以撒住在基拉耳
那地有了饥荒，不是亚伯拉罕的时候曾有过的那次饥荒，以撒就到基拉耳，非利士人的王亚比米勒那里去。
And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
2耶和华向以撒显现，说：“你不要下埃及去，要住在我所指示你的地。And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
3你要寄居在这地，我必与你同在，赐福给你，因为我要将这一切的地都赐给你和你的后裔。我必坚定我向你父亲亚伯拉罕所起的誓。Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
4我要使你的后裔增多，好像天上的星，又要将这一切的地赐给你的后裔，并且地上的万国都必因你的后裔得福，And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
5因为亚伯拉罕听从我的话，遵守我的吩咐、诫令、律例和教导。”Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
6于是，以撒住在基拉耳。And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:
7那地方的人问起他的妻子，他就说：“她是我的妹妹。”原来他害怕说“我的妻子”。他想：“或许这地方的人会因利百加杀我，因为她容貌美丽。”And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.
8他在那里住了一段很长的日子。有一天，非利士人的王亚比米勒从窗户往外观看，看哪，以撒在抚爱他的妻子利百加。And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.
9亚比米勒召以撒来，说：“看哪，她实在是你的妻子，你怎么说‘她是我的妹妹’呢？”以撒对他说：“因为我想，恐怕我会因她而死。”And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.
10亚比米勒说：“你向我们做的是什么事呢？百姓中有一个人几乎要和你的妻子同寝，你就把我们陷在罪中了。”And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.
11于是亚比米勒命令众百姓说：“凡侵犯这个人，或他妻子的，必要把他处死。”And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.
12以撒在那地耕种，那一年有百倍的收成。耶和华赐福给他，Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
13他就发达，日渐昌盛，成了大富翁。And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
14他有羊群牛群，又有许多仆人，非利士人就嫉妒他。For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
15他父亲亚伯拉罕在世的时候，他父亲的仆人所挖的井，非利士人全都塞住，填满了土。For all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.
16亚比米勒对以撒说：“你离开我们去吧，因为你比我们强盛得多。”And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.
17以撒就离开那里，在基拉耳谷支搭帐棚，住在那里。And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.
18他父亲亚伯拉罕在世的时候所挖的水井，在亚伯拉罕死后，都被非利士人塞住了，以撒就重新把井挖出来，仍照他父亲所取的名为它们命名。And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.
19以撒的仆人在谷中挖井，就在那里得了一口活水井。And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.
20基拉耳的牧人与以撒的牧人相争，说：“这水是我们的。”以撒就给那井起名叫埃色☛“埃色”意思是“相争”。，因为他们和他相争。And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.
21以撒的仆人又挖了一口井，他们又为这井相争，以撒就给这井起名叫西提拿☛“西提拿”意思是“为敌”。。And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.
22以撒离开那里，又挖了一口井，他们不再为这井相争了，他就给那井起名叫利河伯☛“利河伯”意思是“宽阔”。。他说：“耶和华现在给我们宽阔之地，我们必在这地兴旺。”And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
23以撒从那里上别是巴去。And he went up from thence to Beersheba.
24当夜耶和华向他显现，说：“我是你父亲亚伯拉罕的神。不要惧怕，因为我与你同在，要赐福给你，也要为我仆人亚伯拉罕的缘故，使你的后裔增多。”And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.
25以撒就在那里筑了一座坛，求告耶和华的名，并且在那里支搭帐棚；他的仆人就在那里挖了一口井。以撒与亚比米勒立约
And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants digged a well.
26亚比米勒同他的顾问亚户撒和他军队的元帅非各，从基拉耳来到以撒那里。Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.
27以撒对他们说：“你们既然恨我，赶我离开你们，为什么又到我这里来呢？”And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?
28他们说：“我们明明看见耶和华与你同在；因此就说，让我们双方彼此起誓，我们跟你立约，And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;
29使你不加害我们，正如我们未曾侵犯你，素来善待你，并且送你平平安安地走。你是蒙耶和华赐福的！”That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.
30以撒为他们摆设宴席，他们就一起吃喝。And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.
31他们清早起来，彼此起誓。以撒送他们走，他们就平平安安地离开他去了。And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.
32那一天，以撒的仆人来，把挖井的消息告诉他，说：“我们得到水了。”And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac's servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water.
33他就给那井起名叫示巴☛“示巴”与“起誓”的希伯来话发音相近。，因此那城名叫别是巴☛“别是巴”意思是“起誓的井”或“七井”。，直到今日。以扫的外族妻子
And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beersheba unto this day.
34以扫四十岁的时候娶了赫人比利的女儿犹滴，和赫人以伦的女儿巴实抹为妻。And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:
35她们使以撒和利百加心里愁烦。Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.
