以色列人在西奈山
以色列人出埃及地以后，第三个月的初一，就在那一天他们来到了西奈的旷野。
In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.
2他们从利非订起程，来到西奈的旷野，在那里的山下安营。For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.
3摩西到神那里，耶和华从山上呼唤他说：“你要这样告诉雅各家，对以色列人说：And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
4‘我向埃及人所行的事，你们都看见了， 我如鹰将你们背在翅膀上，带你们来归我。Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.
5如今你们若真的听从我的话，遵守我的约，就要在万民中作属我的子民☛“子民”：原文是“宝贵的产业”。，因为全地都是我的。Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6你们要归我作祭司的国度，为神圣的国民。’这些话你要告诉以色列人。”And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
7摩西去召了百姓中的长老来，将耶和华吩咐他的话当面告诉他们。And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.
8百姓都同声回答：“凡耶和华所说的，我们一定遵行。”摩西就将百姓的话回覆耶和华。And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.
9耶和华对摩西说：“看哪，我要在密云中临到你那里，叫百姓在我与你说话的时候可以听见，就可以永远相信你了。”于是，摩西将百姓的话禀告耶和华。And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.
10耶和华对摩西说：“你往百姓那里去，使他们今天明天分别为圣，又叫他们洗衣服。And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,
11第三天要预备好，因为第三天耶和华要在众百姓眼前降临在西奈山。And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.
12你要在山的周围给百姓划定界限，说：‘你们当谨慎，不可上山去，也不可摸山的边界。凡摸这山的，必被处死。And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:
13不可用手碰他，要用石头打死，或射死；无论是人是牲畜，都不可活。’到角声拉长的时候，他们才可到山脚来。”There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
14摩西下山到百姓那里去，使他们分别为圣，他们就洗衣服。And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
15他对百姓说：“第三天要预备好；不可亲近女人。”And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.
16到了第三天早晨，山上有雷轰、闪电和密云，并且角声非常响亮，营中的百姓尽都战抖。And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.
17摩西率领百姓出营迎见神，都站在山下。And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.
18西奈山全山冒烟，因为耶和华在火中降临山上。山的烟雾上腾，仿佛烧窑，整座山剧烈震动。And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
19角声越来越响，摩西说话，神以声音回答他。And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.
20耶和华降临在西奈山顶上，耶和华召摩西上山顶，摩西就上去了。And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.
21耶和华对摩西说：“你下去警告百姓，免得他们闯过来看耶和华，就会有许多人死亡。And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.
22那些亲近耶和华的祭司也要把自己分别为圣，免得耶和华忽然出来击杀他们。”And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.
23摩西对耶和华说：“百姓不能上西奈山，因为你已经警告我们说：‘要在山的周围划定界限，使山成圣。’”And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.
24耶和华对他说：“下去吧，你要和亚伦一起上来；只是祭司和百姓不可闯上来到耶和华这里，免得耶和华忽然出来击杀他们。”And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.
25于是，摩西下到百姓那里告诉他们。So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.
