大鹰和葡萄树的比喻
耶和华的话临到我，说：
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2“人子啊，你要向以色列家出谜语，设比喻，Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;
3说，主耶和华如此说：有一只大鹰，翅膀大，翎毛长，羽毛丰满，色彩缤纷；它飞到黎巴嫩，啄去香柏树梢，And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:
4啄断它顶端的嫩枝，叼到贸易之地，放在商业城中。He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.
5它又从这地取了一些种子，种在肥沃的田里，栽于丰沛的水源旁，如种植柳树。He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.
6它渐渐生长，成为低矮蔓生的葡萄树；树枝伸向那鹰，根部在它下面。这样，它就长成了一棵葡萄树，生出枝子，长出枝干。And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
7“有一只☛“一只”：七十士译本是“另一只”。大鹰，翅膀大，羽毛多。看哪，葡萄树从栽种它的苗圃向这鹰伸出根来，长出枝子，期盼从它得到浇灌。There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.
8这棵树栽于肥田丰沛的水源旁，原是为了生枝、结果，成为佳美的葡萄树。It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.
9你要说，主耶和华如此说：这棵葡萄树岂能发旺呢？鹰岂不拔出它的根来，摘光它的果子，使它枯干，连长出的嫩叶都枯萎了吗？要把它连根拔除，并不需要费大力或动用许多人。Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.
10看哪，葡萄树虽然栽种了，岂能发旺呢？一经东风击打，岂不全然枯干了吗？它必在生长的苗圃中枯干了。”解释比喻
Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
11耶和华的话临到我，说：Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
12“你要对那悖逆之家说：你们不知道这些事是什么意思吗？你要这样说，看哪，巴比伦王曾到耶路撒冷，把其中的君王和官长带到巴比伦去，Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;
13又从以色列王室后裔中选取一人，与他立约，令他发誓，又掳走国中有势力的人，And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:
14使王国衰弱，不再强盛，只能靠守盟约方得生存。That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.
15他却背叛巴比伦王，差派使者前往埃及，要求埃及人给他马匹和许多人。他岂能亨通呢？这样做的人岂能逃脱呢？他背了约岂能逃脱呢？But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
16主耶和华说：我指着我的永生起誓，他定要死在巴比伦，就是巴比伦王所在之处；因为巴比伦王立他为王，他竟轻看向王所起的誓，背弃王与他所立的约。As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
17当敌人建土堆，筑堡垒，要歼灭许多人时，法老虽有强大军队和大批人马，在战场上还是不能帮助他。Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
18他轻看誓言，背弃盟约，看哪，虽已投降☛“投降”：原文直译“伸出他的手”。，却又做这一切的事，他必不能逃脱。Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.
19所以主耶和华如此说：我指着我的永生起誓，他既轻看我的誓言，背弃我的约，我必使这罪归到他头上。Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.
20我要把我的网撒在他身上，他就被我的罗网缠住。我要带他到巴比伦，在那里因他背叛我的罪惩罚他。And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.
21所有逃跑的☛“逃跑的”：有些古卷是“精锐的”。军队必倒在刀下；剩余的也必分散四方☛“方”：原文是“风”。。你们就知道说这话的是我─耶和华。”神对将来的应许
And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
22主耶和华如此说：“我要从香柏树高高的树梢摘取并栽上，从顶端的嫩枝中折下一嫩枝，栽于极高的山上，Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
23栽在以色列高处的山上。它就生枝、结果，成为高大的香柏树，各类飞禽中的鸟都来宿在其下，宿在枝子的荫下☛“各类飞禽...荫下”：七十士译本是“各类动物都来宿在其下，各类飞鸟宿在枝子的荫下”。。In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
24田野的树木因此就知道是我─耶和华使高树矮小，使矮树高大，使绿树枯干，使枯树发旺。我─耶和华说了这话，就必成就。”And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.
