撒但试探约伯
乌斯地有一个人名叫约伯。这人完全、正直、敬畏神、远离恶事。
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
2他生了七个儿子，三个女儿。And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.
3他的家产有七千只羊，三千匹骆驼，五百对牛，五百匹母驴，并有许多仆婢。这人在东方人中为至大。His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
4他的儿子按着日子各在自己家里摆设宴席，派人去请他们的三个姊妹来，与他们一同吃喝。And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
5宴席的日子过了，约伯派人去叫他们自洁。他清早起来，按着他们众人的数目献燔祭，因为他说：“恐怕我的儿子犯了罪，心中背弃☛“背弃”：原文是“诅咒”；11节同。神。”约伯常常这样行。And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
6有一天，神的众使者☛“神的众使者”：原文直译“神的众子”。来侍立在耶和华面前，撒但也来在其中。Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
7耶和华对撒但说：“你从哪里来？”撒但回答耶和华说：“我从地上走来走去，在那里往返。”And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
8耶和华对撒但说：“你曾用心察看我的仆人约伯没有？地上再没有人像他那样完全、正直、敬畏神、远离恶事。”And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
9撒但回答耶和华说：“约伯敬畏神，岂是无故呢？Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
10你岂不是四面圈上篱笆围护他和他的家，以及他一切所有的吗？他手所做的都蒙你赐福，他的家产也在地上增多。Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
11但你若伸手毁他一切所有的，他必当面背弃你。”But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
12耶和华对撒但说：“看哪，凡他所有的都在你手中；只是不可伸手加害于他。”于是撒但从耶和华面前退出去。约伯丧失儿女和财产
And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.
13有一天，约伯的儿女正在他们长兄的家里吃饭喝酒，And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:
14有报信的来见约伯，说：“牛正耕地，母驴在旁边吃草，And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:
15示巴人忽然闯来，把牲畜掳去，并用刀杀了仆人；惟有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。”And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
16他还说话的时候，又有人来说：“神从天上降下火来，把羊群和仆人都吞灭了；惟有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。”While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
17他还说话的时候，又有人来说：“迦勒底人分成三队忽然闯来，把骆驼掳去，并用刀杀了仆人；惟有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。”While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
18他还说话的时候，又有人来说：“你的儿女正在他们长兄的家里吃饭喝酒，While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:
19看哪，有狂风从旷野刮来，袭击房屋的四角，房屋倒塌在年轻人身上，他们就都死了；惟有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。”And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
20约伯就起来，撕裂外袍，剃了头，俯伏在地敬拜，Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
21说：“我赤身出于母胎，也必赤身归回；赏赐的是耶和华，收取的也是耶和华。耶和华的名是应当称颂的。”And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
22在这一切的事上，约伯并没有犯罪，也不以神为狂妄。In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
撒但再试探约伯
又有一天，神的众使者☛“神的众使者”：原文直译“神的众子”。来侍立在耶和华面前，撒但也来在其中。
Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
2耶和华问撒但说：“你从哪里来？”撒但回答说：“我从地上走来走去，在那里往返。”And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
3耶和华对撒但说：“你曾用心察看我的仆人约伯没有？地上再没有人像他那样完全、正直、敬畏神、远离恶事。你虽激起我攻击他，无故吞灭他，他仍然持守他的纯正。”And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
4撒但回答耶和华说：“人以皮代皮，情愿舍去一切所有的，来保全性命。And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
5但你若伸手伤他的骨头和他的肉，他必当面背弃☛“背弃”：原文是“诅咒”；9节同。你。”But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.
6耶和华对撒但说：“看哪，他在你手中，只要留下他的性命。”And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.
7于是撒但从耶和华面前退出去，击打约伯，使他从脚掌到头顶长毒疮。So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
8约伯就坐在灰烬中，拿瓦片刮身体。And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.
9他的妻子对他说：“你仍然持守你的纯正吗？你背弃神，死了吧！”Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
10约伯却对她说：“你说话，正如愚顽的妇人。唉！难道我们从神手里得福，不也受祸吗？”在这一切的事上，约伯并没有以口犯罪。三个朋友来安慰约伯
But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
11约伯的三个朋友，提幔人以利法、书亚人比勒达、拿玛人琐法，听说这一切的灾祸临到他身上，各人就从自己的地方相约同来，为他悲伤，安慰他。Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.
12他们远远地举目观看，认不出他来，就放声大哭。各人撕裂外袍，向空中撒尘土，落在自己的头上。And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.
13他们同他七天七夜坐在地上，一句话也不对他说，因为他们见到了极大的痛苦。So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.
约伯诅咒自己
此后，约伯开口诅咒自己的生日☛“自己的生日”：原文是“自己的日子”。。
After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.
2约伯说：And Job spake, and said,
3“愿我生的那日灭没， 说‘怀了男胎’的那夜也灭没。Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
4愿那日变为黑暗， 愿神不从上面寻找它， 愿亮光不照于其上。Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.
5愿黑暗和死荫索取那日， 愿密云停在其上， 愿白天的昏暗☛“白天的昏暗”或译“日蚀”。恐吓它。Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.
6愿那夜被幽暗夺取， 不在一年的日子中喜乐， 也不列入月中的数目。As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.
7看哪，愿那夜没有生育， 其间也没有欢乐的声音。Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.
8愿那些诅咒日子且能惹动力威亚探☛“力威亚探”是音译，一种海兽；或译“鳄鱼”。的， 诅咒那夜。Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.
9愿那夜黎明的星宿变为黑暗， 盼亮却不亮， 也不见晨曦破晓☛“晨曦破晓”：原文直译“清晨的眼皮”。；Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:
10因它没有把怀我胎的门关闭， 也没有从我的眼中隐藏患难。Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.
11“我为何不出母胎而死？ 为何不出母腹就气绝呢？Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?
12为何有膝盖接收我？ 为何有奶哺养我呢？Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?
13不然，我现在已躺卧安睡， 而且，早已长眠安息；For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
14与那些为自己重建荒凉之处， 地上的君王和谋士在一起；With kings and counsellors of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;
15或与把银子装满房屋， 拥有金子的王子在一起；Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:
16我为何不像流产的胎儿被埋藏， 如同未见光的婴孩？Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.
17在那里恶人止息搅扰， 在那里困乏人得享安息，There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.
18被囚的人同得安逸， 不再听见监工的声音。There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.
19大的小的都在那里， 奴仆脱离主人得自由。The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.
20“遭受患难的人为何有光赐给他呢？ 心中愁苦的人为何有生命赐给他呢？Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;
21他们等死，却不得死； 求死，胜于求隐藏的珍宝。Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;
22他们寻见坟墓， 就欢喜快乐，极其高兴。Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?
23这人的道路遮隐， 神又四面围困他。Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?
24我吃饭前就发出叹息， 我的唉哼涌出如水。For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.
25因我所恐惧的临到我， 我所惧怕的迎向我；For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
26我不得安逸，不得平静， 也不得安息，却有患难来到。”I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
第一次对话
（4．1－14．22）
提幔人以利法回答说：Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2“人想与你说话，你就厌烦吗？ 但谁能忍住不发言呢？If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?
3看哪，你素来教导许多人， 又坚固软弱的手。Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
4你的言语曾扶助跌倒的人； 你使软弱的膝盖稳固。Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.
5但现在祸患临到☛“祸患临到”：原文是“它临到”。你，你就烦躁了； 它挨近你，你就惊惶。But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
6你的倚靠不是在于你敬畏神吗？ 你的盼望不是在于你行事纯正吗？Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
7“请你追想：无辜的人有谁灭亡？ 正直的人何处被剪除？Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?
8按我所见，耕罪孽的， 种毒害的，照样收割。Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
9神一嘘气，他们就灭亡； 神一发怒，他们就消失。By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.
10狮子吼叫，猛狮咆哮， 少壮狮子的牙齿被敲断。The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.
11公狮因缺猎物而死， 母狮的幼狮都离散。The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion's whelps are scattered abroad.
12“有话暗中传递给我， 耳朵听其微小的声音。Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof.
13世人沉睡的时候， 从夜间异象的杂念中，In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,
14恐惧战兢临到我身， 使我百骨战抖。Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.
15有灵从我面前经过， 我身上的毫毛竖立。Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:
16那灵停住， 我却不能辨其形状； 有形像在我眼前。 我在静默中听见有声音：It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,
17‘必死的人能比神公义吗？ 壮士能比造他的主纯洁吗？Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
18看哪，主不信靠他的仆人， 尚且指他的使者为愚昧，Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:
19何况那些住在泥屋、 根基在尘土里、 被蛀虫所毁坏的人呢？How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?
20早晚之间，他们就被毁灭， 永归无有，无人理会。They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.
21他们帐棚的绳索岂不从中拔出来呢？ 他们死，且是无智慧而死。’”Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.
Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?
2愤怒害死愚妄人， 嫉妒杀死愚蠢的人。For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.
3我曾见愚妄人扎下根， 但我忽然诅咒他的住处。I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
4他的儿女远离稳妥之地， 在城门口被欺压，无人搭救。His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
5他的庄稼被饥饿的人吃尽了， 就是在荆棘里的也抢去了； 他的财宝被陷阱☛“陷阱”：有古译本是“口渴的人”。张口吞没了。Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.
6因为祸患不是从尘土中出来， 患难也不是从土地里长出。Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
7人生出来必遭遇患难， 如同火花☛“火花”或译“鸟儿”。飞腾。Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
8“至于我，我必寻求神， 把我的事情交托给他。I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:
9他行大事不可测度， 行奇事不可胜数。Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
10他降雨在地面， 赐水于田野。Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:
11他将卑微的人安置在高处， 将哀痛的人举到稳妥之地。To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
12他破坏通达人的计谋， 使他们手所做的不得成就。He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.
13他使有智慧的人中了自己的诡计， 叫狡诈人的计谋速速落空。He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.
14他们白昼遇见黑暗， 午间摸索如在夜间。They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.
15神拯救贫穷人脱离残暴人的手， 脱离他们口中的刀。But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
16这样，贫寒人有指望， 不义的人闭口无言。So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
17“看哪，神所惩治的人是有福的！ 所以你不可轻看全能者的管教。Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
18因为他打伤，又包扎； 他击伤，又亲手医治。For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
19你六次遭难，他必救你； 就是七次，灾祸也无法害你。He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
20在饥荒中，他必救你脱离死亡； 在战争中，他必救你脱离刀剑的权势。In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
21你必被隐藏，不受口舌之害； 灾害临到，你也不惧怕。Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22对于灾害饥馑，你必讥笑； 至于地上的野兽，你也不惧怕。At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
23因为你必与田间的石头立约， 田里的野兽也必与你和好。For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
24你必知道你的帐棚平安， 你查看你的羊圈，一无所失。And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
25你也必知道你的后裔众多， 你的子孙像地上的青草。Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
26你必寿高年迈才归坟墓， 好像禾捆按时收藏。Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
27看哪，这道理我们已经考察，本是如此。 你须要听，要亲自明白。”Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
But Job answered and said,
2“惟愿我的烦恼被秤一秤， 我一切的灾害放在天平里，Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!
3现今都比海沙更重， 所以我说话急躁。For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.
4因全能者的箭射中了我， 我的灵喝尽其毒； 神的惊吓摆阵攻击我。For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.
5野驴有草岂会叫唤？ 牛有饲料岂会吼叫？Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?
6食物淡而无盐岂可吃呢？ 蛋白有什么滋味呢？Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
7那些可厌的食物， 我心不肯挨近。The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.
8“惟愿我得着所求的， 神赏赐我所切望的，Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
9愿神把我压碎， 伸手将我剪除。Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
10我因没有违弃那圣者的言语， 就仍以此为安慰， 在不止息的痛苦中还可欢跃。Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.
11我有什么气力使我等候？ 我有什么结局使我忍耐？What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?
