奉我们的救主神，和我们的盼望基督耶稣的命令，作基督耶稣使徒的保罗，
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
2写信给那因信主作我真儿子的提摩太。愿恩惠、怜悯、平安☛“平安”或译“和平”。从父神和我们主基督耶稣归给你！警告虚伪的教义
Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
3我往马其顿去的时候，曾劝你留在以弗所，好嘱咐某些人不可传别的教义，As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
4也不要听从无稽的传说和冗长的家谱；这样的事只会引起争论，无助于神的计划，这计划是凭着信才能了解的。Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
5但命令的目的就是爱；这爱是出于清洁的心、无愧的良心和无伪的信心。Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
6有人偏离了这些而转向空谈，From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
7想要作律法教师，却不明白自己所讲的是什么，也不知道所主张的是什么。Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
8我们知道，只要人善用律法，律法是好的；But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9因为知道律法不是为义人订立的，而是为不法和叛逆的，不虔诚和犯罪的，不圣洁和恋世俗的，弑父母和杀人的，Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10犯淫乱和亲男色的，拐卖人口和说谎话的，并起假誓的，或是为任何违背健全教义的事订立的。For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
11这是按照可称颂、荣耀之神交托我的福音说的。感谢神的怜悯
According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
12我感谢那赐给我力量的我们的主基督耶稣，因为他认为我可信任，派我服事他。And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
13我从前是亵渎、迫害、侮慢神的人；然而我还蒙了怜悯，因为我是在不信、不明白的时候做的。Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
14而且我们的主的恩典格外丰盛，使我在基督耶稣里有信心和爱心。And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15这话可信，值得完全接受：“基督耶稣到世上来是要拯救罪人”，而在罪人中我是个罪魁。This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16然而，我蒙了怜悯，好让基督耶稣在我这罪魁身上显明他完全的忍耐，给后来信他得永生的人做榜样。Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
17愿尊贵、荣耀归给永世的君王，那不朽坏、看不见、独一的神，直到永永远远。阿们！Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
18我儿提摩太啊，我照从前指着你的预言把这命令交托你，使你能藉着这些预言打那美好的仗，This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
19常存信心和无愧的良心。有些人丢弃良心，在信仰上触了礁；Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
20其中有许米乃和亚历山大，我已经把他们交给撒但，让他们学会不再亵渎。Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
有关祷告的指示
所以，我劝你，首先要为人人祈求、祷告、代求、感谢；
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2为君王和一切在位的，也要如此，使我们能够敬虔端正地过平稳宁静的生活。For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3这是好的，在我们的救主神面前可蒙悦纳。For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4他愿意人人得救，并得以认识真理。Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5因为只有一位神， 在神和人之间也只有一位中保， 是成为人的基督耶稣。For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6他献上自己作人人的赎价； 在适当的时候这事已经证实了。Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
7我为此奉派作传道，作使徒，在信仰和真理上作外邦人的教师。我说的是真话，不是说谎。Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
8我希望男人举起圣洁的手随处祷告，不发怒，不争论。I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
9我也希望女人以端正、克制和合乎体统的服装打扮自己，不以编发、金饰、珍珠和名贵衣裳来打扮。In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10要有善行，这才与自称为敬畏神的女人相称。But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
11女人要事事顺服地安静学习。Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12我不许女人教导，也不许她管辖男人，只要安静。But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13因为亚当先被造，然后才是夏娃；For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14亚当并没有受骗，而是女人受骗，陷在过犯里。And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15然而，女人若持守信心、爱心，又圣洁克制，就必藉着生产而得救。Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
