户筛破坏亚希多弗的计谋
亚希多弗对押沙龙说：“请让我挑选一万二千人，今夜起身追赶大卫。
Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:
2我必趁他疲乏手软的时候追上他，使他惊惶。跟随他的众百姓必都逃跑，我就只杀王一个人。And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:
3我必使众百姓都归顺你，正如众人归顺你所追杀的人一样☛“正如...一样”：七十士译本是“如同新娘归回丈夫一样，你单追杀一人”。，众百姓就都平安无事了。”And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.
4这话在押沙龙和以色列众长老的眼中都看为好。And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.
5押沙龙说：“把亚基人户筛也召来，我们也要听他怎么说。”Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.
6户筛到了押沙龙那里，押沙龙向他说：“亚希多弗说了这样的话，我们要照他的话做吗？若不可，你就说吧！”And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.
7户筛对押沙龙说：“亚希多弗这次所出的主意不好。”And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.
8户筛又说：“你知道，你父亲和他的人都是勇士，他们心里恼怒，如同田野中失去小熊的母熊一样；而且你父亲是个战士，必不和百姓一同住宿。For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
9看哪，他现今或藏在一个坑中或在别处，若我们☛“我们”是根据七十士译本的一些抄本；原文是“他们”。有人首先被杀，听见的必说：‘跟随押沙龙的百姓被杀了。’Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.
10虽有勇士胆大如狮子，他的心也必定融化，因为全以色列都知道你父亲是英雄，跟随他的人都是勇士。And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.
11依我之计，要把如同海边的沙那样多的以色列众人，从但直到别是巴，聚集到你这里来，由你亲自率领他们出战。Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.
12我们到他那里，在任何地方遇见他，就突然临到他，如同露水滴在泥土上。这样，他和所有跟随他的人，一个也不留。So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.
13他若撤退到一座城，以色列众人必带绳子去那城，把城拉到河里，甚至连一块小石子也找不到。”Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.
14押沙龙和以色列众人都说：“亚基人户筛的计谋比亚希多弗的更好！”这是因为耶和华定意破坏亚希多弗的良谋，为的是耶和华要降祸给押沙龙。And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.
大卫获警告而逃脱
15户筛对撒督和亚比亚他二位祭司说：“亚希多弗为押沙龙和以色列的长老出的主意是如此如此，我出的主意是如此如此。Then said Hushai unto Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled.
16现在你们要急速派人去告诉大卫说：‘今夜不可在旷野的渡口住宿，务要过河，免得王和所有跟随他的百姓都被吞灭。’”Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people that are with him.
17约拿单和亚希玛斯在隐．罗结等候，不敢进城，恐怕被人看见。有一个婢女出来，把这话告诉他们，他们就去报信给大卫王。Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by Enrogel; for they might not be seen to come into the city: and a wench went and told them; and they went and told king David.
18然而有一个僮仆看见他们，就去告诉押沙龙。他们二人急忙离开，跑到巴户琳一个人的家里。那人院中有一口井，他们就下到那里。Nevertheless a lad saw them, and told Absalom: but they went both of them away quickly, and came to a man's house in Bahurim, which had a well in his court; whither they went down.
19那家的妇人用盖盖上井口，又在上头铺上碎麦，事情就没有泄漏。And the woman took and spread a covering over the well's mouth, and spread ground corn thereon; and the thing was not known.
20押沙龙的仆人来到妇人的家，说：“亚希玛斯和约拿单在哪里？”妇人对他们说：“他们过了河了。”仆人搜寻，却找不着，就回耶路撒冷去了。And when Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.
21他们走后，二人从井里上来，去告诉大卫王。他们对大卫说：“亚希多弗出这样的主意要害你，你们起来，快快过河。”And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David, and said unto David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus hath Ahithophel counselled against you.
22于是大卫和所有跟随他的百姓都起来，过约旦河。到了天亮，无一人不过约旦河的。Then David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan.
23亚希多弗见他的计谋不被接纳，就备上驴，动身归回本城，到了自己的家。他留下遗嘱给他的家，就上吊死了，葬在他父亲的坟墓里。And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.
24大卫到了玛哈念，押沙龙和跟随他的以色列众人也都过了约旦河。Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
25押沙龙立亚玛撒作元帅，取代约押。亚玛撒是以实玛利人☛“以实玛利人”是根据七十士译本的一些抄本；原文是“以色列人”；参代上2．17。以特拉的儿子。以特拉曾与拿辖☛“拿辖”：七十士译本是“耶西”；参代上2．16。的女儿亚比该亲近；这亚比该与约押的母亲洗鲁雅是姊妹。And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa was a man's son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab's mother.
26押沙龙和以色列人安营在基列地。So Israel and Absalom pitched in the land of Gilead.
27大卫到了玛哈念，亚扪族的拉巴人拿辖的儿子朔比，罗．底巴人亚米利的儿子玛吉，来自罗基琳的基列人巴西莱，And it came to pass, when David was come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lodebar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,
28带着被褥、盆、瓦器，还有小麦、大麦、麦面、烤熟的谷穗、豆子、红豆、炒豆、Brought beds, and basons, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched corn, and beans, and lentiles, and parched pulse,
29蜂蜜、奶油、绵羊、奶饼，供给大卫和跟随他的人吃，因为他们想：“百姓在旷野中，必定又饥渴又疲乏。”And honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat: for they said, The people is hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.
