问候
耶稣基督的使徒彼得写信给那些被拣选，分散在本都、加拉太、加帕多家、亚细亚、庇推尼寄居的人，
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2就是照父神的预知，藉着圣灵得以成圣，以致顺服耶稣基督，又蒙他血所洒的人。愿恩惠、平安☛“平安”或译“和平”。多多地赐给你们！活的盼望
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3愿颂赞归于我们主耶稣基督的父神！他曾照自己的大怜悯，藉着耶稣基督从死人中复活，重生了我们，使我们有活的盼望，Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4好得到不朽坏、不玷污、不衰残、为你们存留在天上的基业，To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5就是为你们这些藉着信、蒙神大能保守的人，能获得他所预备、到末世要显现的救恩。Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6虽然你们必须在百般试炼中暂时忧愁，你们要为此喜乐 ☛“你们要为此喜乐”或译“为此你们有喜乐”。，Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7使你们的信心既被考验，就比那被火试炼仍然能坏的金子更显宝贵，可以在耶稣基督显现的时候得着称赞、荣耀、尊贵。That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8虽然你们没有见过他，却是爱他；如今虽看不见，你们却因信他而有说不出来、满有荣光的喜乐，Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9因为你们☛有古卷是“我们”。得到信心的效果，就是灵魂的得救。Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10论到这救恩，那预先说你们要得恩典的众先知已经详细地搜索查考过，Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11查考在他们心里的基督的灵预先证明基督受苦难，后来得荣耀，是指什么时候，什么样的情况。Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12他们得了启示，知道他们所服事的不是自己，而是你们。那藉着从天上差来的圣灵传福音给你们的人，现在将这些事传给你们；这些事连天使也都切望察看呢！应当过圣洁的生活
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13所以，要准备Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14作为顺服的儿女，就不要效法从前蒙昧无知的时候那放纵私欲的样子。As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15但那召你们的既是圣洁，你们在一切所行的事上也要圣洁；But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16因为经上记着：“你们要成为圣，因为我是神圣的。”Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17既然你们称那不偏待人、按各人行为审判人的主为父☛“称那…为父”或译“求告那不偏待人、按各人行为审判人的父”。，就当存敬畏的心，度你们在世寄居的日子。And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18你们知道，你们得以从你们祖先传下来虚妄的行为中救赎出来，不是靠着会朽坏的金银等物，Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19而是凭着基督的宝血，如同无瑕疵、无玷污的羔羊的血。But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20基督是神在创世以前所预知，而在这末世才为你们显现的。Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21你们也因着他而信那使他从死人中复活、又给他荣耀的神，好让你们的信心和盼望都在于神。Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22既然你们因顺从真理而洁净了自己的心灵，能真诚爱弟兄，就该以清洁的心☛“以清洁的心”：有古卷是“从心里”；另有古卷是“以真诚的心”。彼此切实相爱。Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23你们蒙了重生，不是由于会朽坏的种子，而是由于不会朽坏的种子，是藉着神永活常存的道。Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24因为 “凡血肉之躯的尽都如草，他的一切荣美像草上的花； 草必枯干，花必凋谢，For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25惟有主的道永远常存。”这话就是传给你们的福音。But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
活石和圣洁的国度
所以，你们要除去一切的恶毒，一切诡诈、假善、嫉妒，和一切毁谤的话。
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2要爱慕那纯净的灵奶，像初生的婴孩爱慕奶一样，好使你们藉着它成长，以致得救，As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3因为你们已经尝过主恩的滋味。If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4要亲近主，他是活石，虽然被人所丢弃，却是神所拣选、所珍贵的。To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5你们作为活石，要被建造成属灵的殿，成为圣洁的祭司，藉着耶稣基督献上蒙神悦纳的属灵祭物。Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6因为经上说： “看哪，我把一块石头放在锡安— 一块蒙拣选、珍贵的房角石； 信靠他的人必不蒙羞。”Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7所以，这石头在你们信的人是珍贵的；在那不信的人却有话说： “匠人所丢弃的石头 已作了房角的头块石头。”Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8又说： “作了绊脚的石头， 使人跌倒的磐石。”他们绊跌，因为不顺从这道，这也是预定的。And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9不过，你们是被拣选的一族，是君尊的祭司，是神圣的国度，是属神的子民，要使你们宣扬那召你们出黑暗入奇妙光明者的美德。But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10“你们从前不是子民， 现在却成了神的子民； 从前未曾蒙怜悯， 现在却蒙了怜悯。”作神的仆人