监督的资格
“若有人想望监督的职分，他是在羡慕一件好事”，这话是可信的。
This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2监督必须无可指责，只作一个妇人的丈夫，有节制、克己、端正，乐意接待外人，善于教导，A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3不酗酒，不打人；要温和，不好斗，不贪财。Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4要好好管理自己的家，使儿女顺服，凡事庄重。One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5人若不知道管理自己的家，怎能照管神的教会呢？(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6刚信主的，不可作监督，恐怕他自高自大，落在魔鬼所受的惩罚里。Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7监督也必须在教外有好名声，免得被人毁谤，落在魔鬼的罗网里。执事的资格
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8同样，执事也必须庄重，不一口两舌，不好酒，不贪不义之财；Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9要存清白的良心固守信仰的奥秘。Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10这些人也要先受考验，若没有可责之处，才让他们作执事。And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11同样，女执事 ☛“女执事”或译“他们的妻子”。也必须庄重，不说闲话，有节制，凡事忠心。Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12执事只作一个妇人的丈夫，要好好管儿女和自己的家。Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13因为善于作执事的，为自己得到美好的地位，并且无惧地坚信在基督耶稣里的信仰。敬虔的奥秘
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14我希望尽快到你那里去，所以先把这些事写给你；These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
15倘若我延误了，你也可以知道在神的家中该怎样做。这家就是永生神的教会，真理的柱石和根基。But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16敬虔的奥秘是公认为伟大的： 神在肉身显现， 被圣灵称义， 被天使看见， 被传于外邦， 被世人信服， 被接在荣耀里。And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
预言有人离弃信仰
圣灵明说，在末后的时期必有人离弃信仰，去听信那诱惑人的邪灵和鬼魔的教训。
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2这是出于撒谎者的假冒；这些人的良心如同被热铁烙了一般。Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3他们禁止嫁娶，又禁戒食物—就是神所造、让那信而明白真理的人存感谢的心领受的。Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4神所造之物样样都是好的，若存感谢的心领受，没有一样是不可吃的，For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5都因神的话和人的祈祷而成为圣洁了。基督耶稣的好执事
For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6你若把这些事提醒弟兄们，就是基督耶稣的好执事，在信仰的话语和你向来所服从的正确教义上得到了栽培。If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7要弃绝那世俗的言语和老妇的无稽传说。要在敬虔上操练自己：But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8因操练身体有些益处；但敬虔在各方面都有益，它有现今和未来的生命的应许。For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9这话可信，值得完全接受。This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10我们劳苦，努力☛有古卷是“遭受谴责”。正是为此，因为我们的指望在乎永生的神。他是人人的救主，更是信徒的救主。For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11你要嘱咐和教导这些事。These things command and teach.
12不可叫人小看你年轻，总要在言语、行为、爱心、信心、清洁上，都作信徒的榜样。Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13要以宣读圣经，劝勉，教导为念，直等到我来。Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14不要忽略你所得的恩赐，就是从前藉着预言、在众长老按手的时候赐给你的。Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15这些事你要殷勤去做，并要在这些事上专心，让众人看出你的长进来。Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16要谨慎自己和自己的教导，要在这些事上恒心，因为这样做，既能救自己，又能救听你的人。Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
对别人的本分
不可严责老年人，要劝他如同父亲。要待年轻人如同弟兄，
Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
2年老妇女如同母亲。要清清洁洁地待年轻妇女如同姊妹。The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
3要尊敬真正守寡的妇人。Honour widows that are widows indeed.
