居鲁士下令犹太人返国
（代下36．22－23）
波斯王居鲁士元年，耶和华为要应验藉耶利米的口所说的话，就激发波斯王居鲁士的心，使他下诏书通告全国，说：
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
2“波斯王居鲁士如此说：耶和华天上的神已将地上万国赐给我，又委派我在犹大的耶路撒冷为他建造殿宇。Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
3你们中间凡作他子民的，可以上犹大的耶路撒冷去，重建耶和华－以色列神的殿，他是在耶路撒冷的神；愿神与这人同在。Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.
4凡存留的人，无论寄居何处，那地的人要用金银、财物、牲畜帮助他，还要为耶路撒冷神的殿甘心献上礼物。”And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.
5于是，犹大和便雅悯的族长、祭司、利未人，凡是心被神感动的人都起来，要上耶路撒冷去建造耶和华的殿。Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.
6四围所有的人都拿银器☛“银器”：原文另译“一切的东西，银子”。、金子、财物、牲畜、珍宝支持他们☛“支持他们”：原文是“坚固他们的手”。，此外还有甘心献的一切礼物☛“此外还有甘心献的一切礼物”：原文另译“甘心献的礼物很多”。。And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.
7居鲁士王也把耶和华殿的器皿拿出来，这些器皿是尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷掠取，放在自己神明庙中的。Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;
8波斯王居鲁士派米提利达司库把这些器皿拿出来，点交给犹大的领袖设巴萨。Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.
9它们的数目如下：金盘三十个，银盘一千个，刀二十九把，And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,
10金碗三十个，备用银碗四百一十个，其他器皿一千件。Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.
11金银器皿共有五千四百件。被掳的人从巴比伦上耶路撒冷的时候，设巴萨把这一切都带了上来。All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.
被掳归回者的名单
（尼7．6－73）
这些是从被掳之地上来的省民，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒把他们掳到巴比伦，他们重返耶路撒冷和犹大，各归本城。
Now these are the children of the province that went up out of the captivity, of those which had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away unto Babylon, and came again unto Jerusalem and Judah, every one unto his city;
2他们是同所罗巴伯、耶书亚、尼希米、西莱雅、利来雅、末底改、必珊、米斯拔、比革瓦伊、利宏、巴拿一起回来的。以色列百姓的人数如下：
Which came with Zerubbabel: Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mizpar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:
3巴录的子孙二千一百七十二名；The children of Parosh, two thousand an hundred seventy and two.
4示法提雅的子孙三百七十二名；The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy and two.
5亚拉的子孙七百七十五名；The children of Arah, seven hundred seventy and five.
6巴哈．摩押的后裔，就是耶书亚和约押的子孙二千八百一十二名；The children of Pahathmoab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand eight hundred and twelve.
7以拦的子孙一千二百五十四名；The children of Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.
8萨土的子孙九百四十五名；The children of Zattu, nine hundred forty and five.
9萨改的子孙七百六十名；The children of Zaccai, seven hundred and threescore.
10巴尼的子孙六百四十二名；The children of Bani, six hundred forty and two.
11比拜的子孙六百二十三名；The children of Bebai, six hundred twenty and three.
12押甲的子孙一千二百二十二名；The children of Azgad, a thousand two hundred twenty and two.
13亚多尼干的子孙六百六十六名；The children of Adonikam, six hundred sixty and six.
14比革瓦伊的子孙二千零五十六名；The children of Bigvai, two thousand fifty and six.
15亚丁的子孙四百五十四名；The children of Adin, four hundred fifty and four.
16亚特的后裔，就是希西家的子孙九十八名；The children of Ater of Hezekiah, ninety and eight.
17比赛的子孙三百二十三名；The children of Bezai, three hundred twenty and three.
18约拉的子孙一百一十二名；The children of Jorah, an hundred and twelve.
19哈顺的子孙二百二十三名；The children of Hashum, two hundred twenty and three.
20吉罢珥人九十五名；The children of Gibbar, ninety and five.
21伯利恒人一百二十三名；The children of Bethlehem, an hundred twenty and three.
22尼陀法人五十六名；The men of Netophah, fifty and six.
23亚拿突人一百二十八名；The men of Anathoth, an hundred twenty and eight.
24亚斯玛弗人四十二名；The children of Azmaveth, forty and two.
25基列．耶琳人、基非拉人、比录人共七百四十三名；The children of Kirjatharim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, seven hundred and forty and three.
