雅各和以扫相见
雅各举目观看，看哪，以扫来了，有四百人和他一起。雅各就把孩子们分开交给利亚、拉结和两个婢女。
And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
2他叫两个婢女和她们的孩子走在前头，利亚和她的孩子跟在后面，而拉结和约瑟在最后。And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
3他自己却走到他们前面，一连七次俯伏在地才挨近他哥哥。And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4以扫跑来迎接他，将他抱住，伏在他的颈项上亲他，他们都哭了。And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
5以扫举目看见妇人和孩子，就说：“这些和你一起的是谁呢？”雅各说：“这些孩子是神施恩给你仆人的。”And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.
6于是两个婢女和她们的孩子前来下拜，Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
7利亚和她的孩子也前来下拜，随后约瑟和拉结也前来下拜。And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8以扫说：“我所遇见的这些畜群是什么意思呢？”雅各说：“是为了要在我主眼前蒙恩。”And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
9以扫说：“弟弟啊，我的已经够了，你的你自己留着吧！”And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.
10雅各说：“不，我若在你眼前蒙恩，就请你从我手里收下这礼物；因为我见了你的面，如同见了神的面，并且你也宽容了我。And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
11请你收下我带来给你的礼物，因为神恩待我，使我一切都充足。”雅各再三求他，他才收下。Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
12以扫说：“让我们起身前行，我和你一起走吧。”And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
13雅各对他说：“我主知道孩子们还年幼娇嫩，我的牛羊也正在哺乳中，只要催赶一天，群羊都会死了。And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
14请我主在仆人前面先走，我要按着在我面前的牲畜和孩子的步伐慢慢前进，直走到西珥我主那里。”Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
15以扫说：“让我把跟随我的人留几个在你这里。”雅各说：“何必这样呢？只要能在我主眼前蒙恩就够了。”And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
16于是，以扫当日起行，回西珥去了。So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
17雅各就往疏割去，在那里为自己盖房屋，又为牲畜搭棚，因此那地方叫疏割 ☛“疏割”意思是“棚”。 。And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
18雅各从巴旦．亚兰平安地回到迦南地的示剑城，他在城的前面支搭帐棚。And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.
19他用一百可锡塔☛“可锡塔”：古希伯来钱币单位；参“度量衡表”。从示剑的父亲哈抹的众子手中买了搭帐棚的那块地。And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.
20雅各在那里筑了一座坛，起名叫伊利．伊罗伊．以色列☛“伊利．伊罗伊．以色列”意思是“神─以色列的神”。。And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael.