12我的气力岂是石头的气力？ 我的肉身岂是铜呢？Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
13在我里面岂不是无助吗？ 智慧岂不是从我心中被赶逐吗？Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?
14“灰心的人，他的朋友当以慈爱待他， 因为他将离弃敬畏全能者的心。To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
15我的弟兄诡诈，好像河道， 像溪水流过的河床，My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
16因结冰而混浊， 有雪藏在其中，Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:
17暖和的时候就溶化， 炎热时便从原处干涸。What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
18商队偏离道路， 上到荒凉之地而死亡。The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
19提玛的商队瞻望， 示巴的旅客等候。The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.
20他们因希望落空就抱愧， 来到那里便蒙羞。They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.
21现在你们正是这样☛“你们正是这样”：原文另译“你们算不得什么”。， 看见惊吓的事就惧怕。For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
22我岂说：‘请你们供给我， 从你们的财物中送礼给我’？Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
23或说：‘请你们拯救我脱离敌人的手， 救赎我脱离残暴人的手’吗？Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
24“请你们指教我，我就不作声； 我在何事上有错，请使我明白。Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
25正直言语的力量何其大！ 但你们责备是责备什么呢？How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?
26绝望人的讲论既然如风， 你们还计划批驳言语吗？Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?
27你们甚至为孤儿抽签， 把朋友当货物。Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.
28“现在，请你们看着我， 我绝不当面说谎。Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.
29请你们转意，不要不公义； 请再转意，正义在我这里。Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.
30我的舌头岂有不公义吗？ 我的上膛岂不辨奸恶吗？”Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?
2像奴仆切慕阴凉， 像雇工等待工钱，As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:
3我也照样度过虚空的岁月， 愁烦的夜晚指定给我。So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.
4我躺卧的时候就说： ‘我何时可以起来呢？’漫漫长夜， 我总是翻来覆去，直到天亮。When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day.
5我的肉体以虫子和尘土为衣， 我的皮肤才收了口又流脓。My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome.
6我的日子比织布的梭更快， 都消耗在没有指望之中。My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope.
7“你要记得，我的生命不过是一口气， 我的眼睛必不再看见福乐。O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.
8观看我的人，他的眼必不看见我； 你的眼目投向我，我却不在了。The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: thine eyes are upon me, and I am not.
9云彩消散而去； 照样，人下阴间也不再上来。As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more.
10他不再回自己的家， 他自己的地方也不再认得他。He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.
11“我甚至不封我的口； 我灵愁苦，要发出言语； 我心苦恼，要吐露哀情。Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.
12我岂是海洋，岂是大鱼， 你竟防守着我呢？Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me?
13我若说：‘我的床必安慰我， 我的榻必分担我的苦情’，When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaint;
14你就用梦惊扰我， 用异象恐吓我。Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions:
15甚至我宁可窒息死亡， 胜似留我这副骨头。So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life.
16我厌弃生命，不愿永远活着。 你任凭我吧，因我的日子都是虚空。I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity.
17人算什么，你竟看他为大， 将他放在心上，What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?
18每早晨鉴察他， 每时刻考验他？And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?
19你到何时才转眼不看我， 任凭我咽下唾沫呢？How long wilt thou not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?
20鉴察人的主啊，我若有罪，于你何妨？ 为何以我当你的箭靶， 使我成为你的重担呢？I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?
21为何不赦免我的过犯， 除掉我的罪孽呢？ 我现今要躺卧在尘土中； 你要切切寻找我，我却不在了。”And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2“这些话你要说到几时？ 你口中的言语如狂风要到几时呢？How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
3神岂能偏离公平？ 全能者岂能偏离公义？Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
4或者你的儿女得罪了他， 他就把他们交在过犯的掌控中。If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;
5你若切切寻求神， 向全能者恳求；If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
6你若纯洁正直， 他必定为你兴起， 使你公义的居所兴旺。If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
7你起初虽然微小， 日后必非常强盛。Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.
8“请你询问上代， 思念他们祖先所查究的。For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
9我们不过从昨日才有，一无所知， 因我们在世的日子好像影子。(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)
10他们岂不指教你，告诉你， 说出发自内心的言语呢？Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
11“蒲草没有泥岂能生长？ 芦荻没有水岂能长大？Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
12它还青翠，没有割下的时候， 比百样的草先枯槁。Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.
13凡忘记神的人，路途也是这样； 不虔敬人的指望要灭没。So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:
14他所仰赖的必折断， 他所倚靠的是蜘蛛网。Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.
15他要倚靠房屋，房屋却站立不住； 他要抓住房屋，房屋却不能存留。He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.
16他在日光之下茂盛， 嫩枝在园中蔓延；He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
17他的根盘绕石堆， 钻入石缝☛“钻入石缝”：原文是“看见石屋”。。His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.
18他若从本地被拔出， 那地就不认识他，说：‘我没有见过你。’If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.
19看哪，这就是他道路中的喜乐， 以后必另有人从尘土而生。Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
20看哪，神必不丢弃完全人， 也不扶助邪恶人的手。Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:
21他还要以喜笑充满你的口， 以欢呼充满你的嘴唇。Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.
22恨恶你的要披戴羞愧， 恶人的帐棚必归于无有。”They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
Then Job answered and said,
2“我真的知道是这样， 但人在神前怎能成为义呢？I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
3人若想要与他争辩， 千次中也不能回答一次。If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
4他心里有智慧，且大有能力。 谁向神刚硬而得平安呢？He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
5他把山挪移，山却不知， 他在怒气中，把山翻倒。Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
6他使地震动，离其本位， 地的柱子就摇撼。Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
7他吩咐太阳，太阳就不出来， 又封住众星。Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
8他独自铺张诸天， 步行在海浪之上。Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
9他造北斗、参星、昴星， 以及南方的星宿☛“南方的星宿”：原文是“南方的内宫”。；Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
10他行大事不可测度， 行奇事不可胜数。Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
11看哪，他从我旁边经过，我看不见； 他走过，我没有察觉他。Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
12看哪，他夺去，谁能阻挡他？ 谁敢对他说：‘你做什么呢？’Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
13“神必不收回他的怒气， 扶助拉哈伯☛“拉哈伯”是神话故事中的大海怪。的，屈身在神以下。If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
14既是这样，我怎敢回答他， 怎敢在他之前选择辩词呢？How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?
15我虽有义，也不能回答， 我要向那审判我的恳求。Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
16我若呼求，纵然他应允我， 我仍不信他会侧耳听我的声音。If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
17他用暴风☛“用暴风”：原文另译“为一根头发”。摧折我， 无故加增我的损伤。For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
18他不容我喘一口气， 倒使我饱受苦恼。He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
19若论力量，看哪，他真有能力！ 若论审判，‘谁能传我呢？’If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?
20我虽有义，我的口要定我有罪； 我虽完全，他必证明我为弯曲。If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
21我虽完全，不顾自己； 我厌弃我的性命。Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
22所以我说，都是一样； 完全人和恶人，他都灭绝。This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
23若灾祸忽然带来死亡， 他必戏笑无辜人的苦难。If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
24世界交在恶人手中； 他蒙蔽世界审判官的脸， 若不是他，那么是谁呢？The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
25“我的日子比奔跑者更快， 急速过去，不见福乐。Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
26我的日子如蒲草船掠过， 如鹰俯冲抓食。They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.
27我若说：‘我要忘记我的苦情， 强颜欢笑’，If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:
28我就因一切的愁苦而惧怕； 我知道你必不以我为无辜。I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
29我必被定罪， 我何必徒然劳苦呢？If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
30我若用雪水洗身， 用碱洁净我的手掌，If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
31你还要把我扔在坑里， 我的衣服都憎恶我。Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
32他不像我是个人，使我可以回答他， 使我们可以一同受审判。For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.
33我们中间没有仲裁者， 可以按手在我们两造之间。Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.
34愿他使他的杖离开我， 不使他的威严恐吓我，Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
35我就说话，不惧怕他； 但对我来说，我却不是这样。”Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
2我对神说，不要定我有罪， 要指示我，你为何与我争辩？I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.
3你手所造的，你又欺压，又藐视， 却光照恶人的计谋。 这事你以为美吗？Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?
4你的眼岂是肉眼？ 你察看岂像人察看吗？Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?
5你的日子岂像人的日子， 你的年岁岂像壮士的年岁，Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man's days,
6你就追问我的罪孽， 寻察我的罪过吗？That thou enquirest after mine iniquity, and searchest after my sin?
7其实，你知道我没有行恶， 也无人能施行拯救，脱离你的手。Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.
8你的手塑造我，造了我， 但我整个人却要一起被你吞灭。Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.
9求你记得，你制造我如泥土， 你还要使我归回尘土吗？Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?
10你不是倒出我来好像奶， 使我凝结如同奶酪吗？Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?
11你以皮和肉给我穿上， 用骨与筋把我联结起来。Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.
12你将生命和慈爱赐给我， 你也眷顾保全我的灵。Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.
13然而，你把这些事藏在你心里， 我知道这是你的旨意。And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.
14我若犯罪，你就察看我， 并不赦免我的罪。If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity.
15我若行恶，我就有祸了； 我若行义，也不敢抬头， 而是饱受羞辱， 看见我的痛苦。If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;
16你如狮子昂首追捕我☛“你如...追捕我”：有古译本是“我若昂首自得，你就追捕我如狮子”。， 又在我身上显出奇事。For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest thyself marvellous upon me.
17你更新你的见证对付我， 向我加增恼怒， 调遣军队攻击我。Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and increasest thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me.
18“你为何使我出母胎呢？ 甚愿我当时气绝，没有眼睛看见我。Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!
19这样，就如从未有过我， 我一出母胎就被送入坟墓。I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.
20我的日子不是短少吗？求你停止， 求你放过我☛“求你停止，求你放过我”：原文另译“愿他停止，愿他放过我”。，使我可以稍得喜乐，Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,
21就是在我去而不返， 往黑暗和死荫之地以先。Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;
22那是乌黑之地， 犹如幽暗的死荫， 毫无秩序； 发出的光辉也像幽暗。”A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
2“这许多的话岂不该回答吗？ 多嘴多舌的人岂可成为义呢？Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?
3你夸大的话岂能使人不作声吗？ 你戏笑的时候岂没有人使你受辱吗？Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?
4你说：‘我的教导纯全， 我在你眼前是清洁的。’For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
5但是，惟愿神说话， 愿他张开嘴唇攻击你。But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
6愿他将智慧的奥秘指示你， 因为健全的知识是两面的。 你当知道，神使你忘记你的一些罪孽。And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
7你能寻见神的奥秘吗？ 你能寻见全能者的极限吗？Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?
8高如诸天，你能做什么？ 比阴间深，你能知道什么？It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?
9其量度比地长， 比海更宽。The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
10他若经过，把人拘禁， 召集会众，谁能阻挡他呢？If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?
11因为他知道虚妄的人； 当他看见罪恶，岂不留意吗？For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?
12空虚的人若获得知识， 野驴生下的驹子也成了人。For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.
13“至于你，若坚固己心， 又向主举手；If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;
14你若远远脱离你手中的罪孽， 不容许不义住在你帐棚之中；If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
15这样，你必仰起脸来，毫无瑕疵； 你也必安稳，无所惧怕。For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:
16你必忘记你的苦楚， 就是想起来，也如流过的水。Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
17你在世要升高，比正午更明， 虽有黑暗，仍像早晨。And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday: thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
18你因有指望就必稳固， 也必四围察看☛“四围察看”：原文另译“得到庇护”。，安然躺下。And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
19你躺卧，无人惊吓， 并有许多人向你求恩。Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
20但恶人的眼睛要失明； 他们无路可逃， 他们的指望就是气绝身亡。”But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
And Job answered and said,
2“你们果真是人物啊！ 智慧要与你们一同去死。No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
3但我也有聪明，跟你们一样， 并非不及你们。 这些事，谁不知道呢？But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
4我这求告神、蒙他应允的人 竟成了朋友所讥笑的； 又公义又完全的人竟遭受讥笑。I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.