26拉玛人和迦巴人共六百二十一名；The children of Ramah and Gaba, six hundred twenty and one.
27默玛人一百二十二名；The men of Michmas, an hundred twenty and two.
28伯特利人和艾人共二百二十三名；The men of Bethel and Ai, two hundred twenty and three.
29尼波人五十二名；The children of Nebo, fifty and two.
30末必人一百五十六名；The children of Magbish, an hundred fifty and six.
31另一个以拦的子孙一千二百五十四名；The children of the other Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.
32哈琳的子孙三百二十名；The children of Harim, three hundred and twenty.
33罗德人、哈第人、阿挪人共七百二十五名；The children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, seven hundred twenty and five.
34耶利哥人三百四十五名；The children of Jericho, three hundred forty and five.
35西拿人三千六百三十名。The children of Senaah, three thousand and six hundred and thirty.
36祭司：耶书亚家耶大雅的子孙九百七十三名；The priests: the children of Jedaiah, of the house of Jeshua, nine hundred seventy and three.
37音麦的子孙一千零五十二名；The children of Immer, a thousand fifty and two.
38巴施户珥的子孙一千二百四十七名；The children of Pashur, a thousand two hundred forty and seven.
39哈琳的子孙一千零一十七名。The children of Harim, a thousand and seventeen.
40利未人：何达威雅的后裔，就是耶书亚和甲篾的子孙七十四名。The Levites: the children of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the children of Hodaviah, seventy and four.
41歌唱的：亚萨的子孙一百二十八名。The singers: the children of Asaph, an hundred twenty and eight.
42门口的守卫：沙龙的子孙、亚特的子孙、达们的子孙、亚谷的子孙、哈底大的子孙、朔拜的子孙，共一百三十九名。The children of the porters: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, in all an hundred thirty and nine.
43殿役：西哈的子孙、哈苏巴的子孙、答巴俄的子孙、The Nethinims: the children of Ziha, the children of Hasupha, the children of Tabbaoth,
44基绿的子孙、西亚的子孙、巴顿的子孙、The children of Keros, the children of Siaha, the children of Padon,
45利巴拿的子孙、哈迦巴的子孙、亚谷的子孙、The children of Lebanah, the children of Hagabah, the children of Akkub,
46哈甲的子孙、萨买的子孙、哈难的子孙、The children of Hagab, the children of Shalmai, the children of Hanan,
47吉德的子孙、迦哈的子孙、利亚雅的子孙、The children of Giddel, the children of Gahar, the children of Reaiah,
48利汛的子孙、尼哥大的子孙、迦散的子孙、The children of Rezin, the children of Nekoda, the children of Gazzam,
49乌撒的子孙、巴西亚的子孙、比赛的子孙、The children of Uzza, the children of Paseah, the children of Besai,
50押拿的子孙、米乌宁的子孙、尼普心的子孙、The children of Asnah, the children of Mehunim, the children of Nephusim,
51巴卜的子孙、哈古巴的子孙、哈忽的子孙、The children of Bakbuk, the children of Hakupha, the children of Harhur,
52巴洗律的子孙、米希大的子孙、哈沙的子孙、The children of Bazluth, the children of Mehida, the children of Harsha,
53巴柯的子孙、西西拉的子孙、答玛的子孙、The children of Barkos, the children of Sisera, the children of Thamah,
54尼细亚的子孙、哈提法的子孙。The children of Neziah, the children of Hatipha.
55所罗门仆人的后裔：琐太的子孙、琐斐列的子孙、比路大的子孙、The children of Solomon's servants: the children of Sotai, the children of Sophereth, the children of Peruda,
56雅拉的子孙、达昆的子孙、吉德的子孙、The children of Jaalah, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel,
57示法提雅的子孙、哈替的子孙、玻黑列．哈斯巴音的子孙、亚米的子孙。The children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth of Zebaim, the children of Ami.
58殿役和所罗门仆人的后裔共三百九十二名。All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants, were three hundred ninety and two.
59从特．米拉、特．哈萨、基绿、亚顿、音麦上来，不能证明他们的父系家族和后裔是否属以色列的如下：And these were they which went up from Telmelah, Telharsa, Cherub, Addan, and Immer: but they could not shew their father's house, and their seed, whether they were of Israel:
60第莱雅的子孙、多比雅的子孙、尼哥大的子孙，共六百五十二名。The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred fifty and two.
