箴言的价值
大卫的儿子，以色列王所罗门的箴言：
The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2要使人懂得智慧和训诲， 明白通达的言语，To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3使人领受明智的训诲， 就是公义、公平和正直，To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4使愚蒙人灵巧， 使年轻人有知识，有智谋。To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5智慧人听见，增长学问， 聪明人得着智谋，A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6明白箴言和譬喻， 懂得智慧人的言词和谜语。To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7敬畏耶和华是知识的开端； 愚妄人藐视智慧和训诲。给年轻人的忠告
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8我儿啊，要听你父亲的训诲， 不可离弃你母亲的教诲；My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
9因为这要作你头上恩惠的华冠， 作你颈上的项链。For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
10我儿啊，罪人若引诱你， 你不可随从。My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11他们若说：“你与我们同去， 我们要埋伏杀人流血， 无故地潜藏，杀害无辜；If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
12我们好像阴间，把他们活活吞下， 囫囵吞下，如吞下那下到地府的人；Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13我们必得各样宝物， 将所夺来的装满房屋；We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14你来与我们同伙， 共用一个钱囊。”Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15我儿啊，不要与他们走同一道路， 禁止你的脚走他们的路径。My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16因为他们的脚奔跑行恶， 他们急速杀人流血。For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17在飞鸟眼前张设网罗， 一定会徒劳无功；Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
18同样，他们埋伏，是自流己血， 他们潜藏，是自害己命。And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
19凡靠暴力敛财的，所行之路都是如此， 这种念头必夺去自己的生命。智慧呼唤人
So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
20智慧☛“智慧”是拟人化的名词，原文是阴性；下同。在街市上呼喊， 在广场上高声呐喊，Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21在热闹街头呼叫， 在城门口，在城中，发出言语，说：She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22“你们无知的人喜爱无知， 傲慢人喜欢傲慢， 愚昧人恨恶知识， 要到几时呢？How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23你们当因我的责备回转， 我要将我的灵浇灌你们， 将我的话指示你们。Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
24因为我呼唤，你们不听， 我招手，无人理会。Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25你们忽视我一切的劝戒， 拒听我的责备。But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26你们遭难，我就发笑； 惊恐临到你们， 惊恐如狂风来临， 灾难好像暴风来到， 急难痛苦临到你们身上， 我必嗤笑。I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27那时，他们就会呼求我，我却不回答， 恳切寻求我，却寻不见。When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28因为他们恨恶知识， 选择不敬畏耶和华，Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29不听我的劝戒， 藐视我一切的责备，For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
30所以他们要自食其果， 饱胀在自己的计谋中。They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31愚蒙人背道，害死自己， 愚昧人安逸，自取灭亡。Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32惟听从我的，必安然居住， 得享宁静，不怕灾祸。”For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
智慧的赏赐
我儿啊，你若领受我的言语， 珍藏我的命令，My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2留心听智慧， 专心求聪明；So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3你若呼求明理， 扬声求聪明，Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4寻找她，如寻找银子， 搜寻她，如搜寻宝藏，If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5你就懂得敬畏耶和华， 得以认识神。Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6因为耶和华赏赐智慧， 知识和聪明都由他口而出。For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7他为正直人珍藏健全的知识， 给行为纯正的人作盾牌，He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8为要保护公正的路， 庇护虔诚人的道。He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9那时，你就明白公义、公平、 正直，和一切完善的道路。Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10因为智慧要进入你的心， 知识要使你内心欢愉。When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11智谋要庇护你， 聪明必保护你，Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12救你脱离恶人的道， 脱离言谈乖谬的人。To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13他们离弃正直的路， 行走黑暗的道，Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14喜欢作恶， 喜爱恶人的错谬。Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15他们的路歪曲， 他们偏离中道。Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
16智慧要救你远离陌生女子， 远离那油嘴滑舌的外邦女子。To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
17她离弃年轻时的配偶， 忘了自己神圣的盟约。Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18她的家陷入死亡， 她的路偏向阴魂。For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19凡到她那里去的，不得回转， 也得不到生命的路。None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
20智慧使你行善人的道， 守义人的路。That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21正直人必在地上居住， 完全人必在其上存留；For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22惟恶人要从地上剪除， 奸诈人要被拔出。But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
给年轻人的忠告
我儿啊，不要忘记我的教诲， 你的心要谨守我的命令，My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2因为它们☛“它们”指“教诲”和“命令”。必加给你长久的日子， 生命的年数与平安。For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3不可使慈爱和诚信离开你， 要系在你颈项上，刻在你心版上。Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4这样，你必在神和世人眼前 蒙恩惠，有美好的见识。So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5你要专心仰赖耶和华， 不可倚靠自己的聪明，Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6在你一切所行的路上都要认定他， 他必使你的道路平直。In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7不要自以为有智慧； 要敬畏耶和华，远离恶事。Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8这便医治你的肉体☛“肉体”：原文是“肚脐”。， 滋润你的百骨。It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9你要以财物 和一切初熟的土产尊崇耶和华，Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10这样，你的仓库必充满有余， 你的酒池有新酒盈溢。So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
11我儿啊，不可轻看耶和华的管教， 也不可厌烦他的责备，My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
12因为耶和华所爱的，他必责备， 正如父亲责备所喜爱的儿子。For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
13得智慧，得聪明的， 这人有福了。Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14因为智慧的获利胜过银子， 所得的盈余强如金子，For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15比宝石☛“宝石”或译“珍珠”；本卷书下同。更宝贵， 你一切所喜爱的，都不足与其比较。She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
16她的右手有长寿， 左手有富贵。Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
17她的道是安乐， 她的路全是平安。Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18她给持守她的人作生命树， 谨守她的必定蒙福。She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
19耶和华以智慧奠立地基， 以聪明铺设诸天，The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
20以知识使深渊裂开， 使天空滴下甘露。By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
21我儿啊，要谨守健全的知识和智谋， 不可使它们偏离你的眼目。My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22这样，它们必使你的生命有活力， 又作你颈项的美饰。So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23那时，你就坦然行路， 不致跌倒。Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
24你躺下，必不惧怕； 你躺卧，睡得香甜。When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25忽然来的惊恐，你不要害怕； 恶人遭毁灭，也不要恐惧，Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
26因为耶和华是你的倚靠， 他必保护你的脚不陷入罗网。For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
27你的手若有行善的力量， 不可推辞，要施与那应得的人。Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
28你若手头方便， 不可对邻舍说： “去吧，明天再来，我必给你。”Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
29你的邻舍既在你附近安居， 不可设计害他。Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
30人若未曾加害你， 不可无故与他相争。Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
31不可嫉妒残暴的人， 不可选择他的任何道路。Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
32因为走偏方向的人是耶和华所憎恶的； 正直人为他所亲密。For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
33耶和华诅咒恶人的家； 义人的居所他却赐福。The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
34他讥诮那爱讥诮的人； 但赐恩给谦卑的人。Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
35智慧人必承受尊荣； 愚昧人高升却是羞辱。The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
智慧的益处
孩子们，要听父亲的训诲， 留心明白道理。Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
2因我给你们好的教导， 不可离弃我的教诲。For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
3当我在父亲面前还是小孩， 是母亲独一娇儿的时候，For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
4他教导我说：“你的心要持守我的话， 遵守我的命令，你就会存活。He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
5要获得智慧，要获得聪明， 不可忘记， 也不可偏离我口中的言语。Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6不可离弃智慧，智慧就庇护你， 要爱她，她就保护你。Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7智慧为首，所以要获得智慧， 要用你一切所有的换取聪明。Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8高举智慧，她就使你升高， 拥抱智慧，她就使你尊荣。Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9她必将恩惠的华冠加在你头上， 把荣冕赐给你。”She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
10我儿啊，要听，要领受我的言语， 你就必延年益寿。Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
11我已指教你走智慧的道， 引导你行正直的路。I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
12你行走，脚步没有阻碍； 你奔跑，也不致跌倒。When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13要持定训诲，不可放松； 要谨守它，因为它是你的生命。Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