4寡妇若有儿女，或有孙儿女，要让儿孙先在自己家中学习行孝，报答亲恩，因为这在神面前是可蒙悦纳的。But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
5独居无靠的真寡妇只仰赖神，昼夜不住地祈求祷告。Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
6但好宴乐的寡妇活着也算是死了。But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
7这些事，你要嘱咐她们，让她们无可指责。And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8若有人不照顾亲属，尤其是自己家里的人，就是背弃信仰，还不如不信的人。But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
9寡妇登记，年龄必须在六十岁以上，只作一个丈夫的妻子，Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,
10又有行善的名声，就如养育儿女，收留外人，洗圣徒的脚，救济遭难的人，竭力行各样善事。Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
11至于年轻的寡妇，你要拒绝登记，因为她们情欲冲动、背弃基督的时候，就想嫁人，But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12她们因废弃了当初所许的愿而被定罪。Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
13同时，她们又学了懒惰，习惯于挨家闲逛；不但懒惰，而且说长道短，好管闲事，说些不该说的话。And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
14所以，我希望年轻的寡妇嫁人，生养儿女，治理家务，不让敌人有辱骂的把柄，I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
15因为已经有一些人转去随从撒但了。For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16信主的妇女若有亲戚是寡妇，要救济她们，不可拖累教会，好使教会能救济真正无助的寡妇。If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
17善于督导教会的长老，尤其是勤劳讲道教导人的，应该得到加倍的敬奉。Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
18因为经上说：“牛在踹谷的时候，不可笼住它的嘴”；又说：“工人得工资是应当的。”For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
19有控告长老的案件，非有两三个证人就不要受理。Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
20继续犯罪的人，要在众人面前责备他，使其余的人也有所惧怕。Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
21我在神、基督耶稣和蒙拣选的天使面前嘱咐你要遵守这些话，不可存成见，做事也不可偏心。I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
22不可急于给人行按手礼；也不可在别人的罪上有份，要保守自己纯洁。Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.
23为了你的胃，又常患病，不要只喝水，要稍微喝点酒。Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
24有些人的罪是明显的，已先受审判了；有些人的罪是随后跟着来。Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
25同样，善行也有明显的，就是那不明显的也不能隐藏。Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
凡负轭作奴隶的，要认为自己的主人配受各样的尊敬，免得神的名和教导被人亵渎。
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
2奴隶若有信主的主人，不可因他是主内弟兄就轻看他们，更要越发服侍他们，因为得到服侍的益处的正是信徒，是蒙爱的人。假教导和真财富
你要教导和劝勉这些事。
And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
3若有人传别的教义，不符合我们主耶稣基督纯正的话语与合乎敬虔的教导，If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4他是自高自大，一无所知，专好争辩，擅于舌战，因而生出嫉妒、纷争、毁谤、恶意猜疑，He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5和心术不正与丧失真理的人不停地争吵，以敬虔为得利的门路。Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6其实，敬虔加上知足就是大利。But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7因为我们没有带什么到世上来， 也不能带什么去；For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8只要有衣有食， 我们就该知足。And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9但那些想要发财的人就陷在诱惑、罗网和许多无知有害的欲望中，使人沉沦，以致败坏和灭亡。But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10贪财是万恶之根。有人因贪恋钱财而背离信仰，用许多愁苦把自己刺透了。美好的仗
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11但你这属神的人哪，要逃避这些事；要追求公义、敬虔、信心、爱心、忍耐、温柔。But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12你要为信仰打那美好的仗；要持定永生，你为此被召，也已经在许多见证人面前作了那美好的见证。Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13我在那赐生命给万物的神面前，并在向本丢．彼拉多作过那美好见证的基督耶稣面前嘱咐你☛有古卷没有“你”。：I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14要守这命令，毫不玷污，无可指责，直到我们的主耶稣基督显现。That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15到了适当的时候都要显明出来： 他是那可称颂、独一的权能者， 万王之王， 万主之主，Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16就是那独一不死、 住在人不能靠近的光里， 是人未曾看见，也是不能看见的。 愿尊贵和永远的权能都归给他。阿们！Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
17至于那些今世富足的人，你要嘱咐他们不要自高，也不要倚赖靠不住的钱财；要倚靠那厚赐万物给我们享受的神。Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18又要嘱咐他们行善，在好事上富足，甘心施舍，乐意分享，That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19为自己积存财富，而为将来打美好的根基，好使他们能把握那真正的生命。Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20提摩太啊，要持守所给你的托付。要躲避世俗的空谈和那假冒知识的矛盾言论。O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21有人自称有这知识而偏离了信仰。 愿恩惠与你们同在！Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