5安逸的人心里藐视灾祸， 这灾祸在等待失足滑跌的人。He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
6强盗的帐棚安宁， 惹神发怒的人稳固， 他们把神☛“神”或译“神明”。握在自己手中☛“他们把神握在自己手中”或译“神把他们领到自己的手中”。。The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.
7“你问走兽，走兽必指教你； 你问空中的飞鸟，飞鸟必告诉你；But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
8或者你与地说话，地必指教你☛“你与...指教你”或译“你问地上的草木，草木必指教你”。； 海中的鱼也必向你说明。Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
9在这一切当中， 有谁不知道这是耶和华的手做成的呢？Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
10凡动物的生命 和人类的气息都在他手中。In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
11耳朵岂不辨别言语， 正如上膛品尝食物吗？Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?
12年老的有智慧， 寿高的有知识。With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
13“在神有智慧和能力， 他有谋略和知识。With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
14看哪，他拆毁，就不能重建； 他拘禁人，人就不得释放。Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
15看哪，他使水止住，水就干了； 他把水放出，水就淹没大地。Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
16在他有能力和智慧， 走迷的和使人迷路的都属他。With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.
17他把谋士剥衣掳去， 使审判官变为愚妄。He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.
18他解除君王的权势☛“他解除君王的权势”：原文另译“他放松君王的捆绑”；“权势”与“捆绑”的希伯来话发音相近。， 用带子捆住他们的腰。He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
19他把祭司剥衣掳去， 使有权能的人倾覆。He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.
20他废去忠信者的言论， 夺去长者的见识。He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.
21他使贵族蒙羞受辱， 放松勇士的腰带。He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.
22他从黑暗中彰显深奥的事， 使死荫显出光明。He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
23他使邦国兴旺而又毁灭， 使邦国扩展又被掠夺。He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.
24他将地上百姓中领袖的聪明夺去， 使他们迷失在荒凉无路之地。He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
25他们在无光的黑暗中摸索； 他使他们摇晃像醉酒的人一样。”They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.
2你们所知道的，我也知道， 并非不及你们。What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.
3然而我要对全能者说话， 我愿与神理论。Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
4但你们是编造谎言的， 全都是无用的医生。But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.
5惟愿你们全然不作声， 这就是你们的智慧！O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.
6请你们听我的答辩， 留心听我嘴唇的诉求。Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
7你们要为神说不义的话吗？ 要为他说诡诈的言语吗？Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?
8你们要看神的情面吗？ 要为他争辩吗？Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
9他查究你们，这岂是好事吗？ 人欺骗人，你们也要照样欺骗他吗？Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?
10你们若暗中看人的情面， 他必定要责备你们。He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
11他的尊荣岂不叫你们惧怕吗？ 他岂不使惊吓临到你们吗？Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?
12你们可记念的谚语是灰烬的箴言； 你们的后盾是泥土的后盾。Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.
13“你们不要向我作声， 让我说话，无论如何我都承当。Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.
14我为何把我的肉挂在我的牙上， 将我的命放在我的手掌中呢？Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?
15看哪，他要杀我，我毫无指望☛“我毫无指望”：原文另译“我仍要仰望他”。， 然而我还要在他面前辩明我所行的。Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
16这要成为我的拯救， 因为不虔诚的人不可到他面前。He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
17你们要细听我的言语， 让我的申辩入你们耳中。Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
18看哪，我已陈明我的案， 知道自己有义。Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.
19还有谁要和我争辩， 我现在就缄默不言，气绝而死。Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.
20惟有两件事不要向我施行， 我就不躲开你的面：Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
21就是把你的手缩回，远离我身； 又不使你的威严恐吓我。Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.
22这样，你呼叫，我就回答； 或是让我说话，你回答我。Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
23我的罪孽和我的罪有多少呢？ 求你叫我知道我的过犯与我的罪。How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
24你为何转脸， 拿我当仇敌呢？Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?
25你要惊动被风吹的叶子吗？ 要追赶枯干的碎秸吗？Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
26你写下苦楚对付我， 又使我担当幼年的罪孽。For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.
27你把我的脚锁上木枷， 察看我一切的道路， 为我的脚掌划定界限。Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
28人像灭绝的烂物， 像虫蛀的衣裳。”And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
2他出来如花，凋谢而去； 他飞逝如影，不能存留。He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
3这样的人你岂会睁眼看他， 又叫我☛“我”：七十士译本和其他古译本是“他”。来，在你那里受审吗？And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
4谁能使洁净出于污秽呢？ 谁也不能！Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
5既然人的日子限定， 他的月数在于你， 你划定他的界限，他不能越过；Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
6求你转眼不看他，使他得歇息， 直到他像雇工享受他的一天。Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
7“因树有指望， 若被砍下，还可发芽， 嫩枝生长不息。For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
8树根若衰老在地里， 树干也死在土中，Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
9及至得了水气，还会发芽， 长出枝条，像新栽的树一样。Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
10但壮士一死就消逝了； 人一气绝，他在何处呢？But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
11海中的水枯竭， 江河消散干涸。As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
12人一躺下就不再起来， 等到诸天没有了☛“没有了”：有古译本是“废去了”。，仍不复醒， 也不能从睡中唤醒。So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
13惟愿你把我藏在阴间， 把我隐藏，直到你的愤怒过去； 愿你为我定下期限，并记得我。O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
14壮士若死了能再活吗？ 我在一切服役的日子中等待， 直到我退伍的时候来到。If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
15你呼叫，我就回答你； 你手所做的，你必期待。Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
16但如今你数点我的脚步， 不察看我的罪。For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
17我的过犯被你密封在囊中， 你遮掩了我的罪孽。My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
18“然而，山崩变为无有， 磐石从原处挪移。And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
19流水冲蚀石头， 急流洗去地上的尘土； 你也照样灭绝人的指望。The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
20你终必胜过人，使他消逝； 你改变他的容貌，把他送走。Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
21他的儿子得尊荣，他不知道； 他们降为卑，他也不晓得。His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
22他只觉得身上疼痛， 心中为自己悲哀。”But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
第二次对话
（15．1－21．34）
提幔人以利法回答说：Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
2“智慧人岂可用虚空的知识回答， 用东风充满自己的肚腹呢？Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
3他岂可用无益的话， 用无济于事的言语理论呢？Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
4你诚然废弃敬畏， 不在神面前默想。Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
5你的罪孽指教你的口； 你选用诡诈人的舌头。For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
6你自己的口定你有罪，并非是我； 你自己的嘴唇见证你的不是。Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
7“你是头一个生下来的人吗？ 你受造在诸山之先吗？Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
8你曾听见神的密旨吗？ 你要独自得尽智慧吗？Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
9什么是你知道，我们不知道的呢？ 什么是你明白，我们不明白的呢？What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
10我们这里有白发的和年老的， 比你父亲还年长。With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
11神的安慰和对你温和的话， 你以为太小吗？Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
12你的心为何失控， 你的眼为何冒火，Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
13以致你的灵反对神， 你的口说出这样的言语呢？That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
14人是什么，竟算为洁净呢？ 妇人所生的是什么，竟算为义呢？What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
15看哪，神不信任他的众圣者； 在他眼前，天也不洁净，Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
16何况那污秽可憎， 喝罪孽如水的世人呢！How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
17“我指示你，你要听我； 我要陈述我所看见的，I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
18就是智慧人从列祖所受， 传讲而不隐瞒的事。Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:
19这地惟独赐给他们， 并没有外人从他们中间经过。Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
20恶人一生的日子绞痛难熬， 残暴人存留的年数也是如此。The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
21惊吓的声音常在他耳中； 在平安时，毁灭者必临到他。A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
22他不信自己能从黑暗中转回； 他被刀剑看守。He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
23他飘流在外求食：‘哪里有食物呢？’☛“他飘流...有食物呢？”有古译本是“他被命定作秃鹰的食物。” 他知道黑暗的日子在他手边预备好了。☛本节七十士译本是“他被派定作秃鹰的食物，知道自己会成为尸体，黑暗的日子要像风把他吹走。”He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
24急难困苦叫他害怕， 而且胜过他，好像君王预备上阵。Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
25因他伸手攻击神， 逞强对抗全能者，For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
26挺着颈项， 用盾牌坚厚的凸面向全能者直闯；He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
27又因他的脸蒙上油脂， 腰上积满肥肉。Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
28他住在荒凉的城镇， 房屋无人居住， 成为废墟。And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
29他不得富足， 财物不得常存， 产业在地上也不加增。He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
30他不得脱离黑暗， 火焰要把他的嫩枝烧干； 因神口中的气，他要离去。He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
31不要让他倚靠虚假，欺骗自己， 因虚假必成为他的报应。Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
32他的日期未到之先，这事必实现； 他的枝子不得青绿。It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
33他必像葡萄树，葡萄未熟就掉落； 又像橄榄树，一开花就凋谢。He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
34因不敬虔之辈必不能生育， 受贿赂之人的帐棚必被火吞灭。For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
35他们所怀的是毒害，所生的是罪孽， 肚腹里所预备的是诡诈。”They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
Then Job answered and said,
2“这样的话我听了许多； 你们全都是使人愁烦的安慰者。I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.
3如风的言语有穷尽吗？ 或者什么惹动你回答呢？Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?
4我也能说你们那样的话， 你们若处在我的景况， 我也可以堆砌言词攻击你们， 又可以向你们摇头。I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.
5但我必用口坚固你们， 颤动的嘴唇带来舒解。But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.
6“我若说话，痛苦仍不得缓解； 我若停止，痛苦就离开我吗？Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?
7但现在神使我困倦， 你使所有的亲友远离我，But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.
8你抓住我☛“你抓住我”或译“你使我布满皱纹”。，成为见证起来攻击我； 我的枯瘦也当着我的面作证。And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.
9神发怒撕裂我，逼迫我， 向我咬牙切齿； 我的敌人怒目瞪我。He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
10他们向我大大张口， 打我的耳光羞辱我， 聚在一起攻击我。They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.
11神把我交给不敬虔的人， 把我扔到恶人的手中。God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.
12我本是安逸，他折断我， 掐住我的颈项，把我摔碎， 又立我作他的箭靶。I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.
13他的弓箭手围绕我。 他刺破我的肾脏，并不留情， 把我的胆汁倾倒在地上。His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.
14他使我破裂，破裂又破裂， 如同勇士向我直闯。He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.
15“我把麻布缝在我的皮肤上， 把我的角放在尘土中。I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.
16我的脸因哭泣变红， 我的眼皮上有死荫。My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;
17我的手中却没有暴力， 我的祈祷也是纯洁的。Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.
18“地啊，不要遮盖我的血！ 不要让我的哀求有藏匿之处！O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.
19现今，看哪，在天有我的见证， 在上有我的保人。Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.
20我的朋友讥诮我， 我却向神眼泪汪汪。My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.
21愿人可与神理论， 如同人与朋友一样；O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!
22因为再过几年， 我必走那往而不返之路。”When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.
My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.
2戏笑的人果真陪伴着我， 我的眼睛盯住他们的悖逆。Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?
3“愿你亲自为我付押担保。 谁还会与我击掌呢？Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?
4因你蒙蔽他们的心，使不明理， 所以你必不高举他们。For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.
5控告☛“控告”或译“出卖”或“邀请”。朋友为了分享产业的， 他儿女的眼睛要失明。He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
6“神使我成为人群中的笑谈， 他们吐唾沫在我脸上。He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.
7我的眼睛因忧愁昏花， 我的肢体全像影儿。Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
8正直人因此必惊奇； 无辜的人要兴起攻击不敬虔之辈。Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
9然而，义人要持守所行的道， 手洁的人要力上加力。The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
10至于你们众人，再回来吧！ 你们中间，我找不到一个智慧人。But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.