14不可行恶人的路， 不要走坏人的道；Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15要躲避，不可经过， 要转离而去。Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
16他们若不行恶，难以成眠， 不使人跌倒，就睡卧不安；For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
17因为他们以邪恶当饼吃， 以暴力当酒喝。For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
18但义人的路好像黎明的光， 越照越明，直到正午。But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19恶人的道幽暗， 自己不知因何跌倒。The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
20我儿啊，要留心听我的话， 侧耳听我的言语，My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21不可使它们偏离你的眼目， 要存记在你心中。Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22因为找到它们的，就找到生命， 得到全身的医治。For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23你要保守你心，胜过保守一切， 因为生命的泉源由心发出。Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
24要离开歪曲的口， 转离偏邪的嘴唇。Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25你的两眼要向前看， 你的双目☛“双目”：原文是“眼皮”。直视前方。Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26要修平☛“修平”或译“察验”。你脚下的路， 你一切的道就必稳固。Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27不可偏左偏右， 你的脚要离开邪恶。Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
警告勿犯淫乱
我儿啊，要留心听我的智慧， 侧耳听我的聪明，My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
2为要使你谨守智谋， 嘴唇保护知识。That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3因为陌生女子的嘴唇滴下蜂蜜， 她的口比油更滑，For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4后来却苦似茵陈， 锐利如两刃的剑。But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
5她的脚坠落死亡， 她的脚步踏入阴间，Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
6她无法找到生命的道路， 她的路变迁不定，自己却不知道。Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
7孩子们，现在要听从我， 不可离弃我口中的言语。Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8你所行的道要远离她， 不可靠近她家的门口，Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9免得将你的尊荣给别人， 将你的岁月给残忍的人；Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10免得陌生人满得你的财富， 你劳苦所得的归入外邦人的家。Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11在你人生终结，你皮肉和身体衰残时， 你必唉声叹气，And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12说：“我为何恨恶管教， 心里轻看责备呢？And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13我不听从教师的话， 也没有侧耳听那教导我的。And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
14在聚集的会众中， 我几乎坠入深渊。”I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15你要喝自己池中的水， 饮自己井里的活水。Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16你的泉源岂可溢流在外？ 你的河水岂可流到街上？Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17让它们惟独归你， 不可与陌生人同享。Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
18要使你的泉源蒙福， 要喜爱你年轻时的妻子。Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19她如可爱的母鹿，如优美的母羊， 愿她的胸怀使你时时满足， 愿你常常迷恋她的爱情。Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20我儿啊，你为何迷恋陌生女子？ 为何拥抱外邦女子的胸怀？And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21因为人所行的道都在耶和华眼前， 他察验☛“察验”或译“修平”。人一切的路。For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
22恶人被自己的罪孽抓住， 被自己罪恶的绳索缠绕。His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
23他因不受管教而死亡， 因极度愚昧而走迷。He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

我儿啊，你若为朋友担保， 替陌生人击掌，My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
2你就被口中的言语套住， 被嘴里的言语抓住。Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
3我儿啊，你既落在朋友手中，当这样行才可救自己： 你要谦卑自己，去恳求你的朋友。Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
4不要让你的眼睛睡觉， 不可容你的眼皮打盹。Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
5要救自己，如羚羊脱离猎人的手， 如鸟脱离捕鸟人的手。Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6懒惰人哪， 你去察看蚂蚁的动作，就可得智慧。Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
7蚂蚁没有领袖， 没有官长，没有君王，Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8尚且在夏天预备食物， 在收割时储存粮食。Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
9懒惰人哪，你要睡到几时呢？ 你什么时候才睡醒呢？How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10再睡片时，打盹片时， 抱着双臂躺卧片时，Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11你的贫穷就如盗贼来到， 你的贫乏仿佛拿盾牌的人来临。So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
12无赖的恶徒 行事全凭歪曲的口，A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
13他眨眼传神， 以脚示意，用指点划，He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
14存心乖谬， 常设恶谋，散播纷争。Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
15所以，灾难必突然临到他， 他必顷刻被毁，无从医治。Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
16耶和华所恨恶的有六样， 他心所憎恶的共有七样：These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17就是高傲的眼，撒谎的舌， 杀害无辜的手，A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18图谋恶计的心， 飞奔行恶的脚，An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19口吐谎言的假证人， 并在弟兄间散播纷争的人。警告勿犯淫乱
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
20我儿啊，要遵守你父亲的命令， 不可离弃你母亲的教诲。My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
21要常挂在你心上， 系在你颈项上。Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
22你行走，她必引导你， 你躺卧，她必保护你， 你睡醒，她必与你谈论。When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23因为诫命是灯，教诲是光， 管教的责备是生命的道，For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24要保护你远离邪恶的妇女， 远离外邦女子谄媚的舌头。To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25你不要因她的美色而动心， 也不要被她的眼皮勾引。Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
26因为连最后一块饼都会被妓女拿走☛“连最后一块饼都会被妓女拿走”或译“妓女的雇价只是一块饼”。； 有夫之妇会猎取宝贵的生命。For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
27人若兜火在怀中， 他的衣服岂能不烧着呢？Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28人若走在火炭上， 他的脚岂能不烫伤呢？Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
29与邻舍之妻同寝的，也是如此， 凡亲近她的，难免受罚。So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
30贼因饥饿偷窃充饥， 人不藐视他，Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
31但若被抓到，要赔偿七倍， 他必赔上家中一切财物。But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
32与妇人行奸淫的，便是无知， 做这事的，必毁了自己。But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
33他必受损伤和羞辱， 他的羞耻不得消除。A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34丈夫因嫉恨发怒， 报仇的时候绝不留情。For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
35他不接受任何赔偿， 你送许多礼物，他也不肯和解。He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2遵守我的命令就得存活， 谨守我的教诲，好像保护眼中的瞳人。Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3要系在你指头上， 刻在你心版上。Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
4对智慧说“你是我的姊妹”， 称呼聪明为亲人，Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
5她就保护你远离陌生女子， 远离油嘴滑舌的外邦女子。淫乱的妇人
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.
6我曾在我房屋的窗户内， 透过窗格子往外观看，For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
7看见在愚蒙人中， 注意到孩儿中有一个无知的青年，And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
8从街上经过，靠近她的巷口， 直往她家的路去，Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
9在黄昏，在傍晚， 在半夜，黑暗之中。In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
10看哪，有一个女子来迎接他， 是妓女的打扮，有诡诈的心思。And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.
11她喧嚷，不守约束， 她的脚在家里留不住，(She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
12有时在街市，有时在广场， 或在各巷口等候。Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
13她拉住那青年吻他， 厚着脸皮对他说：So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
14“我已献了平安祭， 今日我还了所许的愿。I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
15因此，我出来迎接你， 渴望见你的面，我总算找到你了！Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16我已在床上铺好被单， 是埃及麻织的花纹布，I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.
17又用没药、沉香、桂皮 薰了我的床。I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18你来，让我们饱享爱情，直到早晨， 让我们彼此亲爱欢乐。Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
19因为我丈夫不在家， 出门远行，For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:
20他手带钱囊， 要到月圆才回家。”He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.
21这女子用许多巧言引诱他， 用谄媚的嘴唇催逼他。With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
22青年立刻跟随她，好像牛去被宰杀， 又像愚妄人带着脚镣去受刑，He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
23直到箭穿进他的肝，如同雀鸟急投罗网， 却不知会赔上自己的生命。Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
24孩子们，现在要听从我， 要留心听我口中的言语。Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25你的心不可偏向她的道， 不要误入她的迷途。Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26因为她击倒许多人， 无数的人被她杀戮☛“无数的人被她杀戮”或译“被她杀戮的都是强壮者”。。For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
27她的家是在阴间之路， 下到死亡之宫。Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
智慧颂
智慧岂不呼唤？ 聪明岂不扬声？Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
2她站立在十字路口， 在道路旁高处的顶上，She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
3在城门旁，城门口， 入口处，她呼喊：She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.