61祭司中，哈巴雅的子孙、哈哥斯的子孙、巴西莱的子孙，巴西莱因为娶了基列人巴西莱的女儿为妻，所以就以此为名。And of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai; which took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name:
62这些人在族谱之中寻查自己的谱系，却寻不着，因此算为不洁，不得作祭司。These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
63省长对他们说，不可吃至圣的物，直到有会用乌陵和土明的祭司兴起来。And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.
64全会众共有四万二千三百六十名。The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,
65此外，还有他们的仆婢七千三百三十七名，又有歌唱的男女二百名。Beside their servants and their maids, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and there were among them two hundred singing men and singing women.
66他们有七百三十六匹马，二百四十五匹骡子，Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;
67四百三十五匹骆驼，六千七百二十匹驴。Their camels, four hundred thirty and five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68有些族长到了耶路撒冷耶和华的殿，为神的殿甘心献上礼物，要在原有的根基上重新建造。And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the LORD which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place:
69他们量力捐入工程的库房，有六万一千达利克☛“达利克”：古波斯金币；参“度量衡表”；8．27同。金子，五千弥那银子，以及一百件祭司的礼服。They gave after their ability unto the treasure of the work threescore and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests' garments.
70于是祭司、利未人、百姓中的一些人、歌唱的、门口的守卫、殿役，各住在自己的城里；以色列众人都住在自己的城里。So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
恢复敬拜神的生活
到了七月，以色列人住在自己的城里；那时他们如同一人，聚集在耶路撒冷。
And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.
2约萨达的儿子耶书亚和他的弟兄众祭司，以及撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和他的弟兄，都起来建筑以色列神的坛，要照神人摩西律法书上所写的，在坛上献燔祭。Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.
3他们在原有的根基上筑坛，因为他们惧怕邻邦民族，又在其上向耶和华早晚献燔祭，And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.
4并照律法书上所写的守住棚节，按数照例每日献所当献的燔祭。They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;
5此后，他们献常献的燔祭，并在初一和耶和华一切分别为圣的节期献祭，又向耶和华献各人的甘心祭。And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the LORD.
6从七月初一起，虽然耶和华殿的根基尚未立定，他们开始向耶和华献燔祭。From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.
7他们把银子给石匠、木匠，把粮食、酒、油给西顿人、推罗人，好将香柏树从黎巴嫩浮海运到约帕，是照波斯王居鲁士所允准他们的。重建圣殿
They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.
8他们到了耶路撒冷神殿的第二年，二月的时候，撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯，约萨达的儿子耶书亚和其余的弟兄，就是祭司和利未人，以及所有被掳归回耶路撒冷的人，就开工建造；他们派二十岁以上的利未人，监督建造耶和华殿的工作。Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.
9于是何达威雅☛“何达威雅”：原文是“犹大”；参2．40。的后裔，就是耶书亚和他的子孙与弟兄、甲篾和他的子孙，他们和利未人希拿达的子孙与弟兄，都起来如同一人，监督那些在神殿里做工的人。Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.
10工匠立耶和华殿根基的时候，祭司穿礼服吹号，利未人亚萨的子孙敲钹，都照以色列王大卫亲手所定的，站着赞美耶和华。And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.
11他们彼此唱和，赞美称谢耶和华： “他本为善， 他向以色列永施慈爱。”他们赞美耶和华的时候，众百姓大声呼喊，因为耶和华殿的根基已经立定。And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.
12然而有许多祭司、利未人和族长，就是见过先前那殿的老年人，现在亲眼看见这殿立了根基，就大声哭号，也有许多人大声欢呼，But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
13百姓不能分辨欢呼的声音或哭号的声音，因为百姓大声呼喊，声音连远处都可听到。So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.
建殿之工受阻
犹大和便雅悯的敌人听说被掳归回的人为耶和华－以色列的神建造殿宇，
Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;
2就去见所罗巴伯和族长，对他们说：“请让我们与你们一同建造，因为我们也与你们一样寻求你们的神。自从亚述王以撒．哈顿带我们上这地的日子以来，我们常向神献祭。”Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
3但所罗巴伯、耶书亚和其余以色列的族长对他们说：“我们建造神的殿与你们无关，因为我们要照波斯王居鲁士所吩咐的，自己为耶和华－以色列的神协力建造。”But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
4那地的人就在犹大百姓建造的时候，使他们的手发软，扰乱他们。Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
5从波斯王居鲁士年间，直到波斯王大流士在位的时候，那些人贿赂谋士，要破坏他们的计划。阻挠重建耶路撒冷
And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
6亚哈随鲁在位，他的国度刚开始的时候，他们上书控告犹大和耶路撒冷的居民。And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
7亚达薛西年间，比施兰、米特利达、他别和他们☛“他们”：原文是“他”。的同僚上书奏告波斯王亚达薛西。奏文是用亚兰文写的，以亚兰文呈上。And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.