11我的日子已经过去了， 我的谋算、我心的愿望已经断绝了。My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
12他们以黑夜为白昼， 即使面临黑暗，以为亮光已近。They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
13我若盼望阴间为我的家， 若下榻在黑暗中，If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.
14若对地府呼叫：‘你是我的父亲’， 若对虫呼叫：‘你是我的母亲、姊妹’，I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.
15这样，我的盼望在哪里呢？ 我所盼望的，谁能看见呢？And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?
16这盼望要下到阴间的门闩吗☛“这盼望...门闩吗”：七十士译本是“这盼望要与我一起下到阴间吗”。？ 要一起在尘土中安息吗☛“要一起...安息吗”：七十士译本和其他古译本是“我们要一起下入尘土中吗”。？”They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2“你们寻索言语要到几时呢☛“你们...几时呢”：原文直译“你们为言语设陷阱要到几时呢”；七十士译本和其他古译本是“你要说到几时才停止呢”。？ 你们要明白，然后我们才说话。How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.
3我们为何被视为畜牲， 在你们眼中看为愚笨☛“愚笨”或译“不洁净”。呢？Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?
4在怒气中将自己撕裂的人哪， 难道大地要因你见弃、 磐石要挪开原处吗？He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?
5“恶人的亮光必要熄灭， 他的火焰必不照耀。Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
6他帐棚中的亮光要变黑暗， 他上面的灯也必熄灭。The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.
7他强横的脚步必遭阻碍， 他的计谋必将自己绊倒。The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
8他因自己的脚陷入网中， 走在缠人的网子上。For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.
9罗网必抓住他的脚跟， 陷阱必擒获他。The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.
10绳索为他藏在土里， 羁绊为他藏在路上。The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
11四面的惊吓使他害怕， 在他脚跟后面追赶他。Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.
12他的力量必因饥饿衰败， 祸患要在他的旁边等候，His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.
13侵蚀他肢体的皮肤； 死亡的长子吞吃他的肢体。It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.
14他要从所倚靠的帐棚被拔出来， 带到使人惊恐的王那里。His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.
15不属他的必住在他的帐棚里， 硫磺必撒在他所住之处。It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
16下边，他的根要枯干； 上边，他的枝子要剪除。His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.
17他的称号☛“称号”：原文是“纪念”。从地上消失， 他的名字不在街上存留。His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.
18他必从光明中被驱逐到黑暗里， 他必被赶出世界。He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
19他在自己百姓中必无子无孙， 在寄居之地也没有幸存者。He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.
20以后的人☛“以后的人”或译“西方人”。要因他的日子惊讶， 以前的人☛“以前的人”或译“东方人”。也被惊骇抓住。They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.
21不义之人的住处总是这样， 这就是不认识神之人的下场。”Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
Then Job answered and said,
2“你们搅扰我的心， 用言语压碎我要到几时呢？How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
3你们这十次羞辱我， 苦待我也不以为耻。These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
4果真我有错， 这错是在于我。And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
5若你们真要向我夸大， 以我的羞辱来责备我，If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
6就该知道是神倾覆我， 用罗网围绕我。Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
7看哪，我喊冤叫屈，却不蒙应允； 我呼求，却没有公正。Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
8神拦住我的道路，使我不得经过； 他使黑暗笼罩我的路径。He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
9他剥去我的荣光， 摘去我头上的冠冕。He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
10他在四围攻击我，我就走了； 他将我的指望如树拔出。He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
11他向我发烈怒， 以我为他的敌人。He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
12他的军队一齐上来， 修筑道路攻击我， 在我帐棚的四围安营。His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
13“他把我的兄弟隔在远处， 使我认识的人全然与我生疏。He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
14我的亲戚都离开了我； 我的密友都忘记了我。My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
15在我家寄居的和我的使女， 都当我是陌生人； 我在他们眼中被视为外邦人。They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
16我呼唤仆人，他却不回答； 我必须亲口求他。I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
17我口的气味令我妻子厌恶， 我的同胞都憎恶我。My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.
18连小男孩也藐视我； 我起来，他们都嘲笑我。Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
19我的知心朋友都憎恶我； 我平日所爱的人向我翻脸。All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
20我的皮和肉紧贴骨头， 我得以逃脱，仅剩牙齿☛“牙齿”：原文是“牙的皮”。。☛本节七十士译本是“我的肉在皮下腐烂，我的骨头伸出好像牙齿”。My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
21我的朋友啊，可怜我！可怜我！ 因为神的手攻击我。Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
22你们为什么仿佛神逼迫我， 吃我的肉还不满足呢？Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
23“惟愿我的言语现在就写上， 都记录在书上；Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
24用铁笔和铅， 刻在磐石上，存到永远。That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
25我知道我的救赎主☛“救赎主”或译“伸冤者”。活着， 末后他必站在尘土上。For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26我这皮肉灭绝之后☛“我这皮肉灭绝之后”：原文另译“我醒来之后，他会使我跟他一起站起来”。， 我必在肉体之外☛“在肉体之外”或译“在肉体之中”或“从肉体”。得见神。And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
27我自己要见他， 亲眼要看他，并不像陌生人。 我的心肠在我里面耗尽了！Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
28你们若说：‘我们怎么逼迫他呢？ 事情的根源是在于他☛“他”是根据一些古卷、七十士译本和其他古译本；原文是“我”。’，But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
29你们就当惧怕刀剑， 因为愤怒带来刀剑的刑罚。 这样，你们就知道有审判。”Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
2“这样，我的思念叫我回答， 因为我心中急躁。Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste.
3我听见那羞辱我的责备； 我悟性的灵回答我。I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
4你岂不知道吗？亘古以来， 自从人被安置在地，Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
5恶人欢乐的声音是暂时的， 不敬虔人的喜乐不过是转眼之间。That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?
6他的尊荣虽达到天上， 头虽顶到云中，Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
7他必永远灭亡，像自己的粪一样。 看见他的人要说：‘他在哪里呢？’Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
8他必如梦飞去，不再寻见； 他被赶走，如夜间的异象。He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
9亲眼见过他的，必不再见他； 他自己的地方也不再见到他。The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
10他的儿女要向穷人求恩； 他的手要赔还钱财。His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
11他的骨头虽然满有年轻的活力， 却要和他一同躺卧在尘土之中。His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
12“他口中以恶为甘甜， 把恶藏在舌头底下，Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;
13爱恋不舍， 含在口中。Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:
14他的食物在肚里却要翻转， 在他里面成为虺蛇的毒液。Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.
15他吞了财宝，还要吐出； 神要从他腹中掏出来。He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
16他必吸饮虺蛇的毒汁， 毒蛇的舌头必杀他。He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.
17他不再看见溪流， 流奶与蜜之河。He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.
18他劳碌得来的要赔还，不得吞下； 赚取了财货，也不得欢乐。That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein.
19他欺压穷人，弃之不顾， 强取非自己所盖的房屋☛“强取...房屋”或译“强取房屋不得再建造”。。Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;
20“他的肚腹不知安逸， 所贪恋的连一样也不放过，Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
21剩余的没有一样他不吞吃， 所以他的福乐不能长久。There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
22他在满足有余的时候，必有困苦临到； 凡受苦楚之人的手必加在他身上。In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
23他的肚腹正要满足的时候， 神必将猛烈的愤怒降在他身上； 他正在吃饭的时候， 神要将这愤怒如雨降在他身上。When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.
24他要躲避铁的武器， 铜弓要将他射透。He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through.
25箭一抽，就从他背上出来， 发亮的箭头从他胆中出来； 有惊惶临到他身上。It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him.
26他的财宝隐藏在深沉的黑暗里； 有非人吹起的火要把他吞灭， 把他帐棚中所剩下的烧毁。All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
27天要显明他的罪孽， 地要兴起去攻击他。The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
28他家里出产的必消失， 在神愤怒的日子被冲走。The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
29这是恶人从神所得的份， 是神为他所定的产业。”This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
But Job answered and said,
2“你们要细心听我的言语， 这就算是你们的安慰。Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.
3请宽容我，我又要说话； 说了以后，任凭你嗤笑吧！Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.
4我岂是向人诉苦？ 我为何不是没有耐心呢？As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?
5你们要转向我而惊奇， 要用手捂口。Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
6我每逢思想，心就惊惶， 战兢抓住我身。Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.
7恶人为何存活， 得享高寿，势力强盛呢？Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?
8他们的后裔与他们一起☛“与他们一起”：原文另译“他们的百姓”。，坚立在他们面前， 他们得以眼见自己的子孙。Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.
9他们的家宅平安无惧， 神的杖不加在他们身上。Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
10他们的公牛传种而不断绝， 母牛生牛犊而不掉胎。Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
11他们打发小男孩出去，多如羊群， 他们的孩子踊跃跳舞。They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
12他们随着琴鼓歌唱， 因箫声欢喜。They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
13他们度日诸事亨通， 在平安中下到阴间。They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
14他们对神说：‘离开我们吧！ 我们不想知道你的道路。Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
15全能者是谁，我们何必事奉他呢？ 求告他有什么益处呢？’What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?
16看哪，他们亨通不是靠自己的手； 恶人的计谋离我好远。Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
17“恶人的灯何尝熄灭？ 患难何尝临到他们呢？ 神何尝发怒，把灾祸分给他们呢？How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.
18他们何尝像风前的碎秸， 如暴风刮去的糠秕呢？They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.
19神为恶人的儿女积蓄罪孽， 不如本人遭报，好使他亲自知道。God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.
20愿他亲眼看见自己败亡， 亲自饮全能者的愤怒。His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
21他的岁月既尽， 他身后还顾他的家吗？For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?
22谁能将知识教导神呢？ 是他审判那些居高位的。Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.
23有人至死身体强壮， 尽得平顺安逸；One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
24他的肚腹充满奶汁☛“他的肚腹充满奶汁”或译“他的桶子里满了奶”。， 他的骨髓滋润。His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.
25有人至死心中痛苦， 从未尝过福乐的滋味；And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.
26他们同样躺卧于尘土， 虫子覆盖他们。They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.
27“看哪，我知道你们的意念， 并残害我的计谋。Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.
28你们说：‘权贵的房屋在哪里？ 恶人住过的帐棚在哪里？’For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?
29你们没有询问那些过路的人吗？ 你们不承认他们的证据吗？Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,
30就是恶人在患难的日子得存留， 在愤怒的日子得逃脱。That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
31他所行的，有谁当面给他说明？ 他所做的，有谁报应他呢？Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?
32然而他要被抬到坟地， 并有人看守墓穴。Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.
33他要以谷中的土块为甘甜； 人人要跟在他后面， 在他前面去的无数。The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.
34你们怎能以空话安慰我呢？ 你们的对答全都错谬！”How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?
第三次对话
（22．1－27．23）
提幔人以利法回答说：Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2“人能使神有益吗？ 智慧人能使他有益吗？☛“智慧人...有益吗？”或译“智慧人但能有益于己。”Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
3你为人公义，岂能叫全能者喜悦呢？ 你行为完全，岂能使他得利呢？Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?
4他岂是因你敬畏的心就责备你， 审判你吗？Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?
5你的罪恶岂不是大吗？ 你的罪孽不是没有穷尽吗？Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?
6因你无故强取弟兄的抵押， 剥去赤身者的衣服。For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
7疲乏的人，你没有给他水喝； 饥饿的人，你没有给他食物。Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
8有能力的人得土地； 尊贵的人住在其中。But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.
9你打发寡妇空手回去， 你折断孤儿的膀臂。Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
10因此，有罗网环绕你， 有恐惧忽然使你惊惶；Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;
11或有黑暗使你看不见☛“或有...看不见”：七十士译本是“你的光变成黑暗”。， 有洪水淹没你。Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.