4“人哪，我呼唤你们， 我向世人扬声。Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
5愚蒙人哪，你们要学习灵巧， 愚昧人哪，你们的心要明辨。O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
6你们当听，因我要说尊贵的事， 我要张开嘴唇讲正直的事。Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
7我的口要发出真理， 我的嘴唇憎恶邪恶。For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8我口中的言语都是公义， 并无奸诈和歪曲。All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
9聪明人看为正确， 有知识的，都以为正直。They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
10你们当领受我的训诲，胜过领受银子， 宁得知识，强如得上选的金子。Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
11“因为智慧比宝石更美， 一切可喜爱的都不足与其比较。For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
12我－智慧以灵巧为居所， 又寻得知识和智谋。I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
13敬畏耶和华就是恨恶邪恶； 我恨恶骄傲、狂妄、恶道，和乖谬的口。The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
14我有策略和健全的知识， 我聪明，又有能力。Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
15君王藉我治国， 王子藉我定公平，By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
16王公贵族，所有公义的审判官， 都藉我掌权。☛本节七十士译本是“贵族因我而尊大，君王藉着我统治土地”。By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
17爱我的，我也爱他， 恳切寻求我的，必寻见。I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
18财富和尊荣在我， 恒久的财宝和繁荣☛“繁荣”或译“公义”。也在我。Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
19我的果实胜过金子，强如纯金， 我的出产超乎上选的银子。My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
20我在公义的道上走， 在公平的路中行，I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
21使爱我的承受财产， 充满他们的库房。That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
22“耶和华在造化的起头， 在太初创造万物之先，就有☛“有”或译“造”。了我。The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23从亘古，从太初， 未有大地以前，我已被立。I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
24没有深渊， 没有大水的泉源，我已出生。When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25大山未曾奠定， 小山未有之先，我已出生。Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
26那时，他还没有创造大地和田野， 并世上头一撮尘土。While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
27他立高天，我在那里， 他在渊面的周围划出圆圈，When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
28上使穹苍坚硬， 下使渊源稳固，When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29为沧海定出范围，使水不越过界限， 奠定大地的根基。When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30那时，我在他旁边为工程师， 天天充满喜乐，时时在他面前欢笑，Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31在他的全地欢笑， 喜爱住在人世间。Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
32“孩子们，现在要听从我， 谨守我道的有福了。Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
33要听训诲，得智慧， 不可弃绝。Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
34听从我，天天在我门口守望， 在我门框旁等候的，那人有福了。Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35因为寻得我的，就寻得生命， 他必蒙耶和华的恩惠。For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
36得罪我的，害了自己的生命， 凡恨恶我的，喜爱死亡。”But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
智慧和愚蠢
智慧建造房屋， 凿成七根柱子，Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
2宰杀牲畜，调好美酒， 又摆设筵席，She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3派遣女仆出去， 自己在城中至高处呼唤：She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4“谁是愚蒙的人，让他转到这里来！” 又对那无知的人说：Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
5“你们来，吃我的饼， 喝我调的酒。Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6你们要离弃愚蒙，就得存活， 并要走明智的道路。”Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
7纠正傲慢人的，必招羞辱， 责备恶人的，必被侮辱。He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8不要责备傲慢人，免得他恨你； 要责备智慧人，他必爱你。Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9教导智慧人，他就越有智慧， 指示义人，他就增长学问。Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10敬畏耶和华是智慧的开端， 认识至圣者便是聪明。The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
11藉着我，你的日子必增多， 你生命的年数也必加添。For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
12你若有智慧，是自己有智慧； 你若傲慢，就自己承担。If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
13愚昧的女子喧嚷， 她是愚蒙，一无所知。A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14她坐在自己家门口， 在城中高处的座位上，For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15呼唤过路的， 向那些在路上直走的人说：To call passengers who go right on their ways:
16“谁是愚蒙的人，让他转到这里来！” 又对那无知的人说：Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
17“偷来的水是甜的， 暗藏的饼是美的。”Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
18人却不知有阴魂在她那里， 她召唤的人是在阴间的深处。But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
所罗门的箴言
所罗门的箴言：
智慧之子使父亲喜乐； 愚昧之子使母亲担忧。The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
2不义之财毫无益处； 惟有公义能救人脱离死亡。Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
3耶和华不使义人捱饿； 恶人所欲的，耶和华必拒绝。The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
4手懒的，必致穷乏； 手勤的，却要富足。He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5夏天储存的，是智慧之子； 收割时沉睡的，是蒙羞之子。He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
6福祉临到义人头上； 恶人的口藏匿残暴。Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
7义人的称号带来祝福； 恶人的名字必然败坏。The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
8智慧的心，领受诫命； 愚妄的嘴唇，必致倾倒。The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
9行正直路的，步步安稳； 走弯曲道的，必致败露。He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
10挤眉弄眼的，使人忧患； 愚妄的嘴唇，必致倾倒。He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
11义人的口是生命的泉源； 恶人的口藏匿残暴。The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
12恨能挑启争端； 爱能遮掩一切过错。Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
13聪明人嘴里有智慧； 无知的人背上受刑杖。In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
14智慧人积存知识； 愚妄人的口速致败坏。Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
15有钱人的财物是他坚固的城； 贫寒人的贫乏使他败坏。The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16义人的报酬带来生命； 恶人的所得用来犯罪。The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
17遵守训诲的，行在生命道上； 离弃责备的，走迷了路。He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
18隐藏怨恨的，有说谎的嘴唇； 口出毁谤的，是愚昧人。He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
19多言多语难免有过； 节制嘴唇是有智慧。In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
20义人的舌如上选的银子； 恶人的心所值无几。The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
21义人的嘴唇牧养多人； 愚妄人因无知而死亡。The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
22耶和华所赐的福使人富足， 并不加上忧虑。The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
23愚昧人以行恶为乐； 聪明人以智慧为乐。It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
24恶人所怕的，必临到他； 义人的心愿，必蒙应允。The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25暴风一过，恶人归于无有； 义人却有永久的根基。As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
26懒惰人使那差他的人， 如醋倒牙，如烟薰目。As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
27敬畏耶和华使人长寿； 恶人的年岁必减少。The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28义人的盼望带来喜乐； 恶人的指望必致灭没。The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
29耶和华的道是正直人的保障； 却成了作恶人的败坏。The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
30义人永不动摇； 恶人不得住在地上。The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
31义人的口结出智慧； 乖谬的舌必被割断。The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
32义人的嘴唇懂得令人喜悦； 恶人的口只知乖谬。The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
2骄傲来，羞耻也来； 谦逊人却有智慧。When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
3正直人的纯正必引导自己； 奸诈人的邪恶必毁灭自己。The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
4遭怒的日子钱财无益； 惟有公义能救人脱离死亡。Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
5完全人的义修平自己的路； 但恶人必因自己的恶跌倒。The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
6正直人的义必拯救自己； 奸诈人必被自己的欲望缠住。The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
7恶人一死，他的指望就灭绝； 罪人的盼望也必灭绝。When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.
8义人得脱离患难， 有恶人来代替他。The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
9不虔敬的人用口败坏邻舍； 义人却因知识得救。An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
10义人享福，全城喜乐； 恶人灭亡，人人欢呼。When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
11因正直人的祝福，城必升高； 因邪恶人的口，它必倾覆。By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
12藐视邻舍的，便是无知； 聪明人却静默不言。He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
13到处传话的，泄漏机密； 内心老实的，保守秘密。A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
14无智谋，民就败落； 谋士多，就必得胜。Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
15为陌生人担保的，必受亏损； 恨恶击掌的，却得安稳。He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
16恩慈的妇女得尊荣； 强壮的男子得财富。A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.
17仁慈的人善待自己； 残忍的人扰害己身。The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
18恶人做事，得虚幻的报酬； 撒公义种子的，得实在的报偿。The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
19真正行义的，必得生命； 追求邪恶的，必致死亡。As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.
20心中歪曲的，为耶和华所憎恶； 行为正直的，为他所喜悦。They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.
21击掌保证，恶人难免受罚； 义人的后裔必得拯救。Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
22妇女美貌而无见识， 如同金环戴在猪鼻上。As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
23义人的心愿尽是好的； 恶人的指望却带来愤怒。The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24有施舍的，钱财增添； 吝惜过度，反致穷乏。There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
25慷慨待人，必然丰裕； 滋润人的，连自己也得滋润。The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
26屯粮不卖的，百姓必诅咒他； 愿意出售的，祝福临到头上。He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
27恳切求善的，就求得恩宠； 但那求恶的，恶必临到他。He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
28倚靠财富的，自己必跌倒； 义人必兴旺如绿叶。He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
29扰害己家的，必承受虚空☛“虚空”：原文是“风”。； 愚妄人作心中有智慧者的仆人。He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30义人的果实是生命树； 智慧人必能得人。The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
31看哪，义人在地上尚且受报， 何况恶人和罪人呢？Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
2善人蒙耶和华的恩宠； 设诡计的，耶和华必定罪。A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
3人靠恶行不能坚立； 义人的根必不动摇。A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
4才德的妻子是丈夫的冠冕； 蒙羞的妇人使丈夫骨头朽烂。A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
5义人的思念是公平； 恶人的计谋是诡诈。The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
6恶人的言论埋伏流人的血； 正直人的口却拯救人。The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
7恶人倾覆，归于无有； 义人的家却屹立不倒。The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
8人按自己的智慧得称赞； 心中偏邪的，必被藐视。A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
9被人藐视，但有自己仆人☛“有自己仆人”或译“自己工作”。的， 胜过妄自尊大，却缺乏食物。He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
10义人顾惜他牲畜的命； 恶人的怜悯也是残忍。A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11耕种自己田地的，必得饱食； 追求虚浮的，却是无知。He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
12恶人想得坏人的猎物； 义人的根结出果实。The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
13嘴唇的过错是恶人的圈套； 但义人必脱离患难。The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
14人因口所结的果实，必饱得美福； 人手所做的，必归到自己身上。A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
15愚妄人所行的，在自己眼中看为正直； 惟智慧人从善如流。The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
16愚妄人的恼怒立时显露； 通达人却能忍辱。A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.
17说出真话的，显明公义； 作假见证的，显出诡诈。He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
18说话浮躁，犹如刺刀； 智慧人的舌头却能医治。There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
19诚实的嘴唇永远坚立； 说谎的舌头只存片时。The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20图谋恶事的，心存诡诈； 劝人和睦的，便得喜乐。Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
21义人不遭灾害； 恶人满受祸患。There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
22说谎的嘴唇，为耶和华所憎恶； 行事诚实，为他所喜悦。Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
23通达人隐藏知识； 愚昧人的心彰显愚昧。A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
24殷勤人的手必掌权； 懒惰的人必服苦役。The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
25人心忧虑，就必沉重； 一句良言，使心欢乐。Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
26义人引导他的邻舍☛“义人引导他的邻舍”或译“义人慎选他的朋友”，又或译“义人比他的邻舍更好”。； 恶人的道叫人迷失。The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
27懒惰的人不烤猎物； 殷勤的人却得宝贵的财物。The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
28在公义的路上有生命； 在其道上并无死亡。In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2人因口所结的果实，必享美福； 奸诈人却意图残暴。A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
3谨慎守口的，得保生命； 大张嘴唇的，必致败亡。He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4懒惰的人奢求，却无所得； 殷勤的人必然丰裕。The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5义人恨恶谎言； 恶人可憎可耻。A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6行为纯正的，有公义保护； 犯罪的，被罪恶倾覆。Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7假冒富足的，一无所有； 装作穷乏的，多有财物。There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
8财富可作人的生命赎价； 穷乏人却听不见威吓的话。The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9义人的光使人欢喜☛“使人欢喜”：原文另译“明亮”。； 恶人的灯要熄灭。The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10骄傲挑启纷争； 听劝言却有智慧。Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
11不劳而获之财☛“不劳而获之财”：七十士译本是“暴发的不义之财”。必减少； 逐渐积蓄的必增多。Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
12盼望迟延，令人心忧； 愿望实现，就是得到生命树。Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
13藐视训言的，自取灭亡； 敬畏诫命的，必得善报。Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14智慧人的教诲是生命的泉源， 使人避开死亡的圈套。The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
15美好的见识使人得宠； 奸诈人的道路恒久奸诈☛“恒久奸诈”：原文是“恒久”。。Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
16通达人都凭知识行事； 愚昧人张扬自己的愚昧。Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.
