奉神旨意，按照基督耶稣里所应许的生命，作基督耶稣使徒的保罗，
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
2写信给我亲爱的儿子提摩太。愿恩惠、怜悯、平安☛“平安”或译“和平”。从父神和我们的主基督耶稣归给你！忠于福音
To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3我感谢神，就是我接续祖先用纯洁的良心所事奉的神，在祈祷中昼夜不停地想念你。I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
4我一想起你的眼泪，就急切想见你，好让我满心快乐。Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
5我记得你无伪的信心，这信心先存在你外祖母罗以和你母亲友妮基的心里，我深信也存在你的心里。When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
6为这缘故，我提醒你要把神藉着我按手所给你的恩赐再如火挑旺起来。Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7因为神赐给我们的不是胆怯的心，而是刚强、仁爱、自制的心。For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8所以，不要以给我们的主作见证为耻，也不要以我这为主被囚的为耻；总要靠着神的大能，与我为福音同受苦难。Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9神救了我们，以圣召召我们，
不是按我们的行为，
而是按他的旨意和恩典；
这恩典是万古之先
在基督耶稣里赐给我们的，
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10但如今藉着我们的救主基督耶稣的显现已经表明出来；
他把死废去，
藉着福音，将不朽的生命彰显出来。
But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
11我为这福音奉派作传道，作使徒，作教师。Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
12为这缘故，我也受这些苦难。然而，我不以为耻，因为我知道我所信的是谁，也深信他能保全他所交托我的☛“他所交托我的”或译“我所信托他的”。，直到那日。For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
13你从我听到那健全的言论，要用在基督耶稣里的信心和爱心常常守着，作为规范。Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
14你要靠着那住在我们里面的圣灵，牢牢守住所交托给你那美好的事。That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
15你知道，所有在亚细亚的人都离弃了我，其中有腓吉路和黑摩其尼。This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
16愿主怜悯阿尼色弗一家的人，因为他屡次令我欣慰。他不以我的铁链为耻，The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:
17反而一到罗马就急切寻找我，并且找到了。But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
18愿主使他在那日能蒙主的怜悯。他在以弗所怎样多服事我，你是清楚知道的。The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
基督耶稣的精兵
我儿啊，你要在基督耶稣的恩典上刚强起来。
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2你在许多见证人面前听见我所教导的，也要交托给那忠心而又能教导别人的人。And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3你要和我同受苦难，作基督耶稣的精兵。Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4凡当兵的，不让世务缠身，好使那招他当兵的人喜悦。No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
5运动员在比赛的时候，不按规则就不能得冠冕。And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
6勤劳的农夫理当先得粮食。The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
7我所说的话，你要考虑，因为主必在凡事上给你聪明。Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
8要记得耶稣基督，他是大卫的后裔，从死人中复活；这就是我所传的福音。Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
9我为这福音受苦难，甚至像犯人一样被捆绑，然而神的话没有被捆绑。Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
10所以，我为了选民事事忍耐，为使他们也能得到那在基督耶稣里的救恩和永远的荣耀。Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11这话是可信的： 我们若与基督同死，也必与他同活；It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12我们若忍耐到底，也必和他一同作王。 我们若不认他，他也必不认我们；If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13我们纵然失信，他仍是可信的， 因为他不能否认自己。无愧的工人
If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
14你要向众人提醒这些事，在神☛“神”：有古卷是“主”。面前嘱咐他们不可在言词上争辩；这是没有益处的，只能伤害听的人。Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15你当竭力在神面前作一个经得起考验、无愧的工人，按着正意讲解真理的话。Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16要远避世俗的空谈，因为这等空谈会使人进到更不敬虔的地步。But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17他们的话如同毒疮越烂越大；其中有许米乃和腓理徒，And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18他们偏离了真理，说复活的事已过去，败坏了好些人的信心。Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19然而，神坚固的根基屹立不移；上面有这印记说：“主认得他自己的人”，又说：“凡称呼主名的人总要离开不义。”Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20大户人家不但有金器银器，也有木器瓦器；有作为贵重之用的，有作为卑贱之用的。But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21人若自洁，脱离卑贱的事，必成为贵重的器皿，成为圣洁，合乎主用，预备行各样的善事。If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
