十诫
（申5．1－21）
神吩咐这一切的话，说：
And God spake all these words, saying,
2“我是耶和华－你的神，曾将你从埃及地为奴之家领出来。I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3“除了我以外，你不可有别的神。Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4“不可为自己雕刻偶像，也不可做什么形像，仿佛上天、下地和地底下水中的百物。Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5不可跪拜那些像，也不可事奉它们，因为我耶和华─你的神是忌邪☛“忌邪”：原文是“妒忌”，意思是“不容许有对立的神明”。的神。恨我的，我必惩罚他们的罪，自父及子，直到三、四代；Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6爱我，守我诫命的，我必向他们施慈爱，直到千代。And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7“不可妄称耶和华－你神的名，因为妄称耶和华名的，耶和华必不以他为无罪。Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8“当记念安息日，守为圣日。Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9六日要劳碌做你一切的工，Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10但第七日是向耶和华─你的神当守的安息日。这一日你和你的儿女、奴仆、婢女、牲畜，以及你城里寄居的客旅，都不可做任何的工。But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11因为六日之内，耶和华造天、地、海和其中的万物，第七日就安息了；所以耶和华赐福与安息日，定为圣日。For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12“当孝敬父母，使你的日子在耶和华－你神所赐你的地上得以长久。Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13“不可杀人。Thou shalt not kill.
14“不可奸淫。Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15“不可偷盗。Thou shalt not steal.
16“不可做假见证陷害你的邻舍。Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17“不可贪恋你邻舍的房屋；不可贪恋你邻舍的妻子、奴仆、婢女、牛驴，以及他一切所有的。”众民战惧
（申5．22－23）
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
18众百姓见雷轰、闪电、角声、山上冒烟，百姓看见☛“看见”：撒玛利亚五经、七十士译本和其他古译本是“害怕”。就都战抖，远远站着。And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.
19他们对摩西说：“请你向我们说话，我们必听；不要让神向我们说话，免得我们死亡。”And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
20摩西对百姓说：“不要害怕；因为神降临是要考验你们，要你们敬畏他，不致犯罪。”And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
21于是百姓远远站着，但摩西却挨近神所在的幽暗中。And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.
祭坛的条例
22耶和华对摩西说：“你要向以色列人这样说：‘你们亲自看见我从天上向你们说话了。And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.
23你们不可为我制造偶像，不可为自己造任何金银的神像。Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.
24你要为我筑一座土坛，在上面献牛羊为燔祭和平安祭。凡在我叫你记念我名的地方，我必到那里赐福给你。An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.
25你若为我筑一座石坛，不可用凿过的石头，因为你在石头上动了工具，就使坛污秽了。And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.
26你不可用台阶上我的坛，免得露出你的下体来。’”Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