17邪恶的使者必陷入祸患； 忠信的使臣带来医治。A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
18弃绝管教的，必贫穷受辱； 领受责备的，必享尊荣。Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
19愿望实现，心觉甘甜； 远离恶事，为愚昧人所憎恶。The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20与智慧人同行的，必得智慧； 和愚昧人作伴的，必受亏损。He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21祸患追赶罪人； 义人却得善报。Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
22善人给子孙遗留产业； 罪人积财却归义人。A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
23穷乏人开垦的地虽多产粮食， 却因不公而被夺走。Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.
24不忍用杖打儿子的，是恨恶他； 疼爱儿子的，勤加管教。He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25义人吃喝食欲满足； 恶人肚腹却是缺乏。The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
2行事正直的，敬畏耶和华； 偏离正路的，却藐视他。He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3在愚妄人的口中有骄傲的杖； 智慧人的嘴唇必保护自己。In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4没有牛，槽就空空； 土产丰盛却凭牛的力气。Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5诚实的证人不说谎； 虚假的证人口吐谎言。A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
6傲慢人枉寻智慧； 聪明人易得知识。A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
7不要到愚昧人面前， 你无法从他嘴唇里知道知识。Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
8通达人的智慧使他认清自己的道路； 愚昧人的愚昧却是自欺。The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
9愚妄人嘲笑赎愆祭☛“赎愆祭”或译“复和”。； 但正直人蒙悦纳。Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
10心中的苦楚，只有自己知道； 心里的喜乐，陌生人无法分享。The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
11恶人的房屋必倒塌； 正直人的帐棚必兴旺。The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
12有一条路，人以为正， 至终成为死亡之路。There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
13人在喜笑中，心也会忧愁； 快乐的终点就是愁苦。Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
14心中背道的，必满尝其果； 善人必从自己的行为得到回报。The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15无知的人什么话都信； 通达人谨慎自己的脚步。The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16智慧人有所惧怕，就远离恶事； 愚昧人却狂傲自恃。A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
17轻易发怒的，行事愚昧； 擅长诡计的，被人恨恶。He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18愚蒙人承受愚昧为产业； 通达人得知识为冠冕。The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19坏人在善人面前俯伏； 恶人在义人门口也是如此。The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20穷乏人，连邻舍也恨他； 有钱人，爱他的人众多。The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
21藐视邻舍的，这人有罪； 施恩给困苦人的，这人有福。He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
22谋恶的，岂非走入迷途？ 谋善的，有慈爱和诚实。Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
23任何勤劳总有收获； 仅耍嘴皮必致穷乏。In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24智慧人的冠冕是富有智慧； 愚昧人的愚昧终究是愚昧。The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
25诚实作证，救人性命； 口吐谎言是诡诈。A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
26敬畏耶和华的，大有倚靠； 他的儿女也有避难所。In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27敬畏耶和华是生命的泉源， 使人离开死亡的圈套。The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28君王的荣耀在乎民多； 没有百姓，王就衰败。In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
29不轻易发怒的，大有聪明； 性情暴躁的，大显愚昧。He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30平静的心使肉体有生气； 嫉妒使骨头朽烂。A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
31欺压贫寒人的，是蔑视造他的主； 怜悯贫穷人的，是尊敬主。He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
32恶人因所行的恶必被推倒； 义人临死☛“义人临死”：七十士译本是“义人因其完全”。，有所投靠。The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
33智慧安居在聪明人的心中， 在愚昧人的心中却不认识☛“在愚昧人...不认识”是根据七十士译本；原文是“也为愚昧人的心所知”。。Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
34公义使邦国高举； 罪恶是百姓的羞辱。Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
35君王的恩宠临到智慧的臣仆； 但其愤怒临到蒙羞的臣仆。The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
2智慧人的舌善发知识； 愚昧人的口吐出愚昧。The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
3耶和华的眼目无处不在， 恶人善人，他都鉴察。The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
4温良的舌是生命树； 邪恶的舌使人心碎。A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
5愚妄人藐视父亲的管教； 领受责备，使人精明。A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
6义人家中多有财富； 恶人获利反受扰害。In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7智慧人的嘴传扬知识； 愚昧人的心并非如此。The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
8恶人献祭，为耶和华所憎恶； 正直人祈祷，为他所喜悦。The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9恶人的道路，为耶和华所憎恶； 追求公义的，为他所喜爱。The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10背弃正路的，必受严刑； 恨恶责备的，必致死亡。Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.
11阴间和冥府☛“冥府”：原文音译“亚巴顿”，意思是“灭亡之地”。尚且在耶和华面前， 何况世人的心呢？Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?
12傲慢人不爱受责备， 也不去接近智慧人。A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.
13心中喜乐，面有喜色； 心里忧愁，灵就忧伤。A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14聪明人的心追求知识； 愚昧人的口吞吃愚昧。The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.
15困苦人的日子都是愁苦； 心中欢畅的，常享宴席。All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
16财宝稀少，敬畏耶和华， 强如财宝众多，烦乱不安。Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
17有爱，吃素菜， 强如相恨，吃肥牛。Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
18暴怒的人挑启争端； 忍怒的人止息纷争。A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19懒惰人的道像荆棘的篱笆； 正直人的路是平坦大道。The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.
20智慧之子使父亲喜乐； 愚昧的人藐视母亲。A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21无知的人以愚昧为乐； 聪明的人按正直而行。Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
22不先商议，所谋无效； 谋士众多，所谋得成。Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
23口善应对，自觉喜乐； 话合其时，何等美好。A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
24生命之道使智慧人上升， 使他远离底下的阴间。The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.
25耶和华必拆毁骄傲人的家， 却要立定寡妇的地界。The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
26恶谋为耶和华所憎恶； 良言却是纯净的。The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
27暴力敛财的，扰害己家； 恨恶贿赂的，必得存活。He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28义人的心思量应答； 恶人的口吐出恶言。The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29耶和华远离恶人， 却听义人的祈祷。The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30眼睛发光，使心喜乐； 好的信息，滋润骨头。The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.
31耳听使人得生命的责备， 必居住在智慧人之中。The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
32弃绝管教的，轻看自己的生命； 领受责备的，却得智慧的心。He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
33敬畏耶和华是智慧的训诲； 要得尊荣，先有谦卑。The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
2人一切所行的，在自己眼中看为纯洁， 惟有耶和华衡量人的内心。All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
3你所做的，要交托耶和华， 你所谋的，就必坚立。Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
4耶和华造万物各适其用， 就是恶人也为祸患的日子所造。The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5凡心里骄傲的，为耶和华所憎恶； 击掌保证，他难免受罚。Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
6因慈爱和信实，罪孽得赎； 敬畏耶和华的，远离恶事。By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
7人所行的若蒙耶和华喜悦， 耶和华也使仇敌与他和好。When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8少获利，行事公义， 强如多获利，行事不义。Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
9人心筹算自己的道路； 惟耶和华指引他的脚步。A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
10王的嘴唇有圣言， 审判之时，他的口必不差错。A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
11公道的秤和天平属耶和华， 囊中一切的法码是他所定。A just weight and balance are the LORD's: all the weights of the bag are his work.
12作恶，为王所憎恶， 因国位是靠公义坚立。It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
13公义的嘴唇，王喜悦， 说正直话的，他喜爱。Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
14王的震怒是死亡的使者， 但智慧人能平息王怒。The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
15王脸上的光使人有生命， 他的恩惠好像云带来的春雨。In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
16得智慧胜过得金子， 选聪明强如选银子。How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
17正直人的道远离恶事， 谨守己路的，保全性命。The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
18骄傲在败坏以先， 内心高傲在跌倒之前。Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19心里谦卑与困苦人来往， 强如与骄傲人同分战利品。Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20留心训言的☛“留心训言的”或译“专注事务的”。，必得福乐； 倚靠耶和华的，这人有福。He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
21心中有智慧的，必称为聪明人； 嘴唇的甜言，增长人的学问。The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
22人有智慧就有生命的泉源； 愚妄人必受愚妄的惩戒。Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
23智慧人的心使他的口谨慎， 又使他的嘴唇增长学问。The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
24良言如同蜂巢， 使心甘甜，使骨得医治。Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25有一条路，人以为正， 至终却成为死亡之路。There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
26劳力的人为自己劳力， 因为他的口腹催逼他。He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
27匪徒图谋奸恶， 嘴唇上的言语仿佛烧焦的火。An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
28乖谬的人散播纷争， 造谣的离间密友。A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
29残暴的人引诱邻舍， 领他走不好的道路。A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
30紧闭双目的，图谋乖谬； 紧咬嘴唇的，成就恶事。He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
31白发是荣耀的冠冕， 行在公义道上的，必能得着。The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
32不轻易发怒的，胜过勇士； 控制自己脾气的，强如取城。He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
33人虽可掷签在膝上， 定事却由耶和华。The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.