8利宏省长、伸帅书记也上奏亚达薛西王，控告耶路撒冷☛从 4．8－6．18，以及7．12－26，原文是亚兰文。如下Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:
9（那时，利宏省长、伸帅书记和他们其余的同僚，法官、官员、军官、波斯官员☛“法官、官员、军官、波斯官员”：原文音译“底拿人、亚法萨提迦人、他毗拉人、亚法撒人”。、亚基卫人、巴比伦人，和书珊迦人，就是以拦人☛“就是以拦人”：原文另译“底亥人、以拦人”。，Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites,
10以及被亚斯那巴大人迁移、安置在撒玛利亚城和大河西边一带地方其余的人。现在 ，And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnapper brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.
11这是他们上奏亚达薛西王奏文的抄本）：“河西的臣仆上奏亚达薛西王，现在This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time.
12请王知道，从王那里上到我们这里的犹太人，已经抵达耶路撒冷。他们正在重建这反叛恶劣的城，已经完成了城墙，正要修复根基。Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.
13如今请王知道，这城若再建造，城墙完工，他们就不再进贡、纳粮、缴税，王的国库必受亏损。Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.
14如今，我们吃的盐既然全是宫廷的盐，就不忍见王吃亏，因此奏告于王，Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;
15请王考察先王史籍，必会在史籍上查知这城是反叛的城，对列王和各省有害；自古以来，城中常有悖逆的事，因此这城曾被拆毁。That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.
16我们谨奏王知，这城若再建造，城墙完工，河西之地王就无份了。”We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.
17那时王谕覆利宏省长、伸帅书记和他们其余的同僚，就是住撒玛利亚和河西一带地方的人，说：“愿你们平安。现在Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.
18你们所呈给我们的奏本，已经清楚地在我面前读了。The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.
19我已下令考查，得知这城自古以来果然背叛列王，其中常有反叛悖逆的事。And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.
20也曾有强大的君王治理耶路撒冷，统管河西全地，人就给他们进贡、纳粮、缴税。There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.
21现在你们要下令叫这些人停工，使这城不得建造，等到我再降旨。Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.
22你们当谨慎办这事，不可迟延，何必让损害加重，使王受亏损呢？”Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
23亚达薛西王上谕的抄本在利宏和伸帅书记，以及他们的同僚面前宣读，他们就急忙往耶路撒冷去见犹太人，用势力和强权叫他们停工。恢复重建圣殿工作
Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
24于是，在耶路撒冷神殿的工程就停止了，直停到波斯王大流士第二年。Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
那时，哈该先知和易多的孙子撒迦利亚，两个先知奉以色列神的名向犹大和耶路撒冷的犹太人说预言。
Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.
2于是撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和约萨达的儿子耶书亚起来，开始建造耶路撒冷神的殿，有神的先知在那里帮助他们。Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.

5但神的眼目看顾犹太人的长老，以致没有人叫他们停工，直到奏文上告大流士，得着他对这事的回谕。But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.
6这是河西的达乃总督和示他．波斯乃，以及他们的同僚，就是住河西的官员☛“官员”：原文音译“亚法萨迦人”；6．6同。，上书奏告大流士王的抄本，The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shetharboznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:
7他们上书给王的奏文，其中写着：“愿大流士王诸事平安。They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace.
8请王知道，我们往犹大省去，到了至大神的殿。这殿是用凿成的石头建造的，梁木插入墙内。这项工程进行迅速，在他们手中顺利。Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.
9于是我们问那些长老，对他们这样说：‘谁降旨让你们建造这殿，完成这建筑呢？’Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?
10我们又问他们的名字，要记下他们领袖的名字，奏告于王。We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.
11他们这样回答我们说：‘我们是天和地之神的仆人，重建多年前所建造的殿，就是以色列一位伟大的君王建造完成的。And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.