22你要逃避年轻人的私欲，同那以纯洁的心求告主的人追求公义、信实、仁爱、和平。Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23但要弃绝那愚拙无知的辩论，因为你知道这等事只会引起争辩。But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24主的仆人不可争辩，只要温和待人，善于教导，恒心忍耐，And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25用温柔劝导反对的人。也许神会给他们悔改的心能明白真理，In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26让他们这些已被魔鬼掳去顺从他诡计的人能醒悟过来，脱离他的罗网。And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
末世的人性
你该知道，末世必有艰难的日子来到。
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2那时人会专爱自己，贪爱钱财，自夸，狂傲，毁谤，违背父母，忘恩负义，心不圣洁，For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3没有亲情，抗拒和解，好说谗言，不能节制，性情凶暴，不爱良善，Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4卖主卖友，任意妄为，自高自大，爱好宴乐，不爱神，Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5有敬虔的外貌，却背弃了敬虔的实质，这等人你要避开。Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6他们当中有人潜入别人家里，操纵无知的妇女；这些妇女被罪恶压制，被各样的私欲引诱，For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7虽然常常学习，终久无法达到明白真理的地步。Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8从前雅尼和佯庇怎样反对摩西，这等人也怎样抵挡真理；他们的心地败坏，信仰经不起考验。Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9然而，他们没有进步，因为他们的愚昧必在众人面前显露出来，像那两人一样。对提摩太的最后指示
But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
10但你已经追随了我的教导、行为、志向、信心、宽容、爱心、忍耐，But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11以及我在安提阿、以哥念、路司得所遭遇的迫害和苦难。我忍受了何等的迫害！但从这一切苦难中，主都把我救了出来。Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12其实，凡立志在基督耶稣里敬虔度日的，也都将受迫害。Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13只是作恶的和骗人的将变本加厉，迷惑人也被人迷惑。But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14至于你，你要持守所学习的和所确信的，因为你知道是跟谁学的，But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15并且知道你从小明白圣经，这圣经能使你因在基督耶稣里的信☛“因在基督耶稣里的信”或译“因信基督耶稣”。有得救的智慧。And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16圣经都是神所默示的☛“圣经都是神所默示的”或译“凡神所默示的圣经”。，于教训、督责、使人归正、教导人学义都是有益的，All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17叫属神的人得以完全，预备行各样的善事。That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
我在神面前，并在将来审判活人死人的基督耶稣面前，凭着他的显现和他的国度郑重地劝戒你：
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2务要传道；无论得时不得时总要专心，并以百般的忍耐和各样的教导责备人，警戒人，劝勉人。Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3因为时候将到，那时人会厌烦健全的教导，耳朵发痒，就随心所欲地增添好些教师，For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4并且掩耳不听真理，偏向无稽的传说。And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5至于你，凡事要谨慎，忍受苦难，做传福音的工作，尽你的职分。But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6至于我，我已经被浇献，离世的时候到了。For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7那美好的仗我已经打过了，当跑的路我已经跑尽了，该信的道我已经守住了。I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8从此以后，有公义的冠冕为我存留，就是按着公义审判的主到了那日要赐给我的；不但赐给我，也赐给凡爱慕他显现的人。最后的吩咐
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
9你要赶紧到我这里来。Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
10因为底马贪爱现今的世界，已经离弃我，往帖撒罗尼迦去了；革勒士往加拉太去；提多往挞马太去；For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
11只有路加在我这里。你来的时候把马可带来，因为他在服事☛“服事”或译“传道”。上于我有益。Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12我已经打发推基古往以弗所去。And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
13我在特罗亚留给加布的那件外衣，你来的时候要带来，那些书也带来，特别是那几卷羊皮的书。The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
14铜匠亚历山大多方害我；主必照他所行的报应他。Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
15你也要防备他，因为他极力抗拒我们的话。Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16我初次上诉时，没有人前来帮助，竟都离弃了我，但愿这罪不归在他们身上。At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17惟有主站在我身边，加给我力量，使我能把福音完整地传开，让所有的外邦人都听见；我也从狮子口里被救出来。Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18主必救我脱离一切的凶恶，也必救我进他的天国。愿荣耀归给他，直到永永远远。阿们！问安与祝福
And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19请向百基拉、亚居拉和阿尼色弗一家的人问安。Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
20以拉都在哥林多住下了。特罗非摩病了，我把他留在米利都。Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
21你要赶紧在冬天以前到我这里来。友布罗、布田、利奴、革老底亚和众弟兄都向你问安。Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
22愿主与你的灵同在！愿恩惠与你们同在！The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