2明智的仆人必管辖蒙羞的儿子， 并在兄弟中同分产业。A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
3鼎为炼银，炉为炼金， 惟有耶和华熬炼人心。The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
4行恶的，留心听恶毒的嘴唇； 说谎的，侧耳听邪恶的舌头。A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
5讥笑穷乏人的，是蔑视造他的主； 幸灾乐祸的，难免受罚。Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
6子孙为老人的冠冕； 父母是儿女的荣耀。Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
7愚顽人说美言并不相宜， 君子说谎言也不合宜。Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
8贿赂在馈赠者的眼中看为玉石， 随处运转都得顺利。A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
9包容过错的，寻求友爱； 喋喋不休的，离间密友。He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
10一句责备的话深入聪明人的心， 强如打愚昧人一百下。A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.
11恶人只寻求背叛， 残忍的使者必奉差攻击他。An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
12宁可遇见失丧小熊的母熊， 也不愿遇见正行愚昧的愚昧人。Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
13以恶报善的， 祸患必不离他的家。Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
14纷争掀起，如同缺口的水； 因此，争端尚未爆发就当制止。The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
15定恶人为义的，定义人为有罪的， 都为耶和华所憎恶。He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
16愚昧人既无知， 为何手拿银钱去买智慧呢？Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?
17朋友时常亲爱， 弟兄为患难而生。A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
18在邻舍面前击掌担保的， 是无知的人。A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
19喜爱争吵的，是喜爱过犯； 门盖得高的，自取败坏。He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
20心中歪曲的，得不着福乐； 舌头颠倒是非的，陷在祸患中。He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
21生愚昧之子的，自己必愁苦； 愚顽人的父亲毫无喜乐。He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
22喜乐的心能治好疾病； 忧伤的灵使骨头枯干。A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
23恶人暗中受贿赂， 以致弯曲公正的路。A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
24聪明人面前有智慧； 愚昧人眼望地的尽头。Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
25愚昧的儿子使父亲愁烦， 使那生他的母亲忧苦。A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
26刑罚义人实为不善， 责打正直的君子也不宜。Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
27节制言语的，有见识； 性情温良的人，有聪明。He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
28愚妄人若静默不言，可算为智慧， 闭上嘴唇也可算为聪明。Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
2愚昧人不喜爱聪明， 只喜爱表达自己的心意。A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
3邪恶来，藐视跟着来； 羞耻到，辱骂同时到。When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
4人的口所讲的话如同深水， 智慧之泉如涌流的河水。The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
5偏袒恶人的情面，是不好的。 审判时使义人受屈，也是不善。It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
6愚昧人的嘴唇挑起争端， 一开口就招鞭打。A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
7愚昧人的口自取败坏， 他的嘴唇是自己生命的圈套。A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
8造谣者的话如同美食， 深入人的肚腹。The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
9做工懈怠的， 是破坏者的兄弟。He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
10耶和华的名是坚固台， 义人奔入就得安稳。The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
11有钱人的财物是他坚固的城， 在他幻想中，犹如高墙。The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
12败坏之先，人心骄傲； 要得尊荣，先有谦卑。Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
13未听完就回话的， 就是他的愚昧和羞辱。He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
14人的心灵忍耐疾病； 心灵忧伤，谁能承当呢？The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
15聪明人的心得知识； 智慧人的耳求知识。The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
16人的礼物为他开路， 引他到高位的人面前。A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
17先诉情由的，似乎有理； 另一人来到，就察出实情。He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
18掣签能止息纷争， 也能化解双方激烈的争辩。The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
19被冒犯的弟兄☛“被冒犯的弟兄”：七十士译本是“弟兄互助”。强如难以攻下的坚城； 纷争如同城堡的门闩。A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
20人的肚腹必因口所结的果实饱足； 他必因嘴唇所出的感到满足。A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21生死在舌头的掌握之下， 喜爱弄舌的，必吃它所结的果实。Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
22得着妻子的，得着好处， 他是蒙了耶和华的恩惠。Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
23穷乏人说哀求的话； 有钱人却用威吓的话回答。The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
24朋友太多的人，必受损害☛“朋友...损害”或译“有些朋友是玩弄友谊的”。； 但有一知己比兄弟更亲密。A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2热心而无见识，实为不善； 脚步急快的，易入歧途。Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
3人因愚昧自毁前途， 他的心却埋怨耶和华。The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
4财富使朋友增多； 贫寒人连仅有的朋友也离弃他。Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5作假见证的，难免受罚； 口吐谎言的，不能逃脱。A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
6有权贵的，许多人求他赏脸； 爱送礼的，人都作他的朋友。Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
7穷乏人连兄弟都恨他， 何况朋友，更是远离他！ 他用言语追随，他们却不在。All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
8得着智慧的，爱惜生命； 持守聪明的，寻得好处。He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9作假见证的，难免受罚； 口吐谎言的，必定灭亡。A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
10愚昧人奢华度日并不相宜， 仆人管辖王子，也不应该。Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11人有见识就不轻易发怒， 宽恕人的过失便是自己的荣耀。The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12王的愤怒好像狮子吼叫； 他的恩惠却如草上的甘露。The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13愚昧的儿子是父亲的祸患， 妻子的争吵如雨连连滴漏。A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14房屋钱财是祖宗所遗留的； 惟有贤慧的妻是耶和华所赐的。House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
15懒惰使人沉睡， 懈怠的人必捱饿。Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16遵守诫命的，保全生命； 轻忽己路的，必致死亡。He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
17怜悯贫寒人的，就是借给耶和华， 他的报偿，耶和华必归还他。He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
18趁还有指望，管教你的儿子， 不可执意摧毁他。Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
19暴怒的人必受惩罚， 你若救他，必须再救。A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
20要听劝言，接受训诲， 使你终久有智慧。Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21人心多有计谋； 惟有耶和华的筹算才能成就。There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
22仁慈的人令人喜爱☛“仁慈...喜爱”或译“贪心是人的羞耻”。， 穷乏人强如说谎言的。The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
23敬畏耶和华的，得着生命， 他必饱足安居，不遭祸患。The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24懒惰人把手埋入盘里， 连缩回送进口中也不肯。A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25责打傲慢人，能使无知的人变精明； 责备聪明人，他就明白知识。Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
26虐待父亲、驱逐母亲的， 是蒙羞致辱之子。He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
27我儿啊，停止听 那叫你偏离知识言语的教导☛“停止...教导”或译“不可听了教导而又偏离知识的言语”；又或译“不可偏离知识的言语，要听教导”。。Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
28卑劣的见证嘲笑公平， 恶人的口吞下罪孽。An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29刑罚是为傲慢人预备的， 鞭打则是为愚昧人的背预备的。Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
2王的威吓如狮子吼叫， 激怒他的是自害己命。The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.
3止息纷争是人的尊荣， 愚妄人争闹不休。It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
4懒惰人因冬寒不去耕种， 到收割时，他去寻找，一无所得。The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5人心中的筹算如同深水， 惟聪明人才能汲引出来。Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6很多人声称自己忠信， 但诚信的人谁能遇着呢？Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
7义人行为纯正， 他后代的子孙有福了！The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
8王坐在审判的位上， 以眼目驱散一切邪恶。A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
9谁能说：“我已经洁净了我的心， 脱净了我的罪？”Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
10两样的法码和两样的伊法☛“伊法”是量固体的量器或单位；参“度量衡表”。， 都为耶和华所憎恶。Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.
11孩童的行动或纯洁，或正直， 都以行为显明自己。Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
12能听的耳，能看的眼， 二者都为耶和华所造。The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
13不要贪睡，免致贫穷； 眼要睁开，就可吃饱。Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
14买东西的说：“不好，不好！” 及至离去，他却自夸。It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
15有金子和许多宝石， 惟知识的嘴唇是贵重的珍宝。There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
16谁为陌生人担保，就拿谁的衣服； 谁为外邦人作保，谁就要承当。Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
17靠谎言而得的食物，令人愉悦； 到后来，他的口必充满碎石。Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
18计谋凭筹算立定， 打仗要凭智谋。Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
19到处传话的，泄漏机密； 口无遮拦的，不可与他结交。He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
20咒骂父母的， 他的灯必熄灭，在漆黑中。Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
21起初很快得来的产业， 终久却不是福。An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
22你不要说：“我要以恶报恶”； 要等候耶和华，他必拯救你。Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
23两样的法码为耶和华所憎恶， 诡诈的天平也为不善。Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
24人的脚步为耶和华所定， 人岂能明白自己的道路呢？Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
25人冒失地声称：“这是神圣的！” 许愿之后才细想，就是自陷圈套。It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.
26智慧的王驱散恶人， 用轮子滚过他们。A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.
27人的灵是耶和华的灯， 鉴察人的内心深处。The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
28慈爱和诚实庇护君王， 他的王位因慈爱而立稳。Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.
29强壮是青年的荣耀； 白发为老人的尊荣。The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head.