12但因我们祖先惹天上的神发怒，神把他们交在迦勒底人巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒的手中，他就拆毁这殿，又把百姓掳到巴比伦。But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.
13然而巴比伦王居鲁士元年，他降旨允准建造神的这殿。But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.
14神殿中的金银器皿，就是尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷殿中掠取带到巴比伦庙里的，居鲁士王从巴比伦庙里取出来，交给派为省长，名叫设巴萨的，And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;
15对他说：可以将这些器皿带去，放在耶路撒冷的殿中，在原处建造神的殿。And said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be builded in his place.
16于是那位设巴萨来建立耶路撒冷神殿的根基。但从那时直到如今，这殿尚未修建完毕。’Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished.
17现在，王若以为好，请查阅巴比伦王的档案库，看居鲁士王有没有降旨允准在耶路撒冷建造神的殿。请降旨指示我们王对这件事的心意。”Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.

Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.
2在玛代省亚马他城的宫内寻得一卷，其中这样写着，“记录如下：And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:
3居鲁士王元年，王降旨论到在耶路撒冷神的殿，要建造这殿作为献祭之处，坚固它的根基。殿高六十肘，宽六十肘，In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;
4要用三层凿成的石头，一层木头☛“一层木头”：有古卷是“一层新木头”。，经费可出于王的库房。With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king's house:
5至于神殿的金银器皿，就是尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷的殿中掠取带到巴比伦的，必须归还，带回耶路撒冷的殿中，各按原处放在神的殿里。”大流士王下令继续建殿
And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.
6“现在，河西的达乃总督和示他．波斯乃，以及他们的同僚，就是住河西的官员，你们当远离那里。Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shetharboznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far from thence:
7不要拦阻这神殿的工作，任由犹太人的省长和长老在原处建造神的这殿。Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.
8我又降旨，吩咐你们为建造神的殿当向犹太人的长老这样行：从王的财产中，由河西所缴纳的贡银，迅速支付这些人，免得工程停顿。Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.
9他们向天上的神献燔祭所需用的公牛犊、公绵羊、小绵羊，以及麦子、盐、酒、油，都要照耶路撒冷祭司的话，每日供给他们，不得有误；And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:
10好叫他们献馨香的祭给天上的神，又为王和王众子的寿命祈祷。That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.
11我再降旨，无论谁更改这命令，必从他房屋中拆出一根梁木，把他举起，悬在其上，又使他的房屋为此成为粪堆。Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.
12任何王或百姓若伸手更改这命令，拆毁在耶路撒冷神的这殿，愿那立他名在那里的神将他们灭绝。我大流士降这谕旨，你们要速速遵行。”圣殿奉献礼
And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.

14犹太人的长老因哈该先知和易多的孙子撒迦利亚的预言，就建造这殿，凡事顺利。他们遵照以色列神的命令和波斯王居鲁士、大流士、亚达薛西的谕旨，建造完毕。And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.
15大流士王第六年，亚达月初三，这殿完工了。And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.
16以色列人、祭司和利未人，以及其余被掳归回的人都欢欢喜喜地为神的这殿行奉献礼。And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy,
17他们为这神殿的奉献礼献了一百头公牛、二百只公绵羊、四百只小绵羊，又照以色列支派的数目献十二只公山羊，作以色列众人的赎罪祭。And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.
18他们派祭司按着班次，利未人也按着班次在耶路撒冷事奉神，正如摩西律法书上所写的。守逾越节
And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.
19正月十四日，被掳归回的人守逾越节。And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month.
20祭司和利未人一同自洁，他们全都洁净了。利未人为被掳归回的众人和他们的弟兄众祭司，并为自己宰逾越节的羔羊。For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.
21从被掳之地归回的以色列人，并所有归附他们、除掉这地外邦人的污秽、寻求耶和华－以色列神的人，都吃这羔羊。And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat,
22他们欢欢喜喜地守除酵节七日，因为耶和华使他们欢喜。耶和华又使亚述王的心转向他们，坚固他们的手，去做神－以色列神殿的工。And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
以斯拉到达耶路撒冷

Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

6这以斯拉从巴比伦上来，他是一个文士，精通耶和华－以色列神所赐摩西的律法。王允准他一切所求的，因为耶和华－他神的手帮助他。This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.
