The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
2地上因有罪过,君王就多更换; 因聪明和有见识的人,国必长存。For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
3穷乏人欺压贫寒人, 好像暴雨扫过,不留粮食。A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
4离弃律法的,夸奖恶人; 遵守律法的,却与恶人相争。They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
5恶人不明白公义; 惟有寻求耶和华的,无不明白。Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
6行为纯正的穷乏人 胜过行事歪曲的有钱人。Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
7谨守教诲的,是聪明之子; 与贪食者为伍的,却羞辱其父。Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
8人以厚利增加财富, 是给那怜悯贫寒人的积财。He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
9转耳不听教诲的, 他的祈祷也可憎。He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
10诱惑正直人行恶道的,必掉在自己的坑里; 惟有完全人必承受福分。Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
11有钱人自以为有智慧, 但聪明的贫寒人能看穿他。The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
12义人高升,有大荣耀; 恶人兴起,人就躲藏。When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.
13遮掩自己过犯的,必不顺利; 承认且离弃过犯的,必蒙怜悯。He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
14常存敬畏的,这人有福了; 心里刚硬的,必陷在祸患里。Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
15邪恶的君王压制贫民, 好像吼叫的狮子,又如觅食的熊。As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.
16无知的君王多行暴虐; 恨恶非分之财的,必年长日久。The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
17背负流人血之罪的,必逃跑直到地府; 愿无人帮助他!A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.
18行为正直的,必蒙拯救; 行事弯曲的,立时跌倒。Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
19耕种自己田地的,粮食充足; 追求虚浮的,穷困潦倒。He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
20诚实人必多得福; 想要急速发财的,难免受罚。A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
21看人情面是不好的; 却有人因一块饼而犯法。To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.
22守财奴☛“守财奴”:原文直译“眼目邪恶的人”。想要急速发财, 却不知穷乏必临到他身上。He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
23责备人的,后来蒙人喜悦, 多于那用舌头谄媚人的。He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
24抢夺父母竟说“这不是罪过”, 此人与毁灭者同类。Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.
25心中贪婪的,挑起争端; 倚靠耶和华的,必得丰裕。He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
26心中自以为是的,就是愚昧人; 凭智慧行事的,必蒙拯救。He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
27周济穷乏人的,不致缺乏; 遮眼不看的,多受诅咒。He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
28恶人兴起,人就躲藏; 恶人败亡,义人必增多。When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