30鞭伤除净邪恶， 责打可洁净人心深处。The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2人一切所行的，在自己眼中看为正直， 惟有耶和华衡量人心。Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3行公义和公平 比献祭更蒙耶和华悦纳。To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4眼高心傲，就是恶人的灯， 都是罪。An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5殷勤筹划的，足致丰裕； 行事急躁的，必致缺乏。The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6用诡诈之舌所得的财富 如被吹散的雾气，趋向灭亡☛“趋向灭亡”：有古卷、七十士译本和其他古译本是“和死亡的圈套”。。The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7恶人的残暴必扫去自己， 因他们不肯按公平行事。The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8有罪的人其路弯曲； 纯洁的人行为正直。The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9宁可住在房顶的一角， 也不与好争吵的妇人同住。It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10恶人的心渴想邪恶， 他的眼并不怜悯邻舍。The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11傲慢人受惩罚，愚蒙人可得智慧； 智慧人受训诲，便得知识。When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12公义的神☛“公义的神”或译“义人”。鉴察恶人的家， 他倾覆恶人，以致灭亡。The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
13塞耳不听贫寒人哀求的， 他自己呼求，也不蒙应允。Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14暗中送的礼物挽回怒气， 怀里的贿赂能止息暴怒。A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15秉公行义使义人喜乐， 却使作恶的人败坏。It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16人偏离智慧的路， 必与阴魂为伍☛“必与阴魂为伍”：原文是“必住在阴魂的会中”。。The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17爱宴乐的，必致穷乏； 贪爱酒和油的，必不富足。He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18恶人作义人的赎价， 奸诈人代替正直人。The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19宁可住在旷野之地， 也不与争吵易怒的妇人同住。It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20智慧人的居所积蓄宝物与膏油☛“智慧人...膏油”：七十士译本是“渴慕的宝物留在智慧人的嘴上”。； 愚昧人却挥霍一空。There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21追求公义慈爱的， 就寻得生命、公义☛七十士译本没有“公义”。和尊荣。He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22智慧人爬上勇士的城墙， 摧毁他所倚靠的堡垒。A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23谨守口和舌的， 就保护自己免受灾难。Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24心骄气傲的人名叫傲慢， 他行事出于狂妄骄傲。Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25懒惰人的欲望害死自己， 因为他的手不肯做工；The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26有人终日贪得无餍， 义人却施舍而不吝惜。He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27恶人献的祭是可憎的， 何况他存恶意来献呢？The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28不实的见证必消灭； 惟聆听真情的，他的证词有力。A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29恶人脸无羞耻； 正直人行事坚定☛“正直人行事坚定”：原文另译“正直人明白己道”。。A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
30没有人能以智慧、聪明、 谋略抵挡耶和华。There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31马是为打仗之日预备的； 得胜却在于耶和华。The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
2有钱人与穷乏人相遇☛“相遇”或译“是一样的”。， 他们都为耶和华所造。The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
3通达人见祸就藏躲； 愚蒙人却前往受害。A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
4敬畏耶和华心存谦卑， 就得财富、尊荣、生命为赏赐。By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
5歪曲的人路上有荆棘和罗网， 保护自己生命的，必要远离。Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
6教养孩童走当行的道， 就是到老他也不偏离。☛七十士译本没有本节。Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
7有钱人管辖穷乏人， 欠债的是债主的仆人。The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
8撒不义种子的必收割灾祸， 他逞怒的杖也必废掉。He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
9眼目仁慈的必蒙福， 因他将食物分给贫寒人。He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
10赶出傲慢人，争端就消除， 纷争和羞辱也必止息。Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
11喜爱清心，嘴唇有恩言的， 王必与他为友。He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
12耶和华的眼目保护知识， 却毁坏奸诈人的言语。The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
13懒惰人说：“外面有狮子， 我在街上必被杀害。”The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.
14陌生女子的口是深坑， 耶和华所憎恶的，必陷在其中。The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.
15愚昧迷住孩童的心， 用管教的杖可以远远赶除。Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
16欺压贫寒人为要利己的， 并送礼给有钱人的，都必缺乏。智言三十则
He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
17你要侧耳听智慧人的言语☛“你要...言语”：七十士译本是“智慧人的言语：你要侧耳听我的言语”。， 留心领会我的知识。Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
18你若心中存记， 嘴唇也准备就绪，这是美的。For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
19我今日特地指教你， 为要使你倚靠耶和华。That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
20谋略和知识的美事☛“美事”：原文另译“三十句”。， 我岂没有写给你吗？Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
21要使你明白真情实理， 好将实情回覆那差你来的人。That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
22不可因人贫寒就抢夺他， 也不可在城门口欺压困苦人，Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
23因耶和华必为他们辩护， 也必夺取那抢夺者的命。For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
24不可结交好生气的人， 也不可与暴怒的人来往，Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
25恐怕你效法他的行为， 自己就陷在圈套里。Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
26不要为人击掌担保， 也不要为债务作保。Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
27你若没有什么可偿还， 何必使人夺去你睡卧的床呢？If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
28祖先所立的地界， 你不可挪移。Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
29你看见办事殷勤的人吗？ 他必侍立在君王面前， 不在平庸的人面前。Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:
2你若是胃口大的人， 就当拿刀放在喉咙上。And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.
3不可贪恋长官的美食， 因为那是欺哄人的食物。Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.
4不要劳碌求富， 要有聪明来节制。Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
5你定睛在财富，它就消失， 因为它必长翅膀，如鹰向天飞去。Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
6守财奴☛“守财奴”：原文直译“眼目邪恶的人”。的饭，你不要吃， 也不要贪恋他的美味；Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:
7因为他的心怎样算计☛“心怎样算计”：原文另译“喉咙有头发”。， 他为人就是这样。 他虽对你说：请吃，请喝， 他的心却与你相背。For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
8你所吃的那点食物必吐出来， 你恭维的话语也必落空。The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
9不要说话给愚昧人听， 因他必藐视你智慧的言语。Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
10不可挪移古时的地界， 也不可侵占孤儿的田地，Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
11因他们的救赎者☛“救赎者”或译“赎业至亲”。大有能力， 他必向你为他们辩护。For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.
12你要留心领受训诲， 侧耳听从知识的言语。Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
13不可不管教孩童， 因为你用杖打他，他不会死。Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
14你用杖打他， 就可以救他的性命免下阴间。Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
15我儿啊，你若心存智慧， 我的心就甚欢喜。My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
16你的嘴唇若说正直话， 我的心肠也必快乐。Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
17你的心不要羡慕罪人， 却要羡慕常常敬畏耶和华的人，Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
18因为你必有前途， 你的指望也不致断绝。For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.
19我儿啊，你当听，当存智慧， 好在正道上引导你的心。Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
20不可与好饮酒的人在一起， 也不要跟贪吃肉的人来往，Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
21因为贪食好酒的，必致贫穷， 爱睡觉的，必穿破烂衣服。For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
22你要听从生你的父亲； 不可因母亲年老而轻看她。Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.
23你当获得真理，不可出卖， 智慧、训诲和聪明也是一样。Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
24义人的父亲必大大快乐， 生智慧儿子的，必因他欢喜。The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.
25愿你的父母欢喜， 愿那生你的母亲快乐。Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.
26我儿啊，要将你的心归我， 你的眼目也要喜爱☛“喜爱”：原文另译“谨守”。我的道路。My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
27妓女是深坑， 外邦女子是窄井。For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.
28她像强盗埋伏， 她使奸诈的人增多。She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.
29谁有祸患？谁有灾难？ 谁有纷争？谁有焦虑？ 谁无故受伤？谁的眼目红赤？Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
30就是那流连饮酒的人， 常去寻找调和的酒。They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
31酒发红，在杯中闪烁时， 你不可观看； 虽下咽舒畅， 终究它必咬你如蛇，刺你如毒蛇。Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
32你的眼睛必看见怪异的事， 你的心必发出乖谬的话。At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
33你必像躺在深海中， 或卧在桅杆顶上，Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
34说：“人击打我，但我未受伤， 重击我，我不觉得。 我几时清醒， 还要再去寻酒。”Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2因为他们的心图谋暴行， 他们的嘴唇谈论奸恶。For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
3房屋因智慧建造， 因聪明立稳；Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4又因知识， 屋内充满各样美好宝贵的财物。And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5有智慧的勇士大有能力， 有知识的人力上加力。A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
6你去打仗，要凭智谋； 谋士众多，就必得胜。For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
7对愚妄人，智慧高不可及， 所以他在城门不敢开口。Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
8图谋行恶的， 必称为奸诈人。He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
9愚妄人的筹划尽是罪恶， 傲慢者为人所憎恶。The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
10在患难时你若灰心， 你的力量就微小。If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
11人被拉到死亡，你要解救； 人将被杀，你须拦阻。If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
12你若说：“看哪，这事我们不知道”， 那衡量人心的岂不明白吗？ 保护你性命的岂不知道吗？ 他岂不按各人所做的报应各人吗？If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
13我儿啊，你要吃蜜，因为它是美好的， 要让甘甜的蜜滴入你的口。My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
14你要知道，智慧对你的生命正像如此。 你若找着，必有前途， 你的指望也不致断绝。So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
15你这恶人，不可埋伏攻击义人的家， 也不可毁坏他安居之所。Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
16因为义人虽七次跌倒，仍必兴起； 恶人却被祸患倾倒。For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17你的仇敌跌倒，你不要欢喜， 他倾倒，你的心不要快乐；Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18恐怕耶和华看见就不喜悦， 将怒气从仇敌身上转过来。Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19不要为作恶的心怀不平， 也不要嫉妒恶人，Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
20因为坏人没有前途， 恶人的灯也必熄灭。For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
21我儿啊，你要敬畏耶和华与君王， 不可结交反覆无常的人，My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
22因为他们的灾难必忽然兴起。 谁能知道耶和华与君王所施行的毁灭呢？其他智言
For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
23以下也是智慧人的箴言： 审判时看人情面是不好的。These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24对恶人说“你是义人”的， 万民必诅咒，万族必恼恨。He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
25责备恶人的，必得喜悦， 美好的福分也必临到他。But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
26应对合宜的， 犹如与人亲吻。Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.
