅各生了一个儿子。And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a son.
11利亚给他起名叫迦得☛“迦得”意思是“幸运”。，说：“真是幸运！”And Leah said, A troop cometh: and she called his name Gad.
12利亚的婢女悉帕又为雅各生了第二个儿子。And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a second son.
13利亚给他起名叫亚设☛“亚设”意思是“有福”。，说：“我真有福啊，众女子都要称我有福。”And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher.
14收割麦子的时候，吕便到田里去，找到曼陀罗草☛“曼陀罗草”或译“爱情花”；下同。，就拿给他的母亲利亚。拉结对利亚说：“请你给我一些你儿子的曼陀罗草吧。”And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.
15利亚对她说：“你夺走了我的丈夫还是小事吗？你还要夺取我儿子的曼陀罗草吗？”拉结说：“今夜他可以与你同寝，来交换你儿子的曼陀罗草。”And she said unto her, Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son's mandrakes.
16到了晚上，雅各从田里回来，利亚出来迎接他，说：“你要与我同寝，因为我真的用我儿子的曼陀罗草把你雇下了。”那一夜，雅各就与她同寝。And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son's mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.
17神应允了利亚，她就怀孕，为雅各生了第五个儿子。And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare Jacob the fifth son.
18利亚给他起名叫以萨迦☛“以萨迦”意思是“工价”。，说：“神给了我工价，因为我把婢女给了我的丈夫。”And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.
19利亚又怀孕，为雅各生了第六个儿子。And Leah conceived again, and bare Jacob the sixth son.
20利亚给他起名叫西布伦☛“西布伦”意思是“看重、同住”。，说：“神赐给我厚礼了；这次，我丈夫必看重我，因为我为他生了六个儿子。”And Leah said, God hath endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.
21后来她又生了一个女儿，给她起名叫底拿。And afterwards she bare a daughter, and called her name Dinah.
22神顾念拉结，应允她，使她能生育。And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.
23拉结怀孕生子，说：“神除去了我的羞耻。”And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach:
24拉结就给他起名叫约瑟☛“约瑟”意思是“增添”。，说：“愿耶和华再增添一个儿子给我。”雅各和拉班定工资
And she called his name Joseph; and said, The LORD shall add to me another son.
25拉结生约瑟之后，雅各对拉班说：“请让我走，回到我的本乡本土去。And it came to pass, when Rachel had born Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Send me away, that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country.
26请你把我服事你所得的妻子和孩子给我，让我走吧！我怎样服事你，你都知道。”Give me my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, and let me go: for thou knowest my service which I have done thee.
27拉班对他说：“愿你看得起我，因我占卜得知，耶和华赐福给我是因你的缘故。”And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.
28又说：“请为我定你的工资，我就给你。”And he said, Appoint me thy wages, and I will give it.
29雅各对他说：“我怎样服事你，你的牲畜在我这里变得怎样，你都知道。And he said unto him, Thou knowest how I have served thee, and how thy cattle was with me.
30我未来以前，你拥有的很少，现在却已大量增加，因为耶和华随着我的脚步赐福给你。现在，我到什么时候才可以成家立业呢？”For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude; and the LORD hath blessed thee since my coming: and now when shall I provide for mine own house also?
31拉班说：“我该给你什么呢？”雅各说：“你什么也不必给我，只要你为我做这件事，我就继续牧放你的羊群。And he said, What shall I give thee? And Jacob said, Thou shalt not give me any thing: if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep thy flock.
32今天我要走遍你的羊群，把绵羊中凡有点的、有斑的，和小绵羊中凡是黑色的羊；以及山羊中凡有斑的、有点的，都从那里挑出来，作为我的工资。I will pass through all thy flock to day, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats: and of such shall be my hire.
33以后你来当面查看我的工资，任何我这里的山羊不是有点有斑的，小绵羊不是黑色的，就算是我偷的。这就可以证明我是正直的。”So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before thy face: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me.
34拉班说：“看哪，就照你所说的做吧。”And Laban said, Behold, I would it might be according to thy word.
35当日，拉班把有纹的、有斑的公山羊，一切有点的、有斑的、有少许白色☛“白色”与“拉班”的希伯来文同字。的母山羊，以及小绵羊中所有黑色的☛“所有黑色的”或译“全黑的”；40节同。，都挑出来，交在他儿子们的手里，And he removed that day the he goats that were ringstraked and spotted, and all the she goats that were speckled and spotted, and every one that had some white in it, and all the brown among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.
36又使自己和雅各相隔三天的路程。雅各就牧放拉班其余的羊。And he set three days' journey betwixt himself and Jacob: and Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.
37雅各拿杨树、杏树、枫树的嫩枝，把皮剥出白色的条纹，使枝子露出白色来。And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chestnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.
38他把剥了皮的枝子对着羊群，插在羊喝水的水沟和水槽里。羊来喝水的时候，它们彼此交配。And he set the rods which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.
39羊对着枝子交配，就生下有纹的、有点的、有斑的来。And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.
40雅各把小绵羊分出来，让羊对着拉班羊群中有纹的和所有黑色的。于是他把自己的羊群分开，不叫它们和拉班的羊混在一起。And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban's cattle.
41当肥壮的羊交配的时候，雅各就把枝子插在水沟里，使羊对着枝子交配。And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger cattle did conceive, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.
42可是当瘦弱的羊交配的时候，他就不插枝子。这样，瘦弱的就归拉班，肥壮的就归雅各。But when the cattle were feeble, he put them not in: so the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.
43于是这人极其发达，拥有许多的羊群、奴仆、婢女、骆驼和驴。And the man increased exceedingly, and had much cattle, and maidservants, and menservants, and camels, and asses.
