大衛在猶大曠野的時候，作了這詩。渴慕神
神啊，你是我的神，
我要切切尋求你； 在乾旱疲乏無水之地， 我的心靈渴想你，我的肉身切慕你。 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2我在圣所中曾如此瞻仰你， 为要见你的能力和你的荣耀。To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
3因你的慈爱比生命更好， 我的嘴唇要颂赞你。Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
4我还活着的时候要这样称颂你， 我要奉你的名举手。Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
5我在床上记念你， 在夜更的时候思念你； 我的心像吃饱了骨髓肥油， 我也要以欢乐的嘴唇赞美你。My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
6因为你曾帮助了我， 我要在你翅膀的荫下欢呼。When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
7我的心紧紧跟随你； 你的右手扶持了我。Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
8但那些寻索要灭我命的人 必往地底下去；My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
9他们必被刀剑所杀， 成为野狗的食物。But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
10但是王必因神欢喜， 凡指着他发誓的都要夸耀， 因为说谎之人的口必被塞住。They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