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11亲爱的，你们是客旅，是寄居的，我劝你们要禁戒肉体的情欲；这情欲是与灵魂争战的。Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12你们在外邦人中要品行端正，好让那些人，虽然毁谤你们是作恶的，会因看见你们的好行为而在鉴察☛“鉴察”或译“眷顾”或“来临”。的日子归荣耀给神。Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
13你们为主的缘故要顺服人的一切制度，或是在上的君王，Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14或是君王所派惩恶赏善的官员。Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
15因为神的旨意原是要你们以行善来堵住糊涂无知人的口。For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
16虽然你们是自由的，却不可藉着自由遮盖恶毒，总要作神的仆人。As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
17务要尊重众人；要敬爱教中的弟兄姊妹；要敬畏神；要尊敬君王。基督受苦的榜样
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
18你们作奴仆的，凡事要存敬畏的心顺服主人；不但顺服善良温和的，就是乖僻的也要顺服。Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
19倘若你们为使良心对得起神，忍受冤屈的痛苦，这是可赞许的。For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
20你们若因犯罪受责打而忍耐，有什么可称赞的呢？但你们若因行善受苦而忍耐，这在神看来是可赞许的。For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21你们蒙召就是为此，因为基督也为你们受过苦，给你们留下榜样，为要使你们跟随他的脚踪。For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22“他并没有犯罪， 口里也没有诡诈。”Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23他被辱骂不还口，受害也不说威吓的话，只将自己交托给公义的审判者。Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24他被挂在木头上，亲身担当了我们的罪，使我们既然在罪上死，就得以在义上活。因他受的鞭伤，你们得了医治。Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
25你们从前好像迷路的羊，如今却归回你们灵魂的牧人和监督了。For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
妻子和丈夫
同样，你们作妻子的，要顺服自己的丈夫，这样，即使有不信从道理的丈夫，也会因妻子的品行，并非言语，而感化过来，
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2因为看见了你们敬虔纯洁的品行。While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3你们不要藉外表来妆饰自己，如编头发，戴金饰，穿美丽的衣裳等，Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4而要有蕴藏在人内心不衰退的美，以温柔娴静的心妆饰自己；这在神面前是极宝贵的。But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5因为古时仰赖神的圣洁妇人正是以此为妆饰，顺服自己的丈夫。For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6就如撒拉听从亚伯拉罕，称他为主。你们只要行善，不怕任何恐吓，就成为撒拉的女儿了。Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
7同样，你们作丈夫的，要按情理☛“情理”：原文直译“知识”。跟妻子共同生活，体贴女性是比较软弱的器皿；要尊重她，因为她也与你一同承受生命之恩。这样，你们的祷告就不会受阻碍。为义受苦
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
8总而言之，你们都要同心，彼此体恤，相爱如弟兄，存怜悯和谦卑的心。Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9不要以恶报恶，以辱骂还辱骂，倒要祝福，因为你们正是为此蒙召的，好使你们承受福气。Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10因为经上说： “凡要爱惜生命、 享受好日子的人， 要禁止舌头不出恶言， 嘴唇不说诡诈的话。For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11也要弃恶行善， 寻求和睦，一心追求。Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12因为主的眼看顾义人， 他的耳听他们的祈祷； 但主向行恶的人变脸。”For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13你们若热心行善，有谁会害你们呢？And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
14即使你们为义受苦，也是有福的。不要怕人的威吓，也不要惊慌；But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15只要心里奉主基督为圣，尊他为主。有人问你们心中盼望的理由，要随时准备答覆；But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16不过，要以温柔、敬畏的心回答。要存无亏的良心，使你们在何事上被毁谤，就在何事上使那些凌辱你们在基督里有好品行的人自觉羞愧。Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17神的旨意若是要你们因行善受苦，这总比因行恶受苦好。For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
18因为基督也曾一次为罪受苦 ☛“受苦”：有古卷是“受死”。， 就是义的代替不义的， 为要引领你们☛“你们”：有古卷是“我们”。到神面前。 在肉体里，他被治死； 但在灵里，他复活了。For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19他藉这灵也曾去向那些在监狱里的灵传道，By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20就是那些从前在挪亚预备方舟、神容忍等待的时候不信从的人。当时进入方舟，藉着水得救的不多，只有八个人。Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21这水所预表的洗礼，现在藉着耶稣基督的复活拯救你们，不是除掉肉体的污秽，而是向神恳求有无亏的良心。The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22耶稣已经到天上去，在神的右边，众天使、有权柄的、有权能的都服从了他。Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