27你要在外面预备材料， 在田间为自己准备齐全， 然后才建造你的房屋。Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
28不可无故作证反对邻舍， 也不可用嘴唇欺骗人。Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
29不可说：“人怎样待我，我也怎样待他， 我必照他所做的报复他。”Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
30我经过懒惰人的田地， 走过无知人的葡萄园，I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31看哪，它长满了荆棘， 荨麻盖地面， 石墙也坍塌了。And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32我看见就留心思想， 我看着就领受训诲。Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
33再睡片时，打盹片时， 抱着双臂躺卧片时，Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34你的贫穷就如盗贼来到， 你的贫乏仿佛拿盾牌的人来临。So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
所罗门的另一些箴言
以下也是所罗门的箴言，是犹大王希西家的人所誊录的。
These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
2隐藏事情是神的荣耀； 查明事情乃君王的荣耀。It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
3天之高，地之深， 君王之心测不透。The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4除去银子的渣滓， 银匠就做出器皿来。Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
5除去王面前的恶人， 国位就靠公义坚立。Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6不可在君王面前妄自尊大， 也不要站在大人的位上。Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
7宁可让人家说“请你上到这里来”， 强如在你觐见的贵人面前令你退下。For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
8不要冒失出去与人争讼☛“强如...争讼”或译“强如在贵人面前令你退下。你所看见的，不要冒失出去与人争讼”。 ， 免得你的邻舍羞辱你， 最后你就不知怎么做。Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
9要与邻舍争辩你的案情， 不可泄漏他人的隐密，Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:
10恐怕听见的人责骂你， 你就难以摆脱臭名。Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.
11一句话说得合宜， 就如金苹果在银网子里☛“在银网子里”或译“在银的底座上”。。A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
12智慧人的劝戒在顺从的人耳中， 好像金环和金首饰。As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13忠信的使者对那差他的人， 就如收割时有冰雪的凉气， 使主人的心舒畅。As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
14人空夸礼物而不肯赠送， 就好像有风有云却无雨。Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
15恒常的忍耐可以劝服君王， 柔和的舌头能折断骨头。By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
16你得了蜜，吃够就好， 免得过饱就吐出来。Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17你的脚要少进邻舍的家， 免得他厌烦你，恨恶你。Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
18作假见证陷害邻舍的， 就是大锤，是利刀，是快箭。A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19患难时倚靠奸诈的人， 好像牙齿断裂，又如脚脱臼。Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20对伤心的人唱歌， 就如冷天脱他的衣服， 又如在碱上倒醋☛“在碱上倒醋”：七十士译本是“在伤口上洒醋”。。As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
21你的仇敌若饿了，就给他饭吃， 若渴了，就给他水喝；If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22因为你这样做，就是把炭火堆在他的头上， 耶和华必回报你。For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
23正如北风生雨， 毁谤的舌头也生怒容。The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
24宁可住在房顶的一角， 也不与好争吵的妇人同住。It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
25有好消息从遥远的地方来， 就如凉水滋润口渴的人。As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
26义人在恶人面前退缩， 好像搅浑之泉，污染之井。A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
27吃蜜过多是不好的， 自求荣耀也是一样。It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
28人不克制自己的心， 就像毁坏的城没有墙。He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.
2诅咒不会无故临到☛“诅咒...临到”：原文另译“无故的诅咒必返回自己身上”。， 正如麻雀掠过，燕子翻飞。As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
3鞭子是为打马，辔头是为勒驴， 刑杖正是为打愚昧人的背。A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.
4不要照愚昧人的愚昧话回答他， 免得你与他一样。Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
5要照愚昧人的愚昧话回答他， 免得他自以为有智慧。Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
6藉愚昧人的手寄信的， 就像砍断双脚，喝下残暴。He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.
7箴言在愚昧人的口中， 正如瘸子的脚悬空无用。The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
8将尊荣给愚昧人的， 就像石头绑在弹弓上。As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.
9箴言在愚昧人的口中， 好像荆棘刺入醉汉的手。As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
10雇愚昧人的，与雇过路人的， 就像弓箭手射伤任何人。The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.
11愚昧人重复做愚昧之事， 就如狗转过来吃自己所吐的。As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
12你看见自以为有智慧的人吗？ 愚昧人比他更有指望。Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
13懒惰人说：“道路有猛狮， 街上有壮狮。”The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.
14懒惰人在床上， 就像门在轴心上转动一样。As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.
15懒惰人把手埋入盘里， 就是送进口中也觉得累。The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.
16懒惰人眼看自己 比七个善于应对的人更有智慧。The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.
17过路时卷入与己无关的纷争， 好像人揪住狗耳一般。He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.
18人欺骗邻舍，却说 “我只是开玩笑而已”， 他就像疯狂的人抛掷致死的火把和利箭。As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,
19火缺了柴就必熄灭； 无人造谣，纷争就止息。So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?
20好争吵的人煽动争端， 就如余火加炭，火上加柴一样。Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
21造谣者的话如同美食， 深入人的肚腹。As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.
22火热的☛“火热的”：七十士译本是“油滑的”。嘴唇，邪恶的心， 好像银渣包在瓦器上。The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
23仇敌用嘴唇掩饰， 心里却藏着诡诈；Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.
24他用甜言蜜语，你不能相信他， 因为他心中有七样可憎恶的事。He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;
25他虽用诡诈掩饰怨恨， 他的邪恶必在集会中显露。When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.
26挖陷坑的，自己必陷在其中； 滚石头的，石头反滚在他身上。Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.
27虚谎的舌憎恨他所压伤的人； 谄媚的口败坏人的事。Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.
Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
2要让陌生人夸奖你，不可用口自夸； 让外邦人称赞你，不可用嘴唇称赞自己。Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
3石头沉，沙土重， 愚妄人的恼怒比这两样更沉重。A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.
4愤怒为残忍，怒气像狂澜， 惟有嫉妒，谁能挡得住呢？Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
5当面的责备 胜过隐藏的爱情。Open rebuke is better than secret love.
6朋友加的伤痕出于忠诚； 敌人的亲吻却是多余。Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
7人吃饱了，厌恶蜂房的蜜； 人饥饿了，一切苦物都觉甘甜。The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
8人离故乡漂泊， 就像雀鸟离窝四处飞翔。As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
9膏油与香料使人心喜悦， 朋友诚心的劝勉也是如此甘美。Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
10你的朋友和父亲的朋友， 你都不可离弃。 你遭难时，不要上兄弟的家去； 相近的邻舍强如远方的兄弟。Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
11我儿啊，你要做智慧人，好叫我的心欢喜， 使我可以回答那辱骂我的人。My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
12通达人见祸就藏躲； 愚蒙人却前往受害。A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
13谁为陌生人担保，就拿谁的衣服； 谁为外邦女子作保，谁就要承当。Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
14清晨起来大声给朋友祝福的， 就算是诅咒他。He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
15下雨天连连滴漏， 好争吵的妇人就像这样；A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
16拦阻她的，就是拦阻风， 又像用右手抓油。Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which bewrayeth itself.
17以铁磨铁，越磨越利， 朋友当面琢磨，也是如此。Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
18看守无花果树的，必吃树上的果子； 敬奉主人的，必得尊荣。Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
19水中照脸，彼此相符； 人心相映，也是如此。As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
20阴间和冥府☛“冥府”：原文音译“亚巴顿”，意思是“灭亡之地”。永不满足， 人的眼目也是如此。Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
21鼎为炼银，炉为炼金， 口中的称赞也试炼人。As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
22用杵把愚妄人与谷粒一同捣在臼中， 他的愚昧还是离不了他。Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
23你要详细知道你羊群的景况， 留心照顾你的牛群，Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
24因为财富不能永留， 冠冕岂能存到万代？For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?
25青草除去，嫩草长出， 山上的菜蔬也被采收。The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
26绵羊可以做衣服， 公山羊可作田地的价值，The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
27并有母山羊奶够你吃， 够你养家和女仆的生活。And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.
The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
2地上因有罪过，君王就多更换； 因聪明和有见识的人，国必长存。For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
3穷乏人欺压贫寒人， 好像暴雨扫过，不留粮食。A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
4离弃律法的，夸奖恶人； 遵守律法的，却与恶人相争。They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
5恶人不明白公义； 惟有寻求耶和华的，无不明白。Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
6行为纯正的穷乏人 胜过行事歪曲的有钱人。Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
7谨守教诲的，是聪明之子； 与贪食者为伍的，却羞辱其父。Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
8人以厚利增加财富， 是给那怜悯贫寒人的积财。He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
9转耳不听教诲的， 他的祈祷也可憎。He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
10诱惑正直人行恶道的，必掉在自己的坑里； 惟有完全人必承受福分。Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
11有钱人自以为有智慧， 但聪明的贫寒人能看穿他。The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
12义人高升，有大荣耀； 恶人兴起，人就躲藏。When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.