12“神岂不是在高天吗？ 你看星宿的顶点何其高呢！Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
13你说：‘神知道什么？ 他岂能透过幽暗施行审判呢？And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?
14密云将他遮盖，使他不能看见； 他周游穹苍。’Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
15你要依从上古的道吗？ 这道是恶人行过的。Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?
16他们未到时候就被抓去☛“就被抓去”或译“布满皱纹”。； 他们的根基被江河冲去。Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:
17他们向神说：‘离开我们吧！’ 全能者能把他们怎么样呢？Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?
18然而，是神以美物充满他们的房屋； 恶人的计谋离我好远！Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
19义人看见他们的结局☛原文没有“他们的结局”。就欢喜； 无辜的人嗤笑他们：The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.
20‘攻击我们的果然被剪除， 剩余的都被火吞灭。’Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.
21“你要与神和好，要和平， 这样，福气必临到你。Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
22你当领受他口中的教导， 将他的言语存在心里。Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
23你若归向全能者，就必得建立。 你要从你帐棚中远离不义，If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
24你要将黄金丢到尘土里， 将俄斐的金子丢在溪河石头之间；Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.
25全能者就必作你的黄金， 作你成堆的银子。Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.
26那时，你要以全能者为喜乐， 向神仰脸。For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
27你要向他祷告，他就听你； 你也要还你的愿。Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
28你定意要做何事，必然为你成就； 亮光也必照耀你的路。Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
29当人降卑，你说：是因骄傲； 眼目谦卑的人，神必然拯救。When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.
30不是无辜的人，神尚且要搭救他☛“不是无辜的人...搭救他”：七十士译本是“神搭救无辜的人”。； 他必因你手中的清洁得蒙拯救。”He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.
Then Job answered and said,
2“如今我的哀告还算为悖逆； 我虽唉哼，他的手仍然重重责罚我☛“他的手...责罚我”是根据七十士译本和其他古译本；原文是“我的手是重的”。。Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.
3惟愿我知道哪里可以寻见神， 能到他的台前，Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!
4我就在他面前陈明我的案件， 满口辩诉。I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
5我必知道他回答我的言语， 明白他向我所要说的。I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.
6他岂用大能与我争辩呢？ 不！他必理会我。Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.
7在那里正直人可以与他辩论， 我就必永远脱离那审判我的。There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.
8“看哪，我往前走，他不在那里； 往后退，也没有察觉他。Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:
9他在左边行事，我却看不见他； 他转向右边☛“他转向右边”或译“他在右边隐藏”。，我也见不到他。On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:
10然而他知道我所走的路； 他试炼我，我就如纯金。But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
11我的脚紧跟他的步伐； 我谨守他的道，并不偏离。My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
12他嘴唇的命令，我未曾背弃； 我看重他口中的言语，过于我需用的饮食☛“我需用的饮食”或译“我的原则”。。☛“我看重...饮食。”七十士译本是“我把他的言语珍藏在我胸怀。”Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
13只是他心志已定，谁能使他转意呢？ 他心里所愿的，就行出来。But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.
14因此，为我所定的，他必做成， 这类的事他还有许多。For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.
15所以我在他面前惊惶； 我思想就惧怕他。Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.
16神使我丧胆， 全能者使我惊惶。For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:
17但我并非被黑暗剪除， 只是幽暗遮盖了我的脸。Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?
2有人挪移地界， 抢夺群畜去放牧。Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof.
3他们拉走孤儿的驴， 强取寡妇的牛作抵押。They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.
4他们使贫穷人离开正道； 世上的困苦人尽都隐藏。They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
5看哪，他们如同野驴出到旷野，殷勤寻找食物， 在野地给孩童糊口。Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children.
6他们收割别人田间的庄稼， 摘取恶人剩余的葡萄。They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.
7他们终夜赤身无衣， 在寒冷中毫无遮盖。They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.
8他们在山上被大雨淋湿， 因没有避身之处就拥抱磐石。They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
9又有人从母怀中抢走孤儿， 在困苦人身上强取抵押品☛“在困苦人身上强取抵押品”：原文另译“强取困苦人的婴孩作抵押”。。They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.
10困苦人赤身无衣，到处流浪， 饿着肚子扛抬禾捆，They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry;
11他们在围墙内榨油， 踹压酒池，自己却口渴。Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
12在城内垂死的人呻吟， 受伤的人哀号； 神却不理会狂妄的事。Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.
13“又有人背弃光明， 不认识光明的道， 不留在光明的路上。They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
14杀人者黎明起来， 杀害困苦人和贫穷人， 夜间又作盗贼。The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.
15奸夫的眼等候黄昏， 说：‘没有眼睛能见我’， 就把脸蒙住。The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.
16盗贼黑夜挖洞； 他们白日躲藏， 并不认识光明。In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.
17他们全都看早晨如死荫， 因为他们熟悉死荫的惊骇。For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death.
18“恶人在水面上快速飘荡， 他们在地上所得的产业被诅咒； 无人再回到他们的葡萄园。He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.
19干旱炎热融化雪水； 阴间也如此吞没犯罪的人。Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned.
20怀他的母胎忘记他； 虫子要吃他，觉得甘甜； 他不再被人记念； 不义的人必如树折断。The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.
21“他与不怀孕不生育的妇人交往☛“他与...交往”：七十士译本和其他古译本是“他恶待不怀孕的妇人”。， 却不善待寡妇。He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.
22然而神用能力保全有势力的人； 那性命难保的人仍然兴起。He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.
23神使他安稳，他就有所倚靠； 神的眼目看顾他们的道路。Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.
24他们高升，不过片刻就没有了； 他们降为卑，被除灭，与众人一样☛“他们降为卑...一样”或译“他们像花一样枯干凋谢”。， 又如谷的穗子被割下。They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
25若不是这样，谁能指证我是说谎的， 以我的言语为毫无根据呢？”And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2“神有统治之权，威严可畏； 他在高处施行和平。Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places.
3他的军队岂能数算？ 他的光向谁不会升起呢☛“他的光...升起呢”：七十士译本是“他向谁不会埋伏呢”。？Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise?
4这样，在神面前人怎能称义？ 妇人所生的怎能洁净？How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
5看哪，在神眼前，月亮无光， 星宿也不皎洁，Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.
6更何况是如虫的人， 如蛆的世人呢！How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?
But Job answered and said,
2“无能的人蒙你何等的帮助！ 膀臂无力的人蒙你何等的拯救！How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?
3无智慧的人蒙你何等的指教！ 你向他显出丰富的知识。How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?
4你向谁发出言语？ 谁的灵从你而出？To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?
5在大水和水族以下， 阴魂战兢。Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.
6在神面前，阴间显露； 冥府☛“冥府”：原文音译“亚巴顿”，意思是“灭亡之地”。也不得遮掩。Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.
7神将北极铺在空中， 将大地悬在虚空。He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
8他将水包在密云中， 盛水的云却不破裂。He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
9他遮蔽宝座的正面， 把他的云彩铺在其上。He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
10他在水面上划一圆圈， 直到光明与黑暗的交界。He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
11天的柱子震动， 因他的斥责惊奇。The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.
12他以能力搅动☛“搅动”或译“平静”。大海， 藉知识打伤拉哈伯。He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.
13他藉自己的灵使天空晴朗； 他的手刺杀爬得快的蛇。By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
14看哪，这不过是神工作的些微； 我们听见他的话，是何等细微的声音！ 他大能的雷声谁能明白呢？”Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?
Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
2“我指着夺去我公道的永生神， 并使我心中愁苦的全能者起誓：As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul;
3只要我的生命尚在我里面， 神所赐的气息仍在我鼻孔内，All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;
4我的唇绝不说不义， 我的舌也不说诡诈。My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
5我断不以你们为义； 我至死不放弃自己的纯正！God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.
6我持定我的义，并不放松； 在世的日子，我的心不责备我。My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
7“愿我的仇敌如恶人一样； 愿那起来攻击我的，如不义之人一般。Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.
8不敬虔的人有什么指望呢？ 神要剪除他，取他的性命。☛本节或译“不敬虔的人虽然得利，神夺取其命的时候还有什么指望呢？”For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?
9患难临到他， 神岂听他的呼求？Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him?
10他岂以全能者为乐， 随时求告神呢？Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God?
11神手所做的，我要指教你们； 全能者所行的，我也不会隐瞒。I will teach you by the hand of God: that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
12看哪，你们自己也都见过， 为何全变为这样虚妄呢？Behold, all ye yourselves have seen it; why then are ye thus altogether vain?
13“这是神为恶人所定的份， 残暴人从全能者所得的产业：This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
14倘若他的儿女增多，仍被刀所杀； 他的子孙必不得饱食。If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
15他遗留的人必死而埋葬， 他的寡妇也不哀哭。Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.
16他虽积蓄银子如尘沙， 堆积衣服如泥土，Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay;
17他尽管堆积，义人却要穿上， 无辜的人却要分取银子。He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
18他建造房屋如虫做窝， 又如守望者所搭的棚。He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth that the keeper maketh.
19他虽富足躺卧，却不得收殓☛“却不得收殓”：七十士译本和其他古译本是“却不会继续这样”。， 他张开眼睛，就不在了。The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
20惊恐如洪水将他追上， 暴风在夜间将他刮去。Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night.
21东风把他吹去，他就走了； 风将他刮离原地。The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.
22风☛“风”或译“神”；下同。无情地击打他， 他试图逃脱风的手。For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
23风要因他拍掌， 并要发叱声，使他离开原地。”Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
歌颂智慧
“银子有矿； 炼金有场。Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it.
2铁从土里开采， 铜从矿石熔出。Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.
3人探索黑暗的尽头， 查究矿石直到极处， 那是幽暗和死荫；He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.
4他在无人居住之处开凿矿穴， 在无足迹之地被遗忘☛“在无足迹之地被遗忘”或译“过路的人也想不到他们”。， 与人远离，悬空摇摆。The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.
5地出产粮食， 地底翻腾如火。As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire.
6地的石头是蓝宝石之处， 那里还有金沙。The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold.
7鸷鸟不知那条路， 鹰眼也未曾见过。There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen:
8狂傲的野兽未曾踩踏， 猛烈的狮子也未曾经过。The lion's whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.
9“人动手凿开坚石， 翻倒山的根基，He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.
10在磐石中凿出水道， 亲眼看见各样宝物。He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
11他封闭河川不得涓滴☛“他封闭河川不得涓滴”：原文另译“他封闭河川的水源”。， 使隐藏之物显露出来。He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
12“然而，智慧何处可寻？ 聪明之地在哪里？But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
13智慧的价值☛“智慧的价值”：七十士译本是“智慧的道路”。无人能知， 活人之地也无处可寻。Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
14深渊说：‘不在我里面。’ 沧海说：‘不在我这里。’The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.
15智慧不可用黄金换取， 也不能用白银秤她的价值。It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
16俄斐的金子和贵重的红玛瑙， 以及蓝宝石，不足与她比拟；It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
17黄金和玻璃不足与她比较； 纯金的器皿不足兑换她。The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold.
18珊瑚、水晶都不值得提； 智慧的价值胜过宝石☛“宝石”或译“珍珠”。。No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.
19古实的红璧玺不足与她比较； 纯金也不足与她比拟。The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
20“智慧从何处来呢？ 聪明之地在哪里？Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
21她隐藏，远离众生的眼目， 她掩蔽，远离空中的飞鸟。Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
22毁灭和死亡说： ‘我们风闻其名。’Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.
23“神明白智慧的道路， 知道智慧的所在。God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
24因为他鉴察直到地极， 遍观普天之下，For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
25要为风定轻重， 又度量诸水，To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.
26为雨定律例， 为雷电定道路。When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:
27那时他看见智慧，就谈论她， 坚定她，并且查究她。Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out.
