与亚玛力人争战
第三日，大卫和他的人到了洗革拉。亚玛力人已经侵夺尼革夫和洗革拉。他们攻破洗革拉，用火焚烧。
And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;
2他们掳去城内的妇女和城中的大小人口，一个都没有杀，全都带走，他们就上路去了。And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.
3大卫和他的人到了那城，看哪，城已被火烧毁，他们的妻子儿女都被掳去了。So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.
4大卫和跟随他的百姓就放声大哭，直到没有气力再哭。Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
5大卫的两个妻子，耶斯列人亚希暖和作过拿八妻子的迦密人亚比该，也被掳去了。And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
6大卫非常焦急，因为众百姓为自己的儿女痛心，说要用石头打死他。大卫却倚靠耶和华─他的神，坚定自己。And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
7大卫对亚希米勒的儿子亚比亚他祭司说：“请你把以弗得拿来给我。”亚比亚他就把以弗得拿给大卫。And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.
8大卫求问耶和华说：“我追赶这群人，是否追得上呢？”耶和华对他说：“你可以追，一定追得上，也一定救得回来。”And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
9于是，大卫出发，他和跟随他的六百人来到比梭溪，那些不能前去的就留在那里。So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.
10大卫带着四百人往前追赶；有二百人疲乏，不能过比梭溪，留在那里。But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.
11这四百人在田野遇见一个埃及人，就带他到大卫面前，给他饼吃，给他水喝，And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water;
12又给他一块无花果饼，两个葡萄干饼。他吃了，精神就恢复了，因为他三日三夜没有吃饼，没有喝水。And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.
13大卫对他说：“你是谁的人？你从哪里来？”他说：“我是埃及的青年，是亚玛力人的奴仆。因为我三天前生病，我主人就把我撇弃了。And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick.
14我们侵夺了基利提的南方和属犹大的地，以及迦勒地的南方，又用火烧了洗革拉。”We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.
15大卫对他说：“你肯领我们下到那群人那里吗？”他说：“你要向我指着神起誓，你不杀我，也不把我交在我主人手里，我就领你下到那群人那里。”And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company.
16那人领大卫下去，看哪，他们分散在全地面，吃喝跳舞，因为他们从非利士人的地和犹大地掳来的财物非常多。And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
17大卫击杀他们，从黎明直到次日晚上，除了四百个骑骆驼逃走的青年之外，一个也没有逃脱。And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.
18亚玛力人所掳去的财物，大卫全都夺回，并救回他的两个妻子。And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives.
19凡亚玛力人所掳去的，无论大小、儿女、掠物和一切被掳去的，大卫全都夺回来。And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.
20大卫所夺来的牛群羊群，有人赶在群畜前面，说：“这是大卫的掠物。”And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those other cattle, and said, This is David's spoil.
21大卫到了那疲乏不能跟随、留在比梭溪的二百人那里。他们出来迎接大卫和跟随他的百姓。大卫上前向他们问安。And David came to the two hundred men, which were so faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he saluted them.
22跟随大卫去的人中，每一个恶人和无赖都说：“这些人既然没有和我同去，我们所夺的财物就不分给他们，只把他们各人的妻子儿女给他们，让他们带回去就好了。”Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.
23大卫说：“我的弟兄，耶和华所赐给我们的，你们不可这么做，因为他保佑了我们，把那群来攻击我们的人交在我们手里。Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the LORD hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.
24谁肯在这事上听你们呢？上阵的分得多少，留下看守物件的也分得多少，大家应当平分。”For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
25从那日起，大卫定此为以色列的律例典章，直到今日。And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.
26大卫到了洗革拉，从掠物中取些送给他的朋友，就是犹大的长老，说：“看哪，这是从耶和华仇敌那里夺来的，送给你们作礼物。”And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the LORD;
27有在伯特利☛“伯特利”可能是“彼土利”；参代上 4．30。的，尼革夫之拉末的，雅提珥的，To them which were in Bethel, and to them which were in south Ramoth, and to them which were in Jattir,
28有在亚罗珥的，息末的，以实提莫的，And to them which were in Aroer, and to them which were in Siphmoth, and to them which were in Eshtemoa,
29有在拉哈勒的，耶拉篾各城的，基尼各城的，And to them which were in Rachal, and to them which were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to them which were in the cities of the Kenites,
30有在何珥玛的，坡拉珊☛“坡拉珊”：有古卷是“歌拉珊”。的，亚挞的，And to them which were in Hormah, and to them which were in Chorashan, and to them which were in Athach,
31有在希伯仑的，以及大卫和跟随他的人经常进出之处的。And to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt.