13遮掩自己过犯的，必不顺利； 承认且离弃过犯的，必蒙怜悯。He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
14常存敬畏的，这人有福了； 心里刚硬的，必陷在祸患里。Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
15邪恶的君王压制贫民， 好像吼叫的狮子，又如觅食的熊。As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.
16无知的君王多行暴虐； 恨恶非分之财的，必年长日久。The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
17背负流人血之罪的，必逃跑直到地府； 愿无人帮助他！A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.
18行为正直的，必蒙拯救； 行事弯曲的，立时跌倒。Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
19耕种自己田地的，粮食充足； 追求虚浮的，穷困潦倒。He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
20诚实人必多得福； 想要急速发财的，难免受罚。A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
21看人情面是不好的； 却有人因一块饼而犯法。To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.
22守财奴☛“守财奴”：原文直译“眼目邪恶的人”。想要急速发财， 却不知穷乏必临到他身上。He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
23责备人的，后来蒙人喜悦， 多于那用舌头谄媚人的。He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
24抢夺父母竟说“这不是罪过”， 此人与毁灭者同类。Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.
25心中贪婪的，挑起争端； 倚靠耶和华的，必得丰裕。He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
26心中自以为是的，就是愚昧人； 凭智慧行事的，必蒙拯救。He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
27周济穷乏人的，不致缺乏； 遮眼不看的，多受诅咒。He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
28恶人兴起，人就躲藏； 恶人败亡，义人必增多。When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
2义人增多，民就喜乐； 恶人掌权，民就叹息。When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
3爱慕智慧的，使父亲喜乐； 结交妓女的，却浪费钱财。Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
4王藉公平，使国坚定； 强索贡物的，使它毁坏。The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
5谄媚邻舍的， 就是设网罗绊他的脚。A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
6恶人犯罪，自陷圈套； 惟独义人欢呼喜乐。In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
7义人关注贫寒人的案情； 恶人不明了这种知识。The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
8傲慢人煽动全城； 智慧人止息众怒。Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
9智慧人与愚妄人有争讼， 或怒或笑，总不得安宁。If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
10好流人血的，恨恶完全人， 正直人却顾惜☛“顾惜”：原文是“寻索”。他的性命。The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.
11愚昧人怒气全发； 智慧人自我平息。A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
12君王若听谎言， 他一切臣仆都是奸恶。If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
13穷乏人和欺压者相遇☛“相遇”或译“是一样的”。， 耶和华使他们的眼目明亮。The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.
14君王凭诚信判断贫寒人， 他的国位必永远坚立。The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
15杖打和责备能增加智慧； 任性的少年使母亲羞愧。The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
16恶人多，过犯也加多， 义人必看见他们败亡。When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
17管教你的儿子，他就使你得安宁， 也使你心里喜乐。Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
18没有异象☛“异象”或译“默示”。，民就放肆； 惟遵守律法的，便为有福。Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
19仆人不能靠言语受教； 他即使明白，也不回应。A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.
20你见过言语急躁的人吗？ 愚昧人比他更有指望。Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
21人将仆人从小娇养， 至终必带来忧伤☛“至终必带来忧伤”或译“这仆人至终必成了他的继承人”。。He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.
22好生气的人挑起争端， 暴怒的人多多犯错。An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
23人的高傲使自己蒙羞； 心里谦逊的，必得尊荣。A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
24与盗贼分赃的，是恨恶自己的性命； 他虽听见发誓的声音，也不告诉人。Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.
25惧怕人的，陷入圈套； 惟有倚靠耶和华的，必得安稳。The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
26求王恩的人多； 人获公正来自耶和华。Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
27不义之人，义人憎恶； 行事正直的，恶人憎恶。An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,
2我比众人更像畜牲， 也没有人的聪明。Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.
3我没有学好智慧， 也不认识至圣者。I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
4谁升天又降下来？ 谁聚风在手掌中？ 谁包水在衣服里？ 谁立定地的四极？ 他名叫什么？ 他儿子名叫什么？ 你知道吗？Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?
5神的言语句句都是炼净的， 投靠他的，他便作他们的盾牌。Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6你不可加添他的言语， 恐怕他责备你，你就显为说谎的。其他箴言
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
7我求你两件事， 在我未死之先，不要拒绝我：Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
8求你使虚假和谎言远离我， 使我不贫穷也不富足， 赐给我需用的饮食。Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
9免得我饱足了，就不认你，说： “耶和华是谁呢？” 又恐怕我贫穷就偷窃， 以致亵渎我神的名。Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
10不要向主人谗害他的仆人， 恐怕他诅咒你，你便算为有罪。Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.
11有一类人，诅咒父亲， 不给母亲祝福。There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
12有一类人，自以为纯洁， 却没有洗净自己的污秽。There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
13有一类人，眼目何其高傲， 眼皮也是高举。There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
14有一类人，牙如剑，齿如刀， 要吞灭地上的困苦人和世间的贫穷人。There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
15水蛭有两个女儿： “给呀，给呀。” 有三样不知足的， 不说“够了”的有四样：The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:
16阴间和不生育的子宫， 吸水不足的地，还有不说“够了”的火。The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.
17嘲笑父亲、藐视而不听从母亲的， 谷中的乌鸦必啄他的眼睛，小鹰也必吃它。The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
18我所测不透的奇妙有三样， 我所不知道的有四样：There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
19就是鹰在空中飞的道， 蛇在磐石上爬的道， 船在海中行的道， 男与女交合的道。The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
20淫妇的道是这样， 她吃了，把嘴一擦就说： “我没有行恶。”Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.
21使地震动的有三样， 地承担不起的有四样：For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:
22就是仆人作王， 愚顽人吃得饱足，For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;
23令人憎恶的女子出嫁， 婢女取代她的女主人。For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
24地上有四样东西虽小，却甚聪明：There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:
25蚂蚁是无力之类， 却在夏天预备粮食。The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;
26石獾并非强壮之类， 却在岩石中造房子。The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
27蝗虫没有君王， 却分队而出。The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
28壁虎你用手就可抓住， 它却住在王宫。The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.
29脚步威武的有三样， 行走威武的有四样：There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:
30狮子－百兽中最勇猛的、 无论遇见什么绝不退缩，A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;
31猎狗，公山羊， 和有整排士兵的君王。A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.
32你若行事愚顽，自高自傲， 或是设计恶谋，就当用手捂口。If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.
33搅动牛奶必成乳酪， 扭鼻子必出血， 照样，激发烈怒必挑起争端。Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
给君王的忠告
玛撒王利慕伊勒的言语，就是他母亲教导他的☛“玛撒王...他的”或译“利慕伊勒王的言语，是他母亲教导他的神谕”。。
The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
2我儿，怎么了？ 我腹中生的儿，怎么了？ 我许愿而得的儿，怎么了？What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
3不要将你的精力给妇女， 也不要有败坏君王的行为。Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4利慕伊勒啊，君王不宜，君王不宜喝酒， 王子寻找烈酒也不相宜；It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5恐怕喝了就忘记所颁的法令， 颠倒所有困苦人的是非。Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6可以把烈酒给将亡的人喝， 把酒给心里愁苦的人喝，Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7让他喝了，就忘记他的贫穷， 不再记得他的苦楚。Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
8你当为不能自辩的人☛“不能自辩的人”或译“哑巴”。开口， 为所有孤独无助者伸冤。Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
9你当开口按公义判断， 当为困苦和贫穷的人辩护。论贤妻
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
10☛由本节开始，原文是字母诗。才德的妇人谁能得着呢？ 她的价值远胜过宝石。Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11她丈夫心里信赖她， 必不缺少利益；The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12她终其一生， 使丈夫有益无损。She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13她寻找羊毛和麻， 欢喜用手做工。She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14她好像商船， 从远方运来粮食，She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15未到黎明她就起来， 把食物分给家中的人， 将当做的工分派女仆。She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16她想得田地，就去买来， 用手中的成果栽葡萄园。She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17她以能力束腰， 使膀臂有力。She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18她觉得自己获利不错， 她的灯终夜不灭。She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19她伸手拿卷线杆， 她的手掌把住纺车。She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20她张手周济困苦人， 伸手帮助贫穷人。She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21她不因下雪为家里的人担心， 因为全家都穿上朱红衣服。She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22她为自己制作被单， 她的衣服是细麻和紫色布做的。She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23她丈夫在城门口与本地的长老同坐， 为人所认识。Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24她做细麻布衣裳来卖， 又将腰带卖给商家。She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25能力和威仪是她的衣服， 她想到日后的景况就喜笑。Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26她开口就发智慧， 她舌上有仁慈的教诲。She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27她管理家务， 并不吃闲饭。She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28她的儿女起来称她有福， 她的丈夫也称赞她：Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29“才德的女子很多， 惟独你超过一切。”Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30魅力是虚假的，美貌是虚浮的； 惟敬畏耶和华的妇女必得称赞。Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31她手中的成果你们要赏给她， 愿她的工作在城门口荣耀她。Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