28他对人说：‘看哪，敬畏主就是智慧； 远离恶事就是聪明。’”And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
约伯最后的申诉
约伯继续发表他的言论说：Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
2“惟愿我如从前的岁月， 如神保护我的日子。Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
3那时他的灯照在我头上， 我藉他的光行过黑暗。When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
4在我壮年的时候， 神亲密的情谊临到我的帐棚中。As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
5全能者仍与我同在， 我的儿女都环绕我。When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
6我的脚洗在乳酪当中； 磐石为我流出油河。When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
7我出到城门， 在广场安排座位，When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!
8年轻人见我而回避， 老年人起身站立。The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.
9王子都停止说话， 用手捂口；The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
10领袖静默无声， 舌头贴住上膛。The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.
11耳朵听见了，称我有福； 眼睛看见了，就称赞我。When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
12因我拯救了哀求的困苦人 和无人帮助的孤儿。Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.
13将要灭亡的为我祝福， 我使寡妇心中欢呼。The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
14我穿上公义，它遮蔽我； 我的公平如外袍和冠冕。I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
15我作瞎子的眼， 瘸子的脚。I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.
16我作贫穷人的父； 我不认识之人的案件，我也去查明。I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
17我打破不义之人的大牙， 从他牙齿中夺走他所抢的。And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
18我说：‘我要增添我的日子如尘沙， 我必死在自己家中☛“自己家中”：原文是“自己的窝里”。。Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.
19我的根伸展到水边， 露水夜宿我的枝上。My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
20我的荣耀在我身上更新， 我的弓在我手中日新。’My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
21“人听我说话而等候， 为我的教导而静默。Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
22我说话之后，他们就不再说； 我的言语滴在他们身上。After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
23他们等候我如等雨水， 又张口如切慕春雨。And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
24我向他们微笑，他们不敢相信； 他们不使我脸上的光失色。If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
25我为他们选择道路，又坐首位； 我如君王在军队中居住， 又如人安慰哀伤的人。”I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.
2他们的精力既已衰败， 手中的气力于我何益？Yea, whereto might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age was perished?
3他们因穷乏饥饿，没有生气， 在荒废凄凉的幽暗中啃干燥之地。For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste.
4他们在草丛之中采咸草， 罗腾☛“罗腾”是音译，小树名，松类。树的根成为他们的食物。Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots for their meat.
5他们从人群中被赶出， 人追喊他们如贼一般，They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;)
6以致他们住在荒谷， 住在地洞和岩穴中。To dwell in the cliffs of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks.
7他们在草丛中叫唤， 在荆棘下挤成一团。Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together.
8这都是愚顽卑微人的儿女； 他们被鞭打，赶出境外。They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.
9“现在这些人以我为歌曲， 以我为笑谈。And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.
10他们厌恶我，躲避我， 不住地吐唾沫在我脸上。They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face.
11神松开我的弓弦☛“我的弓弦”：原文另译“他的弓弦”。使我受苦， 他们就在我面前脱去辔头。Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me.
12这伙人在我右边起来， 他们推开我的脚， 筑灾难之路攻击我。Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.
13他们毁坏我的道， 加增我的灾害； 他们毋须人帮助。They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.
14他们来，如同闯进大缺口， 在暴风间滚动。They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.
15惊恐倾倒在我身上， 我的尊荣被逐如风； 我的福禄如云飘去。Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud.
16“现在我的心极其悲伤， 困苦的日子将我抓住。And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.
17夜间，我里面的骨头刺痛， 啃着我的没有止息。My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.
18我的外衣因大力扭皱 ☛“我的外衣...扭皱”：七十士译本是“他用大力抓住我的外衣”。， 内衣的领子把我勒住。By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat.
19神把我扔在淤泥之中， 我就像尘土和灰烬一样。He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.
20我呼求你，你不应允我； 我站起来，你只是望着我。I cry unto thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me not.
21你对我变得残忍， 大能的手追逼我。Thou art become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me.
22你把我提到风中，使我乘风而去， 使我消失在烈风之中。Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance.
23我知道你要使我归于死亡， 到那为众生所定的阴宅。For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.
24“然而，人在废墟岂不伸手？ 遇灾难时一定呼救。☛“遇灾难时一定呼救。”原文另译“遇灾难时岂不呼救呢？”或“遇灾难时必得帮助。”Howbeit he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction.
25人遭难的日子，我岂不为他哭泣呢？ 人贫穷的时候，我岂不为他忧愁呢？Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor?
26我仰望福气，灾祸就来到； 我等待光明，黑暗便来临。When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.
27我内心烦扰不安， 困苦的日子临到我身。My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.
28我在阴暗中行走，没有日光☛“我在阴暗中...日光”或译“我变得黝黑并非因日晒”。， 我在会众中站立求救。I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation.
29我与野狗为弟兄， 我跟鸵鸟为同伴。I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.
30我的皮肤变黑脱落， 我的骨头因热烧焦。My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.
31我的琴音变为哀泣； 我的箫声变为哭声。”My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.
I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
2从至上的神所得之分， 从至高全能者所得之业是什么呢？For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?
3岂不是祸患临到不义的， 灾害临到作恶的吗？Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?
4神岂不察看我的道路， 数点我所有的脚步吗？Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?
5“我若与虚谎同行， 我脚若紧跟诡诈，If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;
6愿神用公道的天平秤我， 愿他知道我的纯正。Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.
7我的脚步若偏离正路， 我的心若随从我眼目， 我的手掌若粘有污秽；If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;
8愿我栽种，别人来吃， 我的农作物连根拔出。Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.
9“我心若因妇人受迷惑， 在邻舍的门外等候，If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour's door;
10就愿我妻子给别人推磨， 别人与她同寝。Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.
11因为这是邪恶的事， 审判官裁定的罪孽。For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges.
12这是一场火，直烧到毁灭☛“毁灭”：原文音译“亚巴顿”，意思是“灭亡之地”。， 必拔除我一切的家产。For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.
13“我的仆婢与我争辩， 我若藐视不听他们的冤情，If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;
14神兴起的时候，我怎样行呢？ 他察问的时候，我怎样回答他呢？What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?
15造我在母腹中的，不也是造了他吗？ 在母胎中使我们成形的，岂不是同一位吗？Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?
16“我若不让贫寒人遂其所愿， 或是叫寡妇眼中失望，If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
17或独自吃自己的食物， 孤儿没有吃其中些许；Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;
18从我年轻时，孤儿就与我一同长大，我好像他的父亲， 我从出母腹就扶助寡妇☛“我从出母腹...寡妇”：原文另译“从他出母腹我就扶助他”。；(For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb;)
19我若见人因无衣死亡， 或见贫穷人毫无遮盖；If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
20我若不使他真心为我祝福， 不使他因我羊的毛得暖；If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
21我若举手攻击孤儿， 因为在城门口见有帮助我的；If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:
22情愿我的肩膀从肩胛骨脱落， 我的膀臂从肱骨折断。Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.
23因神降的灾祸使我恐惧☛“因神...使我恐惧”：原文另译“因敬畏神的心临到我”。， 因他的威严，我什么都不能。For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.
24“我若以黄金为我的指望， 对纯金说：你是我的倚靠；If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;
25我若因财物丰裕， 因手多得资财而欢喜；If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;
26我若见太阳发光， 明月运行，If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness;
27心就暗暗被引诱， 口亲吻自己的手；And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:
28这也是审判官裁定的罪孽， 因为我背弃了至上的神。This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.
29“我若见恨我的遇难就欢喜， 见他遭灾就高兴；If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:
30其实我没有容许口犯罪， 以诅咒要他的性命；Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.
31若我帐棚中的人未曾说： ‘谁不以他的肉食吃饱呢？’If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.
32我未曾让旅客在街上过夜， 却开门迎接行路的人；The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller.
33我若像亚当☛“像亚当”或译“向人”。遮掩自己的过犯， 将罪孽藏在怀中；If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:
34我若因大大惧怕众人， 又因宗族的藐视而恐惧， 以致我缄默不言，闭门不出；Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door?
35惟愿有一位肯听我！ 看哪，我的记号，愿全能者回答我！ 愿那与我争讼的写下状词！Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.
36我必把它带在肩上， 绑在头上为冠冕。Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me.
37我必向神述说我脚步的数目， 如同王子进到他面前。I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.
38“若我的田地喊冤告我， 犁沟也一同哭泣；If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;
39我若吃地的出产不给银钱， 或叫地的原主丧命；If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:
40愿蒺藜生长代替麦子， 恶臭的草代替大麦。” 约伯的话说完了。Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.
以利户的话
（32．1－37．24）
于是这三个人因约伯看自己为义就停止，不再回答他。
So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2那时布西人兰族巴拉迦的儿子以利户发怒了。他向约伯发怒，因约伯自以为义，不以神为义。Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
3他又向约伯的三个朋友发怒，因为他们想不出回答的话来，仍以约伯为有罪。Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
4以利户因为他们比自己年老，就等候要与约伯说话。Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.
5以利户见这三个人口中无话回答，就发怒。When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.
6布西人巴拉迦的儿子以利户回答说： “我年轻，你们年长， 因此我退让，不敢向你们陈述我的意见。And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.
7我说：‘年长的当先说话； 寿高的当以智慧教导人。’I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.
8其实，是人里面的灵， 全能者的气使人有聪明。But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
9寿高的不都有智慧， 年老的不都明白公平。Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.
10因此我说：‘你们要听我， 我也要陈述我的意见。’Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.
11“看哪，我等候你们的话， 侧耳听你们的高见； 直到你们找到要说的言语。Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.
12我留心听你们， 看哪，你们中间无一人能折服约伯， 回答他的话。Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:
13你们切不可说：‘我们寻得智慧； 神能胜他☛“能胜他”：原文另译“教导我们”。，人却不能。’Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.
14约伯没有用言语与我争辩； 我也不用你们的话回答他。Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.
15“他们惊惶不再回答， 一言不发。They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.
16我岂因他们不说话， 因他们站住不再回答，仍旧等候呢？When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)
17我也要以我的一番话回答， 我也要陈述我的意见。I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.
18因为我满怀言语， 我里面的灵激动我。For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.
19看哪，我的肚腹如酒囊没有气孔， 又如新皮袋☛“新皮袋”：原文另译“铁匠的风箱”。快要破裂。Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.
20我要说话，使我舒畅； 我要张开嘴唇回答。I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.
21我必不看人的情面， 也不奉承人。Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
22我不懂得奉承； 不然，造我的主必快快除灭我。”For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.
Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
2看哪，我开口， 我的舌在上膛发言。Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
3我的言语要表明心中的正直， 我嘴唇所知道的就诚实地说。My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
4神的灵造了我， 全能者的气使我得生。The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
5你若能够，就请回答我； 请你站起来，在我面前陈明。If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.
6看哪，我在神面前与你一样， 也是用泥土造成的。Behold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.