神恩赐的好管家
既然基督在肉身受苦，你们也该将这样的心志作为兵器，因为在肉身受过苦的已经与罪断绝了，
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2使你们从今以后不再随从人的情欲，只顺从神的旨意，在世度余下的光阴。That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3因为你们从前随从外邦人的心意，生活在淫荡、情欲、醉酒、荒宴、狂饮和可憎的偶像崇拜中，时候已经够了。For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4在这些事上，他们见你们不与他们同奔放荡无度的路就以为怪，毁谤你们。Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5他们必须在那位将要审判活人死人的主面前交账。Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6为此，死人也曾有福音传给他们，要使他们的肉体按着人受审判，他们的灵却靠神活着。For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
7万物的结局近了。所以你们要谨慎自守，要警醒祷告。But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8最要紧的是彼此切实相爱，因为爱能遮掩许多的罪。And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9你们要互相款待，不发怨言。Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
10人人要照自己所得的恩赐彼此服事，作神各种恩赐的好管家。As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11若有人讲道，他要按着神的圣言讲；若有人服事，他要按着神所赐的力量服事，好让神在凡事上因耶稣基督得荣耀。愿荣耀和权能都归给他，直到永永远远。阿们！基督徒的受苦
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12亲爱的，有火一般的考验临到你们，不要奇怪，似乎是遭遇非常的事；Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13倒要欢喜，因为你们是与基督一同受苦，使你们在他荣耀显现的时候也可以欢喜快乐。But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14你们若为基督的名受辱骂是有福的，因为荣耀的灵，就是神的灵，在你们身上。If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15你们中间，不可有人因为杀人、偷窃、作恶、好管闲事而受苦。But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
16若有人因是基督徒而受苦，不要引以为耻，倒要因这名而归荣耀给神。Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17因为时候到了，审判要从神的家开始；若是先从我们开始，那么，不信从神福音的人将有何等的结局呢？For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18“若是义人还仅仅得救， 不虔敬和犯罪的人将有何地可站呢？”And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19所以，照神旨意受苦的人要一心为善，将自己的灵魂交给那信实的造物主。Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
牧养神的羊群
所以，我这同作长老，作基督受苦的证人和分享将来所要显现的荣耀的人，勉励在你们中间的长老们：
The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2务要牧养在你们当中神的群羊，按着神的旨意照顾他们☛“按着…他们”：有古卷没有“按着神的旨意”；另有古卷没有“照顾他们”。，不是出于勉强，而是出于甘心；也不是因为贪财，而是出于乐意。Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3不要辖制所托付你们的群羊，而是要作他们的榜样。Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4到了大牧人显现的时候，你们必得到那永不衰残、荣耀的冠冕。And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5同样，你们年轻的，要顺服年长的。你们大家都要以谦卑当衣服穿上，彼此顺服，因为 “神抵挡骄傲的人， 但赐恩给谦卑的人。”Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6所以，你们要谦卑服在神大能的手下，这样，到了适当的时候，他必使你们升高。Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7你们要将一切的忧虑卸给神，因为他顾念你们。Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8务要谨慎，要警醒。因为你们的仇敌魔鬼，如同咆哮的狮子，走来走去，寻找可吞吃的人。Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9你们要用坚固的信心抵挡他，因为知道你们在世上的众弟兄也正在经历这样的苦难。Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10那赐一切恩典的神曾在基督☛有古卷加“耶稣”。里召了你们，得享他永远的荣耀，在你们暂受苦难之后，必要亲自成全你们，坚固你们，赐力量给你们，建立你们☛有古卷没有“建立你们”。。But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11愿权能归给他，直到永永远远。阿们！问安
To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12我简单地写了这信，托我所看为忠心的弟兄西拉交给你们，劝勉你们，又证明这恩是神真实的恩典；你们务要在这恩上站立得住。By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13在巴比伦与你们同蒙拣选的教会向你们问安。我儿子马可也向你们问安。The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
14你们要用爱心彼此亲吻问安。愿平安☛“平安”或译“和平”。归给你们所有在基督里的人！Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