7亚达薛西王第七年，有些以色列人、一些祭司、利未人、歌唱的、门口的守卫、殿役，上耶路撒冷去。And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
8王第七年五月，以斯拉到了耶路撒冷。And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.
9正月初一，他从巴比伦起程，五月初一就到了耶路撒冷，因为他神施恩的手帮助他。For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.
10以斯拉立志考究遵行耶和华的律法，又将律例典章教导以色列人。亚达薛西王给以斯拉的文件
For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.
11亚达薛西王赐给精通耶和华诫命和以色列律例的文士以斯拉祭司的谕旨，抄本如下：Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD, and of his statutes to Israel.
12“诸王之王亚达薛西，达于精通天上之神律法的以斯拉祭司文士等等：现在Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.
13住在我国中的以色列百姓、祭司、利未人，凡愿意上耶路撒冷去的，我降旨准他们与你同去。I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.
14既然王与七个谋士派你去，照你手中神的律法视察犹大和耶路撒冷的景况；Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;
15你又带着王和谋士乐意献给住耶路撒冷、以色列神的金银，And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,
16和你在巴比伦全省所得的一切金银，以及百姓、祭司甘心献给耶路撒冷他们神殿的礼物，And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:
17那么，你就当用这银子急速买公牛、公绵羊、小绵羊，和同献的素祭、浇酒祭，献在耶路撒冷你们神殿的坛上。That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
18剩下的金银，你和你的弟兄看怎样好，就怎样用，但总要遵照你们神的旨意。And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.
19你要带着交托给你、在神殿中事奉用的器皿，到耶路撒冷神面前。The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.
20你神殿里若再有需用的经费，是你负责供应的，可以从王的宝库里支取。And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.
21“我亚达薛西王又降旨达于河西所有的司库：‘精通天上之神律法的以斯拉祭司文士无论向你们要什么，你们要速速办理，And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,
22直至一百他连得银子，一百柯珥☛“柯珥”：亚兰文音译，即希伯来固体容量单位“歌珥”；参“度量衡表”。麦子，一百罢特酒，一百罢特油，盐不限其数。Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.
23凡天上之神所吩咐的，当为天上之神的殿切实办理。何必使愤怒临到王和王众子的国呢？Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?
24我再吩咐你们：至于任何祭司、利未人、歌唱的、门口的守卫和殿役，以及在神的这殿事奉的人，不可要求他们进贡，纳粮，缴税。’Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.
25“你，以斯拉啊，要照着你神赐你的智慧，指派所有明白你神律法的人作官长、审判官，治理河西所有的百姓，教导不明白神律法的人。And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.
26凡不遵行你神律法和王命令的人，当速速定他的罪，或处死，或充军，或抄家，或囚禁。”以斯拉称颂耶和华
And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
27以斯拉说：“耶和华－我们列祖的神是应当称颂的！因他使王起这心愿，使耶路撒冷耶和华的殿得荣耀，Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:
28他又在王和谋士，以及王所有大能的军官面前施恩于我。我因耶和华－我神的手的帮助，得以坚强，从以色列中召集领袖，与我一同上来。”And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.

Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.

Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.

So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
24我分派十二位祭司长，就是示利比、哈沙比雅和与他们一起的兄弟十人，Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,
25把王和谋士、军官，并在那里的以色列众人为我们神殿所献的金银和器皿，都秤了交给他们。And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:

27二十个金碗，值一千达利克，上等光亮的铜器皿两个，珍贵如金。Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.
28我对他们说：“你们归耶和华为圣，器皿也归为圣；金银是甘心献给耶和华－你们列祖之神的。And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.
29你们要警醒看守，直到你们在祭司长和利未族长，以及以色列的各族长面前，在耶路撒冷耶和华殿的库房内，把这些过了秤。”Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.
30于是，祭司和利未人把秤过的金银和器皿接过来，要带到耶路撒冷我们神的殿里。返回耶路撒冷
So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.
31正月十二日，我们从亚哈瓦河边起行，要往耶路撒冷去。我们神的手保佑我们，救我们脱离仇敌和路上埋伏之人的手。Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
32我们到了耶路撒冷，在那里住了三日。And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.
33第四日，金银和器皿都在我们神的殿里过了秤，交在乌利亚的儿子米利末祭司的手中。同着他的有非尼哈的儿子以利亚撒，还有利未人耶书亚的儿子约撒拔和宾内的儿子挪亚底。Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;
34那时，这一切都点过秤过了，重量全写在册上。By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.