7看哪，我不用威严恐吓你， 也不用势力重压你。Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
8“其实，你向我耳朵说话， 我听见你言语的声音：Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
9‘我是纯洁无过的， 我是无辜的，在我里面没有罪孽。I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
10看哪，神找机会攻击我， 以我为他的仇敌，Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
11把我的脚锁上木枷， 察看我一切的道路。’He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
12“看哪，你这话无理，我要回答你， 因神比世人更大。Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
13你为何与他争论： ‘他任何事都不向人解答’？Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
14神说一次、两次， 人却不理会。For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
15世人在床上沉睡安眠时， 在梦中和夜间的异象里，In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
16神就开通世人的耳朵， 把警告印在他们心上☛“把警告印在他们心上”：原文另译“用警告惊吓他们”。，Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
17好叫人转离自己的行为， 叫壮士远离骄傲，That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
18拦阻人不陷入地府， 不让他命丧刀下☛“命丧刀下”：原文另译“生命经过死河”。。He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
19“人在床上被疼痛惩治， 骨头不住地挣扎，He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
20以致生命厌弃食物， 心中厌恶美味。So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
21他的肉消瘦，难以看见； 先前看不见的骨头都凸出来。His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
22他的性命临近地府， 他的生命挨近灭命者。Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
23一千天使中， 若有一个作传话的临到他， 指示人所当行的事，If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
24神就施恩给他，说： ‘要救赎他☛“救赎他”：有古抄本和古译本是“释放他”。免得下入地府， 我已经得了赎价。Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
25他的肉要比孩童的肉更嫩； 他就返老还童。’His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:
26他向神祷告，神就悦纳他； 他必欢呼朝见神的面， 因神恢复他的义。He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
27他在人前歌唱说： ‘我犯了罪，颠倒是非， 却没有受该得的报应。He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
28神救赎我的性命免入地府， 我的生命也必见光。’He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
29“看哪，神两次、三次 向人行这一切的事，Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
30为要从地府救回人的性命， 使他被生命之光照耀。To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
31约伯啊，你当留心听我； 不要作声，我要说话。Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
32你若有话说，可以回答我； 你只管说，因我愿以你为义。If thou hast anything to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
33若不然，你当听我； 不要作声，我要把智慧教导你。”If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
Furthermore Elihu answered and said,
2“你们智慧人要听我的言语， 有知识的人要侧耳听我。Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
3因为耳朵辨别言语， 好像上膛品尝食物。For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
4我们当选择公理， 彼此知道何为善。Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.
5约伯曾说：‘我是公义的， 神夺去我的公理。For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
6我有理，岂能说谎呢？☛“我有理，岂能说谎呢？”原文另译“我的审判官残酷待我。”七十士译本是“在我的案件上，他说谎。” 我无过，受的箭伤却不能医治。’Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.
7哪一个人像约伯， 喝讥诮如同喝水呢？What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
8他与作恶的结伴， 和恶人同行。Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
9他说：‘人以神为乐， 总是无益。’For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
10“所以，你们明理的人要听我， 神断不致行恶， 全能者断不致不义。Therefore hearken unto me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11他必按人所做的报应人， 使各人照所行的得报。For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12确实地，神必不作恶， 全能者必不偏离公平。Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
13谁派他治理大地？ 谁安定全世界呢？Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?
14他若专心为己， 将灵和气收归自己，If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
15凡血肉之躯必一同死亡； 世人必归于尘土。All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
16“你若明理，当听这话， 侧耳听我言语的声音。If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.
17难道恨恶公平的可以掌权吗？ 那有公义、有大能的，你岂可定他有罪呢？Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?
18你会对君王说：‘你是卑鄙的’； 对贵族说：‘你们是邪恶的’吗？☛本节有古卷和古译本是“他对君王说：‘你是卑鄙的。’对贵族说：‘你们是邪恶的。’”Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?
19他待王子不徇情面， 也不看重富足的过于贫寒的， 因为他们都是他手所造的。How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.
20一瞬间他们就死亡。 百姓在半夜中被震动而去世； 有权力的被夺去，非藉人手。In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.
21“神的眼目观看人的道路， 察看他每一脚步。For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.
22没有黑暗，没有死荫， 能给作恶者在那里藏身。There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23神不必再三传人 到他面前受审判。For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.
24他毋须调查就粉碎有大能的人， 指定别人代替他们。He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.
25所以他知道他们的行为， 使他们在夜间倾倒压碎。Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26他在众目睽睽下击打他们， 如同击打恶人。He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27因为他们转离不跟从他， 不留心他一切的道，Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:
28甚至使贫寒人的哀声达到他那里； 他也听了困苦人的哀声。So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.
29他安静，谁能定罪呢？ 他转脸，谁能见他呢？ 无论一国或一人都是如此。When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:
30不虔敬的人不得作王， 免得百姓陷入圈套。That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.
31“有谁对神说： ‘我受了责罚，必不再犯罪；Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
32我所看不明的，求你指教我； 我若行了不义，必不再行’？That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.
33他因你拒绝不接受， 就随你的心愿施行报应吗？ 选择的是你，不是我。 你所知道的，只管说吧！Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.
34明理的人必对我说， 听我的智慧人也说：Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.
35‘约伯说话没有知识， 他的言语毫无智慧。’Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.
36愿约伯被考验到底， 因他回答像恶人一样。My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.
37他在罪上又加悖逆； 在我们中间引起疑惑 ☛“引起疑惑”：原文直译“敲击”。， 用许多言语轻慢神。”For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
Elihu spake moreover, and said,
2“你以为这话有理， 说：‘我在神面前是公义的。’Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?
3你说：‘这对你有什么益处？ 我不犯罪有什么好处呢？’For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
4至于我，我要用言语回答你 和跟你一起的朋友。I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
5你要向天观看， 瞻望那高于你的穹苍。Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
6你若犯罪，能使神受何害呢？ 你的过犯加增，能使神受何损呢？If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7你若是公义，能加增他什么呢？ 他从你手里还接受什么呢？If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
8你的罪恶只影响像你这类的人； 你的公义也只影响世人。Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
9“人因多受欺压就哀求， 因强权者的膀臂而求救。By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
10但无人说：‘造我的神在哪里？ 他使人夜间歌唱，But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
11教导我们多过地上的走兽， 使我们比空中的飞鸟更聪明。’Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
12因为恶人骄傲， 他们在那里呼求，他却不回答。There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13虚妄的呼求，神必不垂听； 全能者必不留意。Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14何况你说，你不得见他。 案件就在他面前，你等候他吧。Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
15但如今因他未曾发怒降罚， 也一点都不理会狂傲，But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
16所以约伯开口说虚妄的话， 多多发表无知识的言语。”Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
Elihu also proceeded, and said,
2“你再给我片时，我就指示你， 因我还有话要为神说。Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.
3我要把我的知识从远处引来， 我要将公义归给造我的主。I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
4我的言语绝不虚假， 有全备知识的与你同在。For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.
5“看哪，神有大能，并不藐视人； 他的心智能力广大。Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
6他不让恶人活着， 却为困苦人伸冤。He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.
7他的眼目不远离义人， 却使他们和君王同坐宝座， 永远被高举 ☛“却使他们...被高举”或译“却使君王坐上宝座，使他们永远被高举”。。He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.
8他们若被锁链捆住， 被苦难的绳索缠住，And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;
9他就向他们指示他们的作为和过犯， 以及他们的狂妄自大。Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.
10他也开通他们的耳朵来领受教导， 吩咐他们回转离开罪孽。He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
11他们若听从事奉他， 就必度日亨通， 历年享福。If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12他们若不听从，就要被刀杀灭， 无知无识而死。But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
13“那心中不敬虔的人积蓄怒气； 神捆绑他们，他们竟不求救。But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.
14他们必在青年时死亡， 与神庙娼妓一样丧命。They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
15神藉着困苦救拔困苦人， 藉所受的欺压开通他们的耳朵。He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.
16神也必引你脱离患难， 进入宽阔不狭窄之地； 摆在你席上的必满有肥甘。Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.
17“但你充满着恶人的辩辞， 辩辞和审判抓住你。But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.
18不可让愤怒触动你，使你破口谩骂☛“不可让...破口谩骂”：原文另译“不要因他的富足而让愤怒触动你”。； 也不可因赎价大而偏行。Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.
19你的呼求☛“你的呼求”或译“你的资财”。和一切的势力， 果真有用，使你不遭患难吗？Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.
20不要切慕黑夜， 就是众民在本处被除灭的时候。Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.
21你要谨慎，不可偏向罪孽， 因你选择罪孽过于苦难。Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
22看哪，神因他的能力而崇高； 有谁像他那样作教师呢？Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
23谁派定他的道路呢？ 谁能说：‘你行了不义’？Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?
24“你要记得颂赞他的作为， 就是人所歌颂的。Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.
25他的作为，万人都看见； 世人也从远处观看。Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.
26看哪，神崇高，我们不能知道； 他的年数，不能测度。Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
27因他吸取水点， 水点就从云雾中变成雨；For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:
28云彩将雨落下， 沛然降于世人。Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
29又有谁能明白密云如何铺张， 和神行宫的雷声呢？Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?
30看哪，他的亮光普照自己的四围； 他覆盖海的深处。Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.
31因他用这些审判☛“审判”或译“治理”。众民， 又赐丰富的粮食。For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
32他以闪电遮手掌， 命令它击中靶子。With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.
33所发的雷声将他显明， 牲畜也指明要起暴风☛“牲畜也指明要起暴风”：原文另译“他因罪孽而发出妒火的怒气”。。”The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place.
2听啊，听他轰轰的声音， 是神口中所发的响声。Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.
3他发响声震遍天下， 他的闪电直到地极。He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.
4随后，人听见他的声音， 是那轰轰的声音； 他发出威严的雷声， 而不加以遏止。After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.
5神发出奇妙的雷声； 他行大事，我们不能测透。God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.
6他对雪说：‘要降在地上’； 对大雨和暴雨也是这样说。For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.
7他封住各人的手， 叫所造的万人都知道他的作为。He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.
8野兽进入穴中， 卧在自己洞内。Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.
9暴风来自内宫， 寒冷出于狂风。Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.
10神嘘气成冰， 凝结宽阔之水，By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.
11使密云盛满水气， 乌云散布闪电。Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:
12云藉着他的指引游行旋转， 在世界的地面上行他一切所吩咐的，And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.
13或为责罚，或为他的地， 或为慈爱，都是他所行的。He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.
14“约伯啊，侧耳听这话， 要站立，思想神奇妙的作为。Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
15你知道神如何安排这些， 如何使云中的闪电照耀吗？Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?
16你知道云彩如何浮于空中， 知识全备者奇妙的作为吗？Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?
17你知道南风使地寂静， 你的衣服就变为热吗？How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?
18你岂能与神同铺穹苍， 坚固如同铸成的镜子吗？Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?
19我们因在黑暗中，不会陈说， 请你指教我们该对他说什么。Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.
20有人告诉他我要说话吗？ 岂有人说他愿被吞灭吗？Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.
21“现在，人不得见穹苍的亮光； 风一吹过，天色晴朗。And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.
22金色的光辉来自北方， 在神那里有可畏的威严。Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.
23全能者，我们不能测度； 他大有能力，又有公平， 满有公义，必不苦待人。Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.
24所以，世人敬畏他； 凡自以为☛“自以为”：原文直译“心中”。有智慧的，他都不看顾。”Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
耶和华回答约伯
那时，耶和华从旋风中回答约伯说：
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
2“谁用无知的言语使我的旨意暗昧不明？Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
3你要如勇士束腰； 我问你，你可以让我知道。Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
4“我立大地根基的时候，你在哪里？ 你若明白事理，只管说吧！Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
5你知道是谁定地的尺度， 是谁把准绳拉在其上吗？Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
6地的根基安置在何处？ 地的角石是谁安放的？Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
7那时，晨星一同歌唱； 神的众使者也都欢呼。When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8“当海水冲出，如出母胎， 谁用门将它关闭呢？Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
9是我用云彩当海的衣服， 用幽暗当包裹它的布，When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
10为它定界限， 又安门和闩，And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,
11说：‘你只可到这里，不可越过； 你狂傲的浪要到此止住。’And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
12“你有生以来，曾命定晨光， 曾使黎明知道自己的地位，Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;
13抓住地的四极， 把恶人从其中驱逐出来吗？That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
14地改变如泥上盖印， 万物出现如衣服一样。It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
15亮光不照恶人， 高举的膀臂也必折断。And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.
16“你曾进到海之源， 或在深渊的隐密处行走吗？Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
17死亡的门曾向你显露吗？ 死荫的门你曾见过吗？Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
18地的广大，你能测透吗？ 你若全知道，只管说吧！Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.
19“往光明居所的路在哪里？ 黑暗的地方在何处？Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,
20你能将它带到其领域， 能辨明其居所之路吗？That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?
