大衛的詩。交給聖詠團長耶杜頓。受苦者的認罪
我曾說：「我要謹慎我的言行，
免得我的舌頭犯罪； 惡人在我面前的時候， 我要用嚼環勒住我的口。」 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
2我默然无声，连好话也不出口， 我的愁苦就更加深。I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
3我的心在我里面发热； 我默想的时候，火就烧起， 我用舌头说话：My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,
4“耶和华啊，求你让我晓得我的结局， 我的寿数几何， 使我知道我的生命何等短暂！LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.
5看哪，你使我的年日窄如手掌， 我一生的年数，在你面前如同无有； 各人最稳妥的时候，真是全然虚幻。（细拉）Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
6世人行动实系幻影， 他们忙乱，真是枉然， 积蓄财宝，不知将来有谁收取。Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
7“主啊，如今我等什么呢？ 我的指望在乎你！And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
8求你救我脱离一切的过犯， 不要使我受愚顽人的羞辱。Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.
9我保持沉默，闭口不言， 因为这一切都是你所做的。I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.
10求你从我身上免去你的责罚； 因你手的责打，我就消灭。Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.
11因人的罪恶你惩罚管教他的时候， 如蛀虫一般，吃掉他所喜爱的。 世人真是虚幻！（细拉）When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.
12“耶和华啊，求你听我的祷告， 侧耳听我的呼求！ 我流泪，求你不要静默无声！ 因为在你面前我是客旅， 是寄居的，像我列祖一般。Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
13求你宽容我， 使我在去而不返之先可以喜乐。”O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