35从被掳之地归回的人向以色列的神献燔祭，为以色列众人献十二头公牛、九十六只公绵羊、七十七只小绵羊，又献十二只公山羊作赎罪祭，这些全都是献给耶和华的燔祭。Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.
36被掳归回的人把王的谕旨交给王的总督与河西的省长，他们就支助百姓和神的殿。And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
谴责跟异族通婚
这些事完成以后，众领袖来接近我，说：“以色列百姓、祭司和利未人没有弃绝迦南人、赫人、比利洗人、耶布斯人、亚扪人、摩押人、埃及人和亚摩利人等列邦民族所行可憎的事。
Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
2因他们为自己和儿子娶了这些外邦女子，以致圣洁的种子和列邦民族混杂，而且领袖和官长在这事上是罪魁。”For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.
3我一听见这事，就撕裂衣服和外袍，拔了头发和胡须，惊惶地坐着。And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.
4凡为以色列神言语战兢的人，都因被掳归回之人所犯的罪，聚集到我这里来。我惊惶地坐着，直到献晚祭的时候。Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.
5献晚祭的时候我从愁烦中起来，穿着撕裂的衣服和外袍，双膝跪下，向耶和华－我的神举手，And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God,
6说：“我的神啊，我抱愧蒙羞，不敢向你－我的神仰面，因为我们的罪孽多到灭顶，我们的罪恶滔天。
And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.
7从我们祖先的日子直到今日，我们的罪恶深重；因我们的罪孽，我们和君王、祭司都交在邻国诸王的手中，被杀害，掳掠，抢夺，脸上蒙羞，正如今日的景况。Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
8现在耶和华－我们的神暂且向我们施恩，为我们留下一些残存之民，使我们如钉子钉在他的圣所，好让我们的神光照我们的眼目，使我们在受辖制之中稍微复兴。And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
9我们是奴仆，然而在受辖制之中，我们的神没有丢弃我们，在波斯诸王面前向我们施恩，叫我们复兴，能重建我们神的殿，修补毁坏之处，使我们在犹大和耶路撒冷有城墙。For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
10“我们的神啊，既然如此，现在我们还有什么话可说呢？因为我们离弃了你的诫命，And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,
11就是你藉你仆人众先知所吩咐的，说：‘你们要去得为业之地是污秽之地，因列邦民族的污秽和可憎的事，叫这地从这边到那边都充满了污秽。Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.
12现在，不可把你们的女儿嫁给他们的儿子，也不可为你们的儿子娶他们的女儿，永不可求他们的平安和他们的利益，这样你们就可以强盛，吃这地的美物，并把这地留给你们的子孙永远为业。’Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.
13我们因自己的恶行和大罪，遭遇这一切的事，但你－我们的神惩罚我们轻于我们罪所当得的，又为我们留下这些残存之民。And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;
14我们岂可再违背你的诫命，与行这些可憎之事的民族结亲呢？若我们这样行，你岂不向我们发怒，将我们灭绝，以致没有一个余民或残存之民吗？Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?
15耶和华－以色列的神啊，你是公义的，我们才能剩下这些残存之民，正如今日的景况。看哪，我们在你面前有罪恶，因此无人能在你面前站立得住。”O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.
终止与异族通婚的措施
以斯拉祷告，认罪，哭泣，俯伏在神殿前的时候，有以色列中的男女和孩童聚集到以斯拉那里，成了一个盛大的会，百姓无不痛哭。
Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.
2以拦的子孙，耶歇的儿子示迦尼对以斯拉说：“我们娶了这地的外邦女子，干犯了我们的神，然而现在以色列人在这事上还有指望。And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.
3现在，我们要与我们的神立约，送走所有的妻子和她们所生的，照着主和那些因我们神诫命战兢之人所议定的，按律法去行。Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
4起来，这是你当办的事，我们必支持你，你当奋勇而行。”Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.
5以斯拉就起来，叫祭司长和利未人，以及以色列众人起誓，要照这话去做；他们就起了誓。Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.
6以斯拉从神殿前起来，进入以利亚实的儿子约哈难的屋里，到了那里不吃饭，也不喝水，为被掳归回之人所犯的罪悲伤。Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.
7他们通告犹大和耶路撒冷，叫所有被掳归回的人聚集在耶路撒冷。And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
8凡不遵照领袖和长老所议定，三日之内不来的，就必毁坏他所有的财产，把他从被掳归回之人的会中开除。And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.