21你知道的，因为那时你已出生， 你活的日子数目也多。Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?
22“你曾进入雪之库， 或见过雹的仓吗？Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
23雪雹是我为灾难的时候， 为打仗和战争的日子所预备。Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
24光亮从何路分开？ 东风从何路分散遍地？By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?
25“谁为大雨分道， 谁为雷电开路，Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;
26使雨降在无人之地， 在无人居住的旷野，To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;
27使荒废凄凉之地得以丰足， 青草得以生长？To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
28“雨有父亲吗？ 露珠是谁生的呢？Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
29冰出于谁的胎？ 天上的霜是谁生的呢？Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
30诸水坚硬如石头， 深渊之面凝结成冰。The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
31“你能为昴星系结吗？ 你能为参星解带吗？Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
32你能按时领出星宿吗？ 能引导北斗与其众星吗？Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?
33你知道天的定律吗？ 你能使地归其权下吗？Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?
34“你能向密云扬起声来， 使倾盆的雨遮盖你吗？Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?
35你能发出闪电，使它们☛“它们”指“闪电”。行走， 并对你说‘我们在这里’吗？Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?
36谁将智慧放在朱鹭☛“朱鹭”或译“怀”。中？ 谁将聪明赐给雄鸡☛“雄鸡”或译“心内”。？Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?
37谁能用智慧数算云彩？ 谁能倾倒天上的瓶呢？Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,
38那时，尘土聚集成团， 土块紧紧结连。When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?
39“你能为母狮抓取猎物， 使少壮的狮子饱足吗？Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,
40那时，它们在洞中蹲伏， 在隐密处埋伏。When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?
41谁能为乌鸦预备食物呢？ 那时，乌鸦之雏哀求神， 因无食物飞来飞去。”Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.
Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
2你能数算它们怀胎的月数吗？ 你知道它们几时生产吗？Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
3它们屈身，生下幼儿， 就解除了阵痛。They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
4其子渐渐肥壮，在荒野长大； 它们出去，不再归回。Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
5“谁放野驴自由？ 谁解开快驴的绳索？Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
6我使旷野作它的住处， 使盐地当它的居所。Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
7它嘲笑城内的喧嚷， 不听赶牲口的喝声。He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
8诸山是它漫游的草场， 它寻找各样青绿之物。The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
9“野牛岂肯服事你？ 岂肯在你的槽旁过夜？Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
10你岂能用套绳将野牛系于犁沟？ 它岂肯随你耙松山谷之地？Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
11你岂可因它力大就倚靠它？ 岂可把你的工交给它做呢？Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?
12你岂能靠它把你的谷物运回， 又收聚在你的禾场上吗？☛本节原文另译“你岂能信赖它会回来，又收聚你禾场上的谷物呢？”Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?
13“鸵鸟的翅膀欢然拍动， 但岂是鹳的翎毛和羽毛吗☛“但岂是...羽毛吗”或译“它的翎毛和羽毛岂是显示慈爱吗”；“慈爱”与“鹳”的希伯来话发音相近。？Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
14因它把蛋留在地上， 使蛋在尘土中得温暖，Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,
15却忘记脚会把蛋踹碎， 野兽会践踏它。And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
16它粗暴待雏，似乎不是自己生的； 虽徒然劳苦☛“劳苦”指“孵蛋”。，也不惧怕。She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;
17因为神使它忘记智慧， 也未将悟性分给它。Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
18它几时挺身展开翅膀， 就嘲笑马和骑马的人。What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
19“马的力量是你所赐的吗？ 它颈项上的鬃是你披上的吗？Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
20是你叫它跳跃像蝗虫吗？ 它喷气之威严使人惊惶。Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.
21它用蹄在谷中挖地☛“它用蹄...挖地”：原文直译“它们在谷中挖地”。，以能力欢跃； 它出去迎击仇敌☛“仇敌”：原文是“兵器”。。He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
22它嘲笑惧怕，并不惊惶， 也不因刀剑退却。He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
23箭袋在它身上铮铮有声， 枪和短枪闪闪发亮。The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
24它震颤激动，将地吞下 ☛“将地吞下”意思是“全速奔跑”。； 一听角声就站不住。He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
25每逢角声一响，它说：‘啊哈！’ 它从远处闻到战争的气息， 听见军官如雷的吼声和呐喊。He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
26“鹰展开翅膀向南飞翔， 岂是藉着你的智慧吗？Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
27大鹰上腾在高处搭窝， 岂是听你的指示吗？Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
28它住在山岩， 以山峰和坚固之所为家，She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
29从那里窥察食物， 眼睛自远方瞭望。From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
30它的雏吸血； 被杀的人在哪里，它也在哪里。”Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
耶和华继续对约伯说：
Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,
2“强辩的岂可与全能者争论？ 与神辩驳的可以回答吧！”Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
3于是，约伯回答耶和华说：Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
4“看哪，我是卑贱的！我用什么回答你呢？ 我只好用手捂住我的口。Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
5我说了一次，就不回答； 说了两次，不再说了。”Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
6于是，耶和华从旋风中回答约伯说：Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7“你要如勇士束腰； 我问你，你可以让我知道。Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
8你岂可废弃我的判断？ 岂可定我有罪，好显自己为义吗？Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
9你有神那样的膀臂吗？ 你能像他那样发雷声吗？Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
10“你要以荣耀庄严为妆饰， 以尊荣威严为衣服。Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
11你要发出你满溢的怒气， 见一切骄傲的人，使他降卑；Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
12你见一切骄傲的人，将他制伏， 把恶人践踏在原来地方。Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
13你将他们一同埋藏在尘土中， 把他们的脸遮蔽在隐密处☛“把他们...隐密处”意思是“把他们捆绑在阴间”。。Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
14这样，我也向你承认， 你的右手能救你自己。Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
15“看哪，我造河马， 也造了你； 它吃草像牛一样。Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16看哪，它的力气在腰间， 能力在肚腹的肌肉上。Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17它挺直☛“挺直”或译“垂下”。尾巴如香柏树， 它大腿的筋紧密结合。He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18它的骨头好像铜管； 它的肢体仿佛铁棍。His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
19“它在神所造之物中为首， 只有创造它的能携刀临近它。He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
20诸山为它产出食物， 百兽也在那里游玩。Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21它伏在莲叶之下， 在芦苇和沼泽的隐密处。He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22莲叶的阴影遮蔽它， 溪旁的柳树环绕它。The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
23看哪，河水泛滥，它不慌张； 连约旦河涨到它口边，它也安然自若。Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24谁能在它眼前捉拿它呢？ 谁能以圈套穿它鼻子呢？”He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
2你能用绳索穿它的鼻子吗？ 能用钩子穿它的腮骨吗？Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
3它岂向你连连恳求， 向你说温柔的话吗？Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?
4它岂肯与你立约， 让你拿它永远作奴仆吗？Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
5你岂可拿它当雀鸟玩耍？ 岂可将它系来给你幼女？Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
6合伙的鱼贩岂可拿它当货物？ 他们岂可把它分给商人呢？Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
7你能用倒钩扎满它的皮， 能用鱼叉叉满它的头吗？Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
8把你的手掌按在它身上吧！ 想一想与它搏斗，你就不再这样做了！Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9看哪，对它有指望是徒然的； 一见它，岂不也丧胆吗？☛“一见它，岂不也丧胆吗？”原文另译“一见到它，人也丧胆。”有古译本是“一见它，神明也丧胆吗？”Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10没有那么凶猛的人敢惹它。☛“没有...敢惹它。”或译“它不是那么凶猛，以致没有人敢惹它吗？” 这样，谁能在我面前站立得住呢？None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
11谁能与我对质，使我偿还呢？ 天下万物都是我的。Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
12“我不能缄默不提 它的肢体和力量，以及健美的骨骼。I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
13谁能剥它的外皮？ 谁能进它的铠甲之间☛“它的铠甲之间”是根据七十士译本；原文是“它辔头的两边”。呢？Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?
14谁能开它的腮颊？ 它牙齿的四围是可畏的。Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
15它的背上有一排排的鳞甲☛“它的背上...鳞甲”是根据七十士译本；原文是“它以一排排的鳞甲为可夸”。， 紧紧闭合，封得严密。His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
16这鳞甲一一相连， 气不得透入其间，One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17互相连接， 胶结一起，不能分开。They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18它打喷嚏就发出光来， 它的眼睛好像晨曦☛“好像晨曦”：原文直译“好像清晨的眼皮”。。By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19从它口中发出烧着的火把， 有火星飞迸出来；Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
20从它鼻孔冒出烟来， 如烧开的锅在沸腾☛“在沸腾”：原文另译“和芦苇”。。Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
21它的气点着煤炭， 有火焰从它口中发出。His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
22它颈项中存着劲力， 恐惧在它面前蹦跳。In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
23它的肉块紧紧结连， 紧贴其身，不能摇动。The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
24它的心结实如石头， 如下面的磨石那样结实。His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
25它一起来，神明都恐惧， 因崩溃而惊慌失措。When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
26人用刀剑扎它，是无用的， 枪、标枪、尖枪也一样。The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27它以铁为干草， 以铜为烂木。He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28箭不能使它逃走， 它看弹石如碎秸。The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29它当棍棒作碎秸， 它嘲笑短枪的飕飕声。Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
30它肚腹下面是尖瓦片； 它如钉耙刮过淤泥。Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31它使深渊滚沸如锅， 使海洋如锅中膏油。He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
32它使走过以后的路发光， 令人觉得深渊如同白发。He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33尘世上没有像它那样的受造物， 一无所惧。Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34凡高大的，它盯着看； 它在一切狂傲的野兽中作王。”He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
约伯回答耶和华说：
Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
2“我知道，你万事都能做； 你的计划不能拦阻。I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
3谁无知使你的旨意隐藏呢？ 因此我说的，我不明白； 这些事太奇妙，是我不知道的。Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
4求你听我，我要说话； 我问你，求你让我知道。Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
5我从前风闻有你， 现在亲眼看见你。I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
6因此我撤回☛“我撤回”或译“我厌恶”；原文另译“我瓦解了”。， 在尘土和炉灰中懊悔。”结尾
Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
7耶和华对约伯说话以后，耶和华就对提幔人以利法说：“我的怒气向你和你两个朋友发作，因为你们议论我，不如我的仆人约伯说的正确。And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
8现在你们要为自己取七头公牛、七只公羊，到我的仆人约伯那里去，为自己献上燔祭，我的仆人约伯就为你们祈祷。我必悦纳他，不按你们的愚妄处置你们。你们议论我，不如我的仆人约伯说的正确。”Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
9于是提幔人以利法、书亚人比勒达、拿玛人琐法遵照耶和华所吩咐的去做，耶和华就悦纳约伯。So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.
10约伯为他的朋友祈祷。耶和华就使约伯从苦境☛“苦境”：原文直译“掳掠”。中转回，并且耶和华赐给他的比他从前所有的加倍。And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
11约伯的兄弟、姊妹，和以前所认识的人都来到他那里，在他家里跟他一同吃饭。他们因耶和华所降于他的一切灾祸，都为他悲伤，安慰他。每人送他一块可锡塔☛“可锡塔”：古希伯来钱币单位；参“度量衡表”。和一个金环。Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.
12这样，耶和华后来赐福给约伯比先前更多。他有一万四千只羊，六千匹骆驼，一千对牛，一千匹母驴。So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.
13他也有七个儿子，三个女儿。He had also seven sons and three daughters.
14他给长女起名叫耶米玛，次女叫基洗亚，三女叫基连哈朴。And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.
15在全地的妇女中找不着像约伯的女儿那样美貌的。她们的父亲使她们在兄弟中得产业。And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.
16此后，约伯又活了一百四十年，得见他的四代儿孙。After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.
17这样，约伯年纪老迈，日子满足而死。So Job died, being old and full of days.