9于是，犹大和便雅悯众人三日之内都聚集在耶路撒冷。那时是九月，那月的二十日，众百姓坐在神殿前的广场，因这事，又因下大雨，就都战抖。Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.
10以斯拉祭司站起来，对他们说：“你们有罪了，因为你们娶了外邦女子，增添以色列的罪恶。And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.
11现在当向耶和华－你们列祖的神认罪，遵行他的旨意，离开这地的百姓和外邦女子。”Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.
12全会众大声回答说：“好！我们必照着你的话去做。Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.
13只是百姓众多，又逢大雨的季节，我们没有气力站在外面；这也不是一两天可以办完的事，因我们在这事上犯了大罪。But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.
14让我们的领袖代表全会众留在那里。我们城镇中凡娶外邦女子的，当按所定的日期，会同本城的长老和审判官前来，直到办完这事，神的烈怒转离我们☛“直到...转离我们”：有些古卷和七十士译本是“直到神因这事的烈怒转离我们”。。”Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.
15惟有亚撒黑的儿子约拿单，特瓦的儿子雅哈谢反对这事，并有米书兰和利未人沙比太支持他们。Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
16被掳归回的人就如此做了。以斯拉祭司按着父家指名选派一些族长☛“以斯拉...族长”是根据七十士译本的一些抄本和其他古译本；原文是“选出来的有以斯拉祭司、一些人和按着父家所有指名的族长。”。十月初一，他们一同坐下来查办这事，And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
17到正月初一，才查清所有娶外邦女子的人数。娶外邦女子的人
And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
18在祭司中查出娶外邦女子的：耶书亚的子孙中，有约萨达的儿子，和他兄弟玛西雅、以利以谢、雅立、基大利，And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
19他们承诺要送走他们的妻子。他们因有罪，就献羊群中的一只公绵羊赎罪；And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.
20音麦的子孙中，有哈拿尼、西巴第雅；And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.
21哈琳的子孙中，有玛西雅、以利雅、示玛雅、耶歇、乌西雅；And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
22巴施户珥的子孙中，有以利约乃、玛西雅、以实玛利、拿坦业、约撒拔、以利亚萨。And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
23利未人中，有约撒拔、示每、基拉雅，基拉雅就是基利他，还有毗他希雅、犹大、以利以谢。Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
24歌唱的人中有以利亚实。门口的守卫中，有沙龙、提联、乌利。Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
25以色列人巴录的子孙中，有拉米、耶西雅、玛基雅、米雅民、以利亚撒、玛基雅、比拿雅。Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
26以拦的子孙中，有玛他尼、撒迦利亚、耶歇、押底、耶列末、以利雅。And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.
27萨土的子孙中，有以利约乃、以利亚实、玛他尼、耶列末、撒拔、亚西撒。And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
28比拜的子孙中，有约哈难、哈拿尼雅、萨拜、亚勒。Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.
29巴尼的子孙中，有米书兰、玛鹿、亚大雅、雅述、示押、拉末☛“拉末”：原文另译“耶列末”。。And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.
30巴哈．摩押的子孙中，有阿底拿、基拉、比拿雅、玛西雅、玛他尼、比撒列、宾内、玛拿西。And of the sons of Pahathmoab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
31哈琳的子孙中，有以利以谢、伊示雅、玛基雅、示玛雅、西缅、And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,
32便雅悯、玛鹿、示玛利雅。Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.
33哈顺的子孙中，有玛特乃、玛达他、撒拔、以利法列、耶利买、玛拿西、示每。Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.
34巴尼的子孙中，有玛玳、暗兰、乌益、Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,
35比拿雅、比底雅、基禄、Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,
36瓦尼雅、米利末、以利亚实、Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
37玛他尼、玛特乃、雅扫、Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,
38巴尼、宾内、示每、And Bani, and Binnui, Shimei,
39示利米雅、拿单、亚大雅、And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,
40玛拿底拜、沙赛、沙赖、Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,
41亚萨利、示利米雅、示玛利雅、Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,
42沙龙、亚玛利雅、约瑟。Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.
43尼波的子孙中，有耶利、玛他提雅、撒拔、西比拿、雅玳、约珥、比拿雅。Of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, and Joel, Benaiah.
44这些人全都娶了外邦女子，其中也有生了儿女的☛“其中也有生了儿女的”：原文另译“他们就将妻子和儿女送走”。。All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.
